Most people definitely overestimate the risk to women of running alone at night, or of just being a woman in the world at night without a chaperone in general. That said, I personally know three women that have been assaulted while running or walking. This is not alarmist fear-talk. It's just a fact. Most women that I know…

Ice cream. One serving of ice cream is such a sad little amount.

I stand up and attack the short steep hills and sit down and slowly spin my way up the big hills.

I tried a water fast once. I was miserable. It was years ago, before I went back to school to study nutrition. At the time I was buying into the idea of "clean eating" and detox diets. I subjected my body to a lot of really rigorous, unneccessary procedures like extended fasts, colonics, nasal flossing (Google it! It's…

Heineken? *kitten* that *kitten*! Pabst Blue Ribbon! Sorry. It's a quote from a movie. I was honestly really hoping someone would say Heineken just so I could quote Blue Velvet.
-
Yeah. A kitten puncher would be a particularly, um, well-endowed gentleman. I don't think it's a widely-used phrase. We built a go-kart out of a trashcan once and named it "the Kitten Puncher."

Pabst Blue Ribbon!

Kitten punching means something quite different where I come from.

I'm totally pinning that, girl.

Bam.

It didn't take any effort at all. I just walked into the gym and picked up a 100-pound dumbbell and started curling it. I wouldn't call it a "manly" weight, though. It was pink and glittery and it had cats on it.

Beautiful. This whole piece is something to return to when the mean self-critic in me starts making rude comments. Which she does. I have a computer file of stuff like this that helps to silence that voice. This is a good addition. Thank you.

5'9" 34 yo 162#. HW:180# GW: 156# I try to eat 2100 calories a day and get loads and loads of physical activity. I bike commute around 150 miles each week, lift weights and do yoga in addition to working an active, on-my-feet job, walking the dogs everyday and teaching hands-on cooking classes part-time. I often go way…

7-Keto or 7-Keto-DHEA is an over-the-counter steroidal supplement that has demonstrated metabolic enhancement in mouse studies. It is thermogenic, meaning it increases body temperature, which accelerates fat utilization. There has been one human study that showed a small metabolic benefit from using 7-Keto. The research on…

The Garden of Life raw probiotic line is awesome but pricey: They are one of the only companies that cold-ships their product, so if you buy it in a store, you know that it arrived at the proper temperature. They also over-formulate their products to ensure that you are getting *at least* as many live bacterial cells per…

Eating food after drinking alcohol can help you bounce back more quickly the next day. Alcohol metabolism causes blood sugar levels to drop below normal, so eating something (even fast food) after a night of drinking can normalize your blood sugar level and help prevent a hangover the next day. So I'd say that late-night…

Here is a prime example of some of the challenges that have been brought up in his thread: My boyfriend has been in Kazakhstan on business for a month. He will be here this weekend before heading back out of town on Monday for 11 days. This weekend also happens to be the date of a two-day, 100-mile bike event that I have…
