I started at size 18/20 at 220, now down to high 190s and fitting in my 16s again at 5'8".

I've been on them and it didn't affect weight. What it will affect is your ability to do intense exercise, as your heart rate just can't keep up and you'll tire quickly. But stick with the slow burn and you should be fine.

So we'll see you back here in a year when you've regained whatever you lose and then some. Maybe then you'll be ready to do something sustainable!

Sweet potato noodles! Sauteed up with some onions, so delicious.

Yes, when you drink alcohol, your body processes it first, before any calories from food.

If your gut flora is already fine, then you're already fine. Probiotics are generally good after you've taken antibiotics which wipe out all the bacteria in your gut, or if you're struggling with other digestive issues. But if your gut flora is already fine, they won't do much. A better idea would be to incorporate…

I used to live on Big Pine Key, about 30 miles up-island from Key West. The Blue Hole for wildlife. No Name Pub for island ambiance. Snorkel Looe Key. Key West best bar is Green Parrot Bar, which Julie apparently found!

I watched this a few months ago and then googled him to see what he was up to, and was also shocked that he'd passed. Very sad.

You're going to Key West! Eat lots of fish! Go to Blue Heaven and El Siboney. And you know what, enjoy yourself. Do maintenance. (Used to live there. Sigh...)
-
My best advice is don't be in a hurry. Eat in a way that you will be happy to do forever. Don't try to speed it up too much.

I went off PPIs in April after being on them for 25 years. It's still a struggle. Losing weight is one of the best things you can do. I take DGL as needed, supplement with L-glutamine, zinc carnosine, slippery elm, aloe, and a few other things. I do Tums if it's bad, and Zantac if it's really bad (or if I want a few…

Hello! And welcome! I'm kind of new too (well, returning), and we're all in this together!
-
I'm right there with you. We can choose a better life! It's not really that difficult!
-
I'm from Indiana, USA! Nice to meet you.
-
Good for you! So you are down 100 already?
-
There's a whole community of folks here in the same boat. We're all in this together!

I'm 46 with 50 to lose (actually, 44 now!). I am definitely motivated! The community can really be helpful.

If you only have 15 pounds to lose, I'd suggest taking it slow. In the past, when I've gone on a DIET, I end up gaining more in the long run. For 15 pounds, track your food, but only go for 1 pound a week, maybe. Do some strength training--that helps your overall look. Eat high fiber and protein foods and you'll never be…

For a free app, MFP offers an amazing array of options, from the tracking to the articles to the forums. Did you just start? I'm a returning member but I'm in it this time. Feel free to add me if you want more friends!

So do I just figure MFP assumes I'm about 2070 cals/day for NEAT since that's 500 more than my daily calorie goal?
-
Ok, that makes more sense. I somehow figured being "sedentary" was pretty close to lying in a coma. Some days... Thanks!

I'm 5'8", started at 220, currently 213. Happy to have more friends!

I eat something light--maybe 200 calories or so--around 10am, which is when I get hungry. Usually it's something like protein powder in coffee, instant oatmeal, instant soup, or last night's leftovers. I do inadvertent intermittent fasting where I usually eat between 10 and 6.

I'm in! I'm 46. Went to get out my fall/winter clothes after summer was over, and none of my pants fit! And I really don't feel like going out and buying new clothes, so I'm in skirts with elastic waistbands for awhile. Ha! But also, I have high triglycerides, borderline high cholesterol, and I get winded going up a flight…

46 here. Ready to get off the couch! Can always use more friends!

Two eggs scrambled with peppers and onions, with salsa and guacamole on the side. And a big mug of chai tea!

I make big batches of soups or stews to eat for lunch throughout the week. I add all the raw ingredients to the recipe, and when it's done cooking, I put it in a big plastic bowl with a one cup measuring cup. Then, however many cups it is, is the number of servings, and one cup is serving size. For lunch, I may take 1 or 2…

I'm in the 50-to-go club, too.

I'm 46 and have about 50 to go. We can do this!
