quinoa, red lentils, collard greens, endamame. yummo x 4. and oh, yeah: fresh-ground organic peanut butter, almond milk and light chocolate soy. more deliciousness all the way around.

I'm noticing that I'm colder this year than last. Less insulation, doncha know. :) But -- the cold makes me a little hungrier, too. Must be part bear.

Sounds great. But then, how can a recipe with "Mess" in the name be anything else? :) Thanks for sharing.

Greetings, KC peeps. I work from home in Olathe; it's a swell gig. Joined MFP in February, and that's been a swell gig, too. :) I'm a few pounds shy of my halfway mark; pretty happy with my progress so far. My main exercise is walking, but I'm about ready to do the gym thing. Picked up a groupon recently, so we'll see how…

Ah, yes ... the painful reality of HRM numbers vs MFP numbers. I remember it well. Seriously, when I started using my HRM I was astounded at the difference between the two (and not in a good way). Me, I'd go with the HRM numbers. As I've gotten more fit, the numbers have actually evened out and are, for the moment at…

yummo! thanks for sharing.

this is one swell thread! thanks for starting it. I have a bracelet with a hook and chain clasp that's hard to do up by myself. so i've been hooking it up first, then slowly pushing and pulling it up over my hand to my wrist. today i had to take it off and rehook it so that the bracelet is as small as it can go ... and i…

yay x 10! too cool. good for you.

that's SO great! congrats. I'm 5 miles away from my halfway mark ... can't wait to join you there. rock on!!!

Just my $.02, but I'm thinkin' it's a rock paper scissors sort of decision. :) Speaking just for myself, I switch stuff up fairly often -- including the calories I allow myself -- to see what works best. Too, I think switching things around from time to time isn't a bad thing for metabolism-wise. Once you've worked with…

beyond cool. go, you!!!

Well, it's certainly not a light box ... but I picked up a floor reading lamp a few years ago that has a special halogen (I think) bulb that mimics the light of the sun pretty closely (or so all the marketing copy read). I like it a lot. Might think about getting something like that for home, maybe ... just a thought.

I'm single. I love it. :)

exactly the motivational boost i needed today. good for you (and on so many levels). :)

dirtbooksun is absolutely, completely, 100% spot on. :)

Drastic times call for drastic measures, right? So consider doing whatever it takes to change your behavior. For example ... Carry water with you everywhere, and drink LOTS more than 8 glasses a day. Opinions here on MFP vary, but if you're anything at all like me -- I suspect you could double that every day without any…

paying it forward has healing properties. for the payer AND the payeee. :)

yum! thanks for sharing.

Good for you, man. You may be surrendering now, but you'll win big in the end. :) Even better, the winning will start soon. I'm not gonna gonna wish you good luck, because you don't need it. ;) Just do the work and the results WILL come. Rock on!

Yum! I need to make a grocery store run now. :) Thanks!

Beyond cool! I've been thinking a good workout would be to wander over to the local high school in the evenings and work the bleachers ... you've helped convince me that'd be a worthy effort. Congrats! Way to show those steps who's boss. :)

i definitely believe it's possible to lose range of motion. but here's the thing. every step your mom takes *is* exercise. every time she steps up on the curb or goes up stairs -- that's great. every time she stretches, that's gonna help. i was told by both my surgeon and my rehab therapist that eventually, scar tissue…

Boy, I can relate. I had both knees replaced in 2003. It definitely takes a while (and some hard work) to get full strength back. Here are a few thoughts she might consider. Does she work in a building that has more than one floor? If so, maybe on one break each day, she starts walking the stairs. It'll be slow going at…

I've always loved Garamond Narrow. For the web, I like the obvious: Georgia, Verdana and Tahoma; Cambria, and to a lesser extent, Calibri, are growing on me. Zapf Chancery, on the other hand, has NEVER grown on me. And it never will. :)

bumpity-bump for sure.
