  • LOL - take this one with a grain of salt as I'm possibly a bit nuts for my solution %) I have problems with my wrists so find floorwork difficult too - but I can withstand almost anything with a straight wrist rather than flat handed - sooo I do my floorwork on fists - Yup - on knuckles. As long as you're on a mat it's no…
  • @austxdreamin Great comments - that helps me too :) I felt I sort of stalled over the last 2 weeks and first got sort of hung up about it but then thought - hey my belt is 3 notches in and I'm wearing trousers that were left in the back of the cupboard over 12 months ago - so what am I miffed about. On top of that I have…

  • In general I think I'm less stressed now due to working out compared to when I was a lazy oaf LOL

  • Fruit salad & makeup has a bit to do with what is best in season but find myself routinely repeating: watermelon, rockmelon/canteloupe, kiwi fruit, orange, mandarine, apple, pear, nectarine, peach, grapes, on & off passionfruit and was getting honeydew but they've gone a bit downhill in Aus just now.
  • "Is the chest strap just a fabric or nylon adjustable strap with a buckle and the device itself attached?" Depends on the make/model - Polars, at least FT models - are fabric/elastic + nylon type section; they are adjustable & the transmitter attaches/detaches. Polar straps can be washed.
  • Point is - accurate count of calories burned. Many other forms are not accurate like MFP exercise database, some gym machines and for me xbox kinect biggest loser. The others often don't take into account age, weight, gender and most don't know your heart rate while active which affects the burn. Good one - easy to use,…
  • @taso42 : Agree, I've started to do that a bit over recent weeks to month. I found when I started exercising regularly I "needed" the added fuel and ending up 500cal under goal at 9 or 10pm is not good. So now having a bit of a routine going I eat more over the whole day. It's also a big incentive to do the workouts if…
  • A lot of successful members seem to suggest nuts as fillers - especially almonds but also cashews and/or dried fruit & nut mixes. They are generally fairly high in calories but good nutritionally.
  • Check this out http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm It includes several calculators including People's Choice - check out the definitions. I used it to help me decide on an initial goal. Cheers
  • @redpiggy - no problem with hijack - happy to help Actually 2 things spring to mind. 1. I do recall us having this hassle way back - it might have been a dashboard/OS issue and was fixed in an update somewhere along the line. 2. Are you connected to Live - I don't mean subs but at least connected to the Web - I have a…
  • PS - I'm going to have to checkout Live or Google to see if there is any way to give feedback to the Developers on what you think they've done right and wrong - hopefully if they listen to the people using the programs they'll get a lot closer to perfect for their next round.
  • For sensor issues in general I believe the higher you mount it the better with 6' being best. I know that seems counter intuitive for it seeing the floor properly but the developer blogs for Kinect put it out there than generally higher is better. We have ours set at about 5' on the top of our 60cm Plasma - but I've bought…
  • @redpiggy - yeh I've seen uncaged mentioned a few times - I think it's at the top of my current rewards list. I can't compare any other fitness program to BLUW as I only have the one. But I think it's brilliant. Closest thing you're going to get to a personal trainer in the living room. Don't get me wrong though it's not…
  • LOL - Good point tdonlin - didn't even notice. Yes - welcome :)
  • Brilliant Avatar - LOL Love it and welcome :)

  • I'm pretty new to this stuff but the research that I've done would mean that there would be little point. The body adjust too quickly; so even if the MFP did it - you'd just be fooling yourself. It's sort of the same as saying can I binge one day and compensate 2 days later - as far as I know - no, your body won't let you…

  • Hey tetsu0sh0 If you base profile says 1640 to consume - it will change as you enter food or exercise each day. So if base is 1640 and you enter 150 cal burn for a run then it will add 150 to your recommended consumption balance. That's about the whole "eat back my exercise calories thing" But - I am no expert by any means…
  • I did a bit of research before deciding on Polar FT7 I faced off Timex T5G971 and the Polar. I decided on the Polar due to friends recommendations that have & have been using one plus although the Timex has a lot of good reviews it also has some complaints of inaccurate cal count & durability issues. The Polar appears to…
  • Congratulations and good luck with the journey
  • Hi there Same as you though only recently I tried Livestrong for iPhone and found it lacking - I couldn't believe how easy and intuitive MFP for iPhone was to use. Anyway - I've been on the lifestyle change about 6 weeks and with MFP 25 days and find it fantastic. I find eating healthier & lightweight easy with MFP and I…
  • Right or not I can't say - I've only been at this 6 weeks myself but so far so good & I try to stay above 1200 net & no more than 300 or so under goal. Buttt if you haven't already seen it - here is possibly some answers to the questions: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/10665-newbies-please-read-me-2nd-edition…
  • LOL that's great. No GS cookies here but makes me want to go with a big black marker pen to "all" the high cal stuff put in the pantry by my diet sabotaging family :O
  • @kamechaf - Polar FT7 I looked at the Timex T5G971 too but didn't like some reports on calorie burn accuracy and durability - also not avail in Aus - I still would've got it via Amazon if I really wanted it though. But I decided on FT7 - heard lots of good things about it and 1 of my MFP friends swears by it. Cheers
  • Oh yeh - I also have a HRM on it's way to me right now - I'll be using it to track HR & calorie burn for Games/programs that don't include calorie tracking as well as hold the calorie tracking of BLUW accountable to see if it is actually reasonably accurate.
  • Yup - apart from a bit of walking every weekday - Kinect is my personal trainer. I've been using Biggest Loser Ultimate Workout and Adventures (Reflex Ridge is a killer). I've settled back to about 4 to 5 x 30min sessions a week on BLUW + 2 x 30-40min on Adventures. I've just changed it to 3 x 50min on BLUW and still plan…
  • Depending on how long you've been with MFP you may have already read through this - but I find a lot of interesting things to do with the dynamics. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/10665-newbies-please-read-me-2nd-edition Particularly the 3rd & 4th link in the initial post. Cheers
  • Hey coltsfan2 - being an IT pro for work and kids that are IT nuts too - we have had or do have just about the lot. Had a Wii but just never really got into it. For me the Kinect being full body and free of controllers is just ummm errr LOL can't explain it - bit scary actually LOL The big thing though too is it is…
  • Yep have to agree with that kasonsawyer - I narrowed it to 2 - the Timex and the Polar FT7 "as well" And after some digging opted to shell out the extra :) Mine's in the mail so hope it lives up to it - really sounds like it does.
  • Timex T5G971 seems to have a lot of support - although there are some user reviews on Amazon that gripe of inaccurate cal count - overall though very popular lower priced piece.
