I don't think so -- except as a perception thing. I mean... I have as much lean mass as a regular sized person and then an entire toddler of fat mass. So I guess I look like a normal person being cuddled by a toddler. Okay. That got a bit abstract. I think that because we are talking about a % of fat relative to body size,…

Don't quote me on this but I think you are probably already "under-weight". Sounds like you need to put on some heavy muscle (it's not about "toning" which implies getting rid of something, it's about "building"). Trust me when I say it can be done -- I carry weight around my core but in the last year I've gained 10lbs in…

Well that's very nice of you to say... I'm just telling you what the data is telling me.

Your profile pic makes me think about orcas. I'm obsessed with crazy people on the internet.

Y'all are damn rock stars.

Multiple repeat bod pod (I've also had caliper & water displacement tests done but I find the bod pod to be the least invasive). Never had a Dexa Scan done but because the objectives in my sport are speed & strength not aesthetic... it's not particularly important that I have 100% accuracy so much as consistency so that I…

Thanks :) You've hit the nail on the head, mate.

Depends on what you want to do with your body really... I'm 6'2 and 180 but I'm training as a high performance athlete so I want to maintain that weight and just reduce body fat a bit. The lowest I have been in my adult life was around 165 and I looked pretty darn lean at that weight but could have easily lost another 5-10…

I didn't really mean it in the Sheldon classification sense (though I guess if you use the words you have to accept all of the scientific history that goes along with them). I was really just using a semantic shortcut to say that OP is not particularly bottom heavy or hippy and that her inherited skeletal frame & body…

If you're running 1-2 miles a day... ya, you can run every day. If you find that any part of your body is in pain (not fatigue, the difference is important) then you should rest rather than pushing yourself into injury.

I mean... I wasn't tryyyying to be funny. Did I say something wrong or is the idea of body type changing just naturally funny? Kinda like... ya, everyone can have thigh gap, all we need is for our hips to re-align. No worries, right?

Girl... it's all in the angles. For what it's worth, you look like a mesomorph to me - a body type with endless possibilities as long as you accept that you aren't going to suddenly have the bone structure and fat distribution of an ectomorph.

I get terrible GERD symptoms in the AM if I eat at night so I take 2 tums and stop solid, acidic, or dairy-rich food at 8pm (so... pretty much most food though sometimes I will have a banana if necessary. I wake up at 5am most days for training and have something when I get up so I never feel hungry or anything.

People who run out of their houses (vs. driving or biking somewhere to go running) often get stuck in ruts -- running the same route or one of 4 routes every day. This is especially true if you have a distance goal that you need to meet every day, it can be tempting to run the same 10-mile run just because you know the…

FYI This is why they make you fast before a bod pod measurement. The same should be done before any kind of body fat assessment. Online calculators and pictures are probably the least accurate -- see my post above.

Ps. I wanted to show people what 25% body fat looks like on my frame. Just proof that those "body fat by pictures" things are not particularly informative.

goal based off ideals for women in my sport is 18% -- I need to lose 5 lbs fat, gain 5-10 lbs muscle

Sometimes a "bad workout" that you really had to struggle through is worth more in terms of ego boost -- "I made it through that!!" than a "good workout" that you breeze through.

4-5 hours lifting & core 15-25 hours cardio Wednesday & Sunday are half days
-
I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE YELLING ABOUT! But in all seriousness... you can do legs & arms or legs & core or legs & back or whatever in one day. I'm training for a leg-heavy sport so I do 1/2 legs 1/2 some other zone every lifting day (3-4 times a week). Try mixing squats, lunges, power cleans, leg press etc (compound leg…

eek actually I meant "1/2 lb" - I was trying to describe the calories in one-fillet serving. Yikes.
-
It's pretty yummy actually... esp. if you are using frozen salmon
-
you are 100% correct. I meant to say under 750 calories. My bad!

This is called "the pump". Here's Arnie explaining this sensation - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzI-UQ-JsaQ.

I like boiling them in batches of 6 (usually I eat 2 on the spot and put the rest in the fridge for the next day). The great thing about eggs in-shell is that they taste as good the next day as they did when you made them! If you want to eat them all on the spot (rather than traveling with them in which case in-shell is…

If we are in fact biologically inclined to seek out high fat, high calorie foods (and it makes sense that we would be driven to these things because fat stores would help us survive long periods of abstinence from food) then we might all be considered "food addicts" or "sugar addicts". Our body's basic neurological and…

Trader Joes Turkey Meatballs, TJs Andoullie Sausage, TJs everyting. Also, I like TJs par-frozen chicken breasts -- they aren't pre-cooked but you can put them in the oven from frozen so it's really easy to cook then.

It's genetic. I stay red for about 30 minutes after a really hard workout. If I work out with friends I usually warn them that I am going to look like I am dying and in fact I am fine.

My college roomate used to do frozen bananas, milk, and nutella. Oh. My. Damn. A fave of mine is frozen bananas, whole milk, and matcha powder (or matcha latte powder).

Mmm Trader Joes has a good pancake mix (for when I'm too damn lazy for mixing stuff together on my own)... makes super fluffy pancakes that are good with strawberry preserves or whatever.
