Not a bad idea... it is pretty hard to think about anything when all the blood has left your brain to fuel your legs.

I seriously think people need to stop pandering to this sort of post. You "can't stand" 1/10th of an inch of fat on your stomach? That screams of psychological issues, not physical ones. You are female... you are biologically programmed to lay down fat so that when you get pregnant your body has some stored fuel for the…

Celibacy? No. Dry spell? Ya... longest after the age of 19 was about 8 months of sadness.

People don't get "energy" from working out... I mean... the whole goal of exercise is to expend energy and fatigue the body. When people say they get extra energy from working out they are describing the effects of chemicals released into the body during exercise. Endorphins cause a euphoric high similar to that brought on…

You are clearly not sedentary so I would just change your activity level to active and don't log work as exercise.

You should also take into account what you eat when you get back from a backpacking trip. I used to come home from 7 days on the trail and eat ALL of the food. I mean... I would head to olive garden for endless rounds of bread sticks. I would eat an entire taco bell grande meal to myself. Fact is that you come back from…

6'1.5" (188cm), 185lbs, goal = swap out another 9lbs fat for muscle (same weight, 19% body fat ideal)

Learn to love 'em!! I have very muscular thighs (no thigh gap for this athlete) and I've come to embrace that part of my body. Keep working to swap out fat for long, lean muscle through running, squats, lunges, etc and learn to love the thunder thighs!

I've recently realized that eating late at night is the danger zone for me. I will tuck into endless snacks (unnecessary calories and bingeing) and then I have silent reflux symptoms (diagnosed with GERD & silent reflux) the next day. My new binge-prevention strategy is to stop consuming food after 7pm. I don't need the…

Sugar. In all its forms. Last summer I memorably ate an entire lemon meringue pie in 24 hours. I've been known to eat entire bags of candy or 6 cupcakes in a single sitting. Sometimes if I am really craving I will make small batches of icing or just eat powdered sugar. It's pretty h-core.

I time my breaks to between 45 and 90 seconds depending on the weight and the number of reps I do (more break if it is high weights, low reps, high sets and less break if it is lower weight, high reps, fewer sets). This helps me stay on track. Assuming that for the most part my "warm up" is just incorporated into my…

Thanks! I didn't really think it was possible for women to put on so much muscle in such a short period of time. Guess all that food is paying off!

Let's say you burn 150-170kcal during those "30 day shred" 20 min videos and then maybe another 50-100 doing strength training. Running for 30 mins will burn a bit more (maybe another 300 or so - more if you are running over 6mph). I would estimate that in a week you burn 1700-2000kcal a week doing exercise (and while this…

6'1, 185 29 or 30 in jeans (10/12 depending on the brand) 8 in skirts M-L womens shirts S in mens clothing (especially outdoors gear, mens fits better) Goal... I guess I want to stay pretty much the same but loose 5 lbs of fat and gain another 10 lbs of muscle.

The only time I feel like I have "wasted" calories is when I consume a bunch of sugary high-cal alcoholic drinks but don't actually get drunk (my body metabolizes alcohol suuuuper fast). I always end up wishing I had just drunk a beer or two and scarfed down a cheesecake instead of drinking stuff that tastes bad and…

Trader joes has frozen rice that is awesome.

Me too! It's pretty much full-face (falsies included) or nothing. I am obsessed with Clinique makeup and buy something new (like a new eye pallet or lipstick) every month or so

This means that all of the "% of daily nutritional requirement" labels are scaled to a % of 2000 total kcal. If you eat more or less than you are eating a smaller or larger % of your daily requirement respectively.

People used to think that caffeine was a diuretic but this has mostly been dis-proven. So, yes... coffee and tea do count towards your daily water intake but you will probably be less likely to drink a liter of coffee than a liter of water (for obvious reasons).

I'm a wilderness survival expert (certified... no really). I was raised in a remote part of the world and can live for a long time off the land. I am strong, fast, and ruthless when need be. I have 2 graduate degrees so I think I could probably do fairly well at urban survival too. I have an outdoors gear obsession and am…

omega 3 fatty acids via fish oil packets -- they don't taste the best but it's a good way to get calories & good fats up. Peanut Butter. protein shakes... all of these work but my best suggestion is to just switch over to full-fat everything. Whole milk, full fat yogurt (esp yogurt -- it is delicious and easier for your…

Active recovery is a great way to ease out of delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). Take a jog or a run or bike lightly for 30 minutes to help work through this. As for ice/heat... heat is great before exercise if you have tightness or a minor injury, ice is great for after exercise or during rest periods as it reduces…

Mostly I listen to music while working out indoors. If I am running outside I will bring an iPod if I am running alone or leave it behind if I have company. Either way I tend to zone out completely while running so I don't even notice if the same song ends up on repeat.

These recommendations (smaller meals for dinner) are not made based on weight loss goals/caloric needs but rather on the fact that eating large meals late at night is generally not recommended as it can mess with your sleep cycle. If eating large meals late doesn't mess with your sleep cycle... you do you!
