  • I find all this excitement fascinating specially considering prices. :)
  • As for connected scales Garmin and Fitbit ones are OK. They are also quite expensive. As far as expensive scales go, I still stick with my Omron BF511. Not connected but 4-point measurements should in theory give more accurate numbers than 2-point on those connected scales ( not that anything besides weight can be accurate…

  • Just input foods you eat as accurately as possible. It's as simple as that. I never bother with logging my water intake.
  • I listen to a lot of podcasts and audio books too. Not only when walking, but also when commuting to work and back and generally doing stuff while by myself. Curiously as I get older I listen to music less and less, mainly I put on headphones and turn on Spotify when I need to concentrate at work.
  • I've seen Halo Top mentioned before. What is special about it? As I understand it is ice cream with high protein content and bit lower in calories than "average" ice cream (though not by much) and is crazy expensive. Similar to Lohilo ice cream we have here. Anything I'm missing?
  • My diary is always open
  • New friends are always welcome :)
  • Haven't used Fitbit quite some time since I prefer other brands, but Fitbit app should be quite simple compared to some others. Are you sure that your goals and activity ity levels are set to same level in both? Also are you sure that Fitbit number isn't energy expenditure or something like that? Because I just don't…
  • Tried it out of interest. Was a pure torture for me. Also there are so many keto topics here where it all has been discussed on length.
  • Depending on if you work out / how active you are with your weight and height you should successfully lose weight by eating ~ 2000 calories per day or even more. In any case eating below 1500 is dangerous. I would choose slower weight loss and wouldn't eat less than my BMR. I'm currently 40, 190 lbs and 5'11 and I lose…
  • This might be an urban legend but supposedly "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" phrase was introduced by cereal companies. In any case I ate breakfast like clockwork too when I started my weight loss path. Now I skip breakfast since I shifted my meals to later time, because I find this kind of "light IF"…
  • That part baffles me too every time I see someone here claim that they struggle to eat 1000-1200 calories.
  • Must be an US thing. I'm an European, 40 now, and last time a doctor measured my height or weighed me without me specially requesting it was at school about 25 years ago. Blood pressure is also taken only if I go to see a doctor with a complaint that assumes it. There is no mandatory yearly checkup and most people don't…
  • Almond milk is typically quite low in calories. Peanut butter (or any nut butter) is a good option - calorie dense and a good source of fat and protein.
  • This is so true. Afterall it is down to personal preference. I don't do smoothies for several reasons: First - I'm lazy, and it's a work, especially cleaning and washing the blender afterwards  Second - I like to eat my fruit in solid form, I find it is more filling for me. Also, smoothie goes down too easy and it…
  • This. At the end it doesn't matter which eating pattern you use, if weekly calorie consumption stays the same and within goal parameters. Eating equal amounts daily is just simpler for most people.
  • There is no starvation mode, it's a myth. However eating 1200 calories is borderline unhealthy, eating only 1000 is definitely unhealthy and leads to all kinds of issues. You're still losing weight by eating that little but you really should eat more. How much, depends on your age, height and activity level. MFP will help…
  • OP might have a condition that prevents him walking faster. Unless you walk very fast with significant effort, it doesn't really matter how fast you walk, distance matters way more here. So using MFP minimum value with half the time should be perfectly fine. It's an estimate afterall.
  • If bored, it would be fun to count how many ACV posts people write here with exactly same question. Several per day for sure. That's the answer right there though. Also, instead of jumping on to ACV fad and cancelling out even the hypothetical effect some people think it has by mixing it into sugary fruit juice, eating…
  • Great first post! 1200-1500 calories is way too little for a man (assumed that for your username), especially if you also do some sort of workout. I assume that it probably doesn't include calories from alcohol. Pizza cheat days can also mean that you consume more calories than you think. Doing more exercise is good, but…
  • Eating 1200 calories as a male is a dangerous and absolutely sure way to lose muscle mass. Eat more, make sure you get enough protein and do some weight lifting. If low carb is not something you do for a specific reason, I would reconsider that too, though that part is highly individual and down to personal preference.
  • I don't have an answer for you, but I have always wondered the same thing. What also baffles me, is that the same people who say that they forget to eat or simply aren't hungry or say that they struggle to eat 1000 kcal per day, have somehow found their way here, because they need to or want to lose weight. People don't…
  • I really didn't want to continue this whole hijacking OP's thread, but this seriously must be the best post I have read here in quite a while. It's just so pure troll, it might be the etalon of trolling. To OP: get a food scale as people have said above. There isn't such thing as "an average medium apple." There is however…
  • Libra is fine app. Afer a while the graph gets quite fun:
  • I don't usually do any workout specifically. Also, if a vacation is a week or so and within Europe, then I travel with a carry-on bag only, hence no room for gym clothes. I do however like an active vacation. That means I don't spend my time at the beach, but I walk a lot, and if there are mountains nearby, I like to go…
  • No need to use protein shakes unless you have a hard time getting your daily protein quantity from other food.
  • Wow, so many typos  This is what happens when I use my phone too late at night... Meant daily protein goal of course, not progress twin.
  • Interesting, I have never thought about NOT weighing my scoops of protein powder. Eyeballing it can easily have 30% difference. That said I noticed only use it in case I don't meet my daily progress twin goal with usual food, which doesn't happen that often.
  • Providing that you're logging accurately, I find it hard to wrap my brain around how small your meals must be to only hit 900 -1100 kcal. but in any case, get a decent sized banana or apple, plus couple teaspoonfuls of peanut butter and it's 300 extra kcal right there. Cheese is a good option too in such cases. But first,…
  • Don't cut carbs then, if it makes it hard to hit your goal. Also, add more fat, fills up calorie goal really fast.
