Your body can fluctuate more than 5lbs in a day. I don't think you should freak about 3lbs in one day because it's definitely not a 3lb fat gain in one days time unless you consumed 10,500 extra calories in one day.

We cannot recommend an actual weight for you as we do not know how strong you are to begin with. I train a guy right now who can squat 225lb, bench press 185lb but when it comes to shoulder day.... on certain exercises he has to use 8's and 10's..... Kind of hard to say you should use one over the other. Because you should use them both for different reasons. There are times when dumbbell's are more appropriate and times when barbells are. All depends on what you're doing. What are your goals?

I use "Run/walk intervals" to do the intervals. You can set the intervals to whatever you want and it talks to you and vibrates. then I use My Tracks to track the run. ETA: the icon for the app is blue and orange with a guy running and a guy walking.

I'm sure all the responses have said this but I'll just reiterate. If you're bruising yourself then you're putting the bar in the wrong place. Put it across your traps, below that big bone right at the base on your neck. It should NOT be resting on the TOPS of the shoulders or on that bone at the base of your neck.
