  • Stationary bike is mostly cardio, you won't build actual muscle there. Get a balanced progressive full body strength training plan. Also make sure that you're eating at maintenance or small surplus. You can't build muscle while in caloric deficite.
  • So from that is seems that if you're only using dumbbells, then your excercise range is very limited and only for your upper body. You need a training plan that is balanced, covers all muscle groups and body parts, specially if you want "tone up" core and lower body. Keep in mind that there can be about 10 times (or more)…
  • What does that even mean? Different strength training exercises involve vastly different weight ranges. Surely you don't do only one excercise? If you want to "tone up" mentioned areas specifically and are already at lower limit of your healthy BMI, you should work on strengthening of your abs and glutes, which also means…
  • Interesting topic. I have exactly same sleep issues. Melatonin does absolutely nothing for me.
  • Youre either eating more than you think or burning less calories excercising than you think. Log everything precisely. Use digital food scale and weigh EVERYTHING.
  • No. Of course I have had unhealthy eating patterns. In fact that is the reason what brings most of us here. I have been at this for 5 years and managed to successfully lose over 70 kg and to keep it off. Though English is not my native language, but I think I won't be wrong if I leave here one word which has been key for…
  • It does actually one thing really well. And that is exact opposite to what quoted person is claiming. Such "smoothie cleanse" is a sure way to induce binge eating. Specially if one goes from "eating high sodium or sugary foods" cold turkey to a "smoothie cleanse" odds are very high that it ends with binging on all kinds of…
  • Don't avoid carbs then, Just eat within your calorie goal. Life is much simpler that way.
  • I can't eat less than 150 g of carbs per day. If i do, i will loose ability to think straight, concentrate on more complex problems, sometimes even get a decent headache. Most days i try to keep my carb intake between 150-200 g, but sometimes it gets higher than that. Has not hindered my weight loss in any way though.
  • My Garmin Fenix 3 estimates around 200 calories per 10 000 step's. Probably takes into account my age and weight too. And number in app an on MFP are identical. However I don't have negative adjustments enabled in MFP, since I have found that it messes with results.
  • This. I'm an European who has lost 75 kg, and I don't think I have ever heard term "net carbs" before. It is certainly not on labels here. Same thing with very vague concept of a "serving".

  • On a budget - Anker Sounbuds Tag or (older) Soundbuds Sport. Sound quality is much better than almost similarly priced Mpows. (I have used all 3) If budget is not an issue - Jaybird X3 or lighter and smaller but with half the battery life, Jaybird Freedom. Highly adjustable DSP/EQ from iOS/Android app on Jaybirds is just…
  • In that case i have been wrong a lot, since it seems to apply in my case.
  • I keep my carbs above 150 grams. Has helped keeping me sane during my weight loss, for all 75kg / 165 lbs of it. Probably proves again that different things work for different people. But carbs are not evil. As long as you get your minimum recommended amount of daily protein and fats, feel free to fill rest with carbs. Or…
  • Strength training calorie burn is quite difficult to measure, But providing that you keep your average heart rate constantly above 120 bpm, 300-400 kcal per hour should be close enough.
  • I eat eggs often, as an European I measure everything in grams. There are plenty of egg entries in database which have grams. An egg is an egg, doesn't matter if it's "jumbo" or "small" this is exactly where actual weight matters. Also, when buying a new digital scale, pick one which has 1 gram accuracy, some have accuracy…
  • Meal plannin/prep won't take much time. As said above, a hour or two per week tops. Youre contradicting yourself - you say that you have very busy schedule and can't really find time for meal planning, yet you spend lot of hours at gym. Skip some gym time and spend it for meal prep. Excercise is important, but it can't…
  • That sounds interesting, too bad that we don't have it here...
  • Though I probably should really try not to drink it, I still love my "white" coffee at the office, specially in the morning. I can't stand black coffee and I also don't like creamers, so I just drink an average latte or cappuccino, made with skim or 2% milk, usually 2 cups per day, sometimes 3. Some days I still manage to…
  • I found that his calorie calculation, while far from exaxt, falls perfectly into my calorie goal as calculated by MFP.
  • That's not what a protein shake does. It won't perform miracles. Point of protein shake is to give you extra protein (and depending on type also other nutrients or supplements) in case you don't have time or simply fnd it hard to get adequate amount of protein from other sources.
  • Both of course. I set macro split that suits me within my calorie goal.
  • I don't have a device with wrist based heart rate sensor, but I do have a Garmin Fenix 3, and it seems to be calculating step calories quite accurately. For excercise I wear a HR strap and get believeable numbers too, though as usual, it probably overestimates somewhat.
  • You probably need to explain what do you mean by "clean eating" and "healthy eating", since they can be very different things for different people.
  • Probably not really "weird weight loss tips" but still: * When i go out just for a (longer) walk, i try not to take a wallet or card with me. I sometimes can have sudden cravings, and if at one such a moment i happen to pass by a grocery store or a gas station, then... Of course that can be harder in countries where phone…
  • Yea, probably. I don't think i have ever bought anything that is specifically advertised as "healthy" or "organic". Though since it is currently a season, i love to buy lot of fresh veggies and mix up a salad of some sort. Still i'm fully aware that despite it being vegetable season and prices being low enough, most of it…

  • I don't really get that "eating healthy is expensive" thing. I've seen it in other threads too. Not sure if it's an US vs. Europe thing, but after i decided to loose some weight i have found that i save a ton of money by eating normal things in normal quantities and not wasting a lot on junk. My food expenses now are at…

  • So i lost over 70 KG. I am lazy, and literally nothing a cook takes me more than 30 mins prep+cook time. But as others have already said, a food scale is most important thing to have in the kitchen.
  • Yep, old phone is good for this. Cheaper too than dedicated scanner for sure.
