Good for you! You WIN ... and on so many levels. :)

That's SO GREAT! Good for you. Can't wait to join you there one of these days. :)

Meh ... 10 calories is nothing to worry about. I believe MFP is set up so that you have to be at least 1 cal. LESS than your goal to get the lovely and desirable "you're under your calories limit" message. As to the hungry thing ... can you drink a big glass of water? Always helps me feel more full (though I've noticed…

So this will be one time when I'm really, really happy to be in the minority, then. :) Interesting post ... gonna go read the article. But my knee-jerk reaction is: nuthin' any goofy scientist says is gonna determine what *I* do. :)

Best quote ever. :) I hear ya: I have a lot to lose, too, but there's NO WAY I'm gonna focus on the big number. It's way too daunting. What's working for me is to set smaller goals -- a whole lot of them. For me, every 5 pounds is a win, and every 10 lbs. is a BIG win. (I'm working on Win # 11 and Big Win #6 right now.…

Best feeling in the world, isn't it!?! Way to go ... beyond proud of you. Forward we go! :)

Too cool! Love the way you're embracing all the changes in your life ... this one most of all. I started the exact same way you are: 3 lbs. in about 5 days. That's all it took for me to be hooked big time. Welcome! Rock on. :)

Sweet! Congrats ... feels good, huh? :)

You wrote, "...as expected I can`t seem to lose the weight". So ... you didn't expect anything to change? Seems like a pretty big issue there. What's worked for me is getting my head around the whole idea and then jumping in with both feet. I did a whole lot of talking to myself (usually not out loud :) about what this was…

Hang in there ... a whole lot of us have had all-i-wanna-do-is-go-home-to-bed-and-pull-the-covers-over-my-head days. Crying is OK, esp. when you hear things that seem particularly hurtful. But. Tomorrow's a bright new day, right? REGARDLESS of what the scale says. No, really. I mean it. :) I get how you feel about…

As you've already discovered, processed foods are the devil when it comes to sodium (and lots of other preservatives and nonsense like that). Same with restaurant food. My fave tip for lowering sodium in canned veggies: rinse the green beans (or corn or whatever) about 3x and cook them in regular tap or filtered water. A…

YES! Best attitude ever ... it'll get you there for sure. Go, you!

GO, YOU!!! Seriously: I hope a zillion MFP newbies with a lot to lose come check out your pix and read your comments ... they're spot on. Keep going -- you're doing GREAT. :)

You have a phone with an alarm/reminder you could set? Or do you work on a computer where you could set yourself reminders? Maybe you could set repeat reminders to pop up every couple of hours or so until you get in the habit ... just a thought.

Woo hoo! Insanely great. Keep up the great work. :)

Water is quite the topic here ... some folks have pretty strong feelings about it. So I'll speak only for myself. I tend to drink a lot of water, too (20 cups today, for instance). I'm no scientist, but here's what I think. If you're eating and not just drinking water, you should be fine. If you're exercising and working…

So for me, it was a matter of breaking a bad old habit. You said you're not really hungry, right? Me neither ... I was just used to snacking throughout the evening because I did it for YEARS. Good news is, that meant it was all in my head (so to speak) ... which also meant it was controllable (though not always easy).…

I steam a little broccoli in a tbsp. or so of water for 3 minutes in the microwave, then pour of the water, add this cheese, nuke it for another minute and stir. The BEST way to eat broccoli ever (for me, anyway). :)

That just makes me smile. Good for you! And what a grand influence you are. Woooot!

Here an article I saw yesterday on learning to love water ... thought it a pretty good read: http://www.wikihow.com/Love-the-Taste-of-Water As for me, I just count water. :)

I'm a 53-year-old who joined MFP in February, so I'm just shy of six months in. When I signed on I was pretty skeptical; I committed to losing just 1/2 lb. a week and no exercise. Zero. Just by tracking everything I ate, I was down 3 lbs. in 5 days -- and completely hooked. Oh, the things I've learned! From how much I was…

Man, you are SO spot on. The best thing -- the absolute best thing -- I'm getting from this journey is how I think so completely different about food now. From buying easy and convenient boxed/canned/processed foods to being a regular at farmers markets ... from practically living on fast food to scoping out restaurants…

Too cool! Congrats. :) I love little successes; they come so much more often and for me, at least, are insanely great motivators. My faves so far: the difference in how the seat belt in my car fits ... being able to wear jeans I hadn't worn in 8 years ... and then giving away those jeans when they got too big. (woot!) One…

Fabulous! And so motivating. Thanks for sharing ... keep on goin'! :)

If you can get in the water, walking and stretching there is a lovely thing after knee surgery. :)

Stay the course, man.

Good ones! Here's another of mine: OLD & BAD: I ate fast food. A lot. No, really: A LOT. Biggest culprit: fast food cheeseburgers. NEW & SO MUCH BETTER: Only fast food I do now is KFC Grilled Chicken and Subway sandwiches on whole grain bread. HOW I CHANGED: Realized I made much better cheeseburgers at home, where I…
