  • Does it have to be belly dance specifically? I'm more of a fusion dancer, so my style includes elements of all my training, not just belly dance. Belly dance has heavy influence because it feels like a natural default flow, but I'm very far from purist. I think I'm in if this can include all dance practice. Also, do zils…
  • Agreed. The picture of the plated dish certainly was enough to "nope." Maybe it's good, don't care enough to find out.
  • I don't understand. I spend $55+ per bra anywhere I go. That's how much any bra that actually supports will cost. My back and ta-tas thank me. How much were you expecting to pay?
  • I was wearing a bikini top and shorts when I went to visit family and my mom asked me "Are you really going to walk around with your belly hanging out?" Um. My body fat is 20%. I'm a runner. There is nothing "hanging" anywhere. I don't have rock hard abs, but I definitely don't have "hanging" anything and I think I have…
  • Agreed. Just work in a little extra cardio that day or adjust your goals. You can still lose weight with an occasional treat.
  • Yeah, hiking on uneven terrain activates more muscles for balance. So does walking/running on sand for the same reasons. The ground is shifting beneath you, so your muscles are engaging to stabilize. Walking or hiking are both good ways to lose weight, but while the weather is nice and the trails are good, I recommended…
  • If it makes you feel better, I don't even know what Sam's Club is.
  • I prefer torani, but sometimes davinci is okay for simple flavors. Torani has an amazing sugar free hazelnut that I use on days I have coffee. Torani's SF Almond Roca, Vanilla Bean, Gingerbread, Pumpkin Pie, Irish Cream, or English Toffee are usually on hand in my home for flavored coffee. They also have SF Red Raspberry…
  • Homemade - Pistachio butter with lemon. It's fun to bake with, too.
  • I don't know. I always associate the word"jogging" with bad form. Crossing arms in front, collapsed chest, bouncing motion instead of controlled forward momentum. To me, jogging is like a learning curve for running. That's how it was treated at my schools runners club, anyways.
  • Yeah, don't play that game. Both of you mind your own business. Seems like the easiest solution to set that boundary.
  • Muscle milk light in cake batter. Best smoothies ever.
  • It just takes a long time. If you're logging accurately, it will come off. I wouldn't force the body to over exert. You didn't gain all the weight in a day, and it won't go away overnight. It's really disheartening sometimes, and a lot of expectations when one starts a weightloss journey are inspired by the exceptional…
  • Oats prepared overnight in a crockpot for the best texture, then stir in a tablespoon of Justin's Maple (or vanilla) almond butter and breakfast is pretty much a dessert I can feel good about.
  • There aren't actually any conclusive studies to support that eating protein is what causes kidney failure. More evidence suggests that it will expose any existing weakness in kidney function. The impaired kidneys are pre-existing, and the standard American Diet is so proportionally low in protein that most people wouldn't…
  • He asked what we thought when we look at old pictures.
  • My value as a person never had anything to do with my weight.
  • I used to feel that way, but having my ipod shuffle stolen was pretty liberating. I run more like a meditation now, lost in my head, hearing the world and zoning out, timing my breathing and pounding my own rhythym into the earth. It's pretty relaxing, really. I feel more in tune with myself. There are days now I run with…
  • I do prefer Justin's chocolate hazelnut spread in general, but either one in a crepe. I mean, it really doesn't matter what else goes in the crepe, I will eat it.
  • Yes, it does. No one is obligated to eat healthy or be healthy, whether they exercise or not. Additionally, if this is strictly in regards to weight loss, then it's still true, and this site has had many successes without surrendering foods or food groups.
  • It takes a lot of surplus calories to gain the amount of weight you're fearing. Expect some bloat, maybe eat at a slight deficit for a week or two when you get home and continue maintaining. Is it really worth worrying over? Probably not.
  • I was 190 last year, I'm 140 now. I couldn't always afford to eat, so when my family bought me (usually terrible calorie bombs) food, like nachos, I ate it. All of it. Even so, I've steadily lost about a pound a week for a year now, and even when I didn't have internet and didn't count calories for some weeks. Just don't…
  • You can still gain weight on a surplus of healthy food. Why not both?
  • Not calories to just "survive," it's the calories needed to maintain your body in the state it is in now. The basic survival calorie line is lower, and not ideal, but that estimation sounds about normal for a sedentary lifestyle.
  • This! I've always roasted the whole thing before cutting it so it hasn't been a problem! I eat it with pesto and pancetta, pork&(lite) sun-dried tomato alfredo, and with thai lime peanut sauce and chicken. Spaghetti squash (or any squash really) and spiral-cut veggie "noodles" can be real calorie savers.
  • Because the net target is already enough of a defecit to lose weight, regardless of whether or not you exercise. You can eat up to that defecit and if it's balanced, the target is still under maintainence. You will 1.) lose weight and 2.) not feel ravenous after the workout. It's kind of a win-win.
  • Even fat shaming in the name of genuine health concern can have lasting effects on children that age. Puberty may have some effect on him, especially since testosterone can help boost muscle development. Keep him enrolled in sports and activities that he genuinely enjoys. I'd read through some of the stories on Catay's "I…
  • I recommend at least incorporating strength training of some sort into your routine. Short answer, yes, you will see your abs with only steady cardio. What you're talking about is less a matter of weight loss per se, but a focus on reducing overall body fat percentage. Abs are made in the kitchen, they say. But it won't…
