I'm in love with my SpiBelt (Small Personal Item belt). It's super lightweight, comfortable, and doesn't bounce when I run. I'll even forget I'm wearing it. Also, no arm band tan lines!

I'm a grain-free vegetarian that dislikes beans, so I've had the same problem. I second the leafy greens suggestion. Greens actually contain alot of protein. Cooked spinach has DOUBLE the protein per calorie as kidney beans, for example (Table 2 on this page: http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/protein.htm)

If you have enough space to move your legs, you can do leg lifts. Sit straight up, with your arms straight out in front, shoulder level. If you can't fully extend your arms, you can cross them, while holding your elbows out. Lift both knees to your chest (or as far as you can, given the space restrictions).
