Where is it written that one is in deprivation mode or one is extremist for not choosing to moderate the chips, cookies and diet soda pops. The idea that one has to keep these in ones diet and moderate them is silly in my opinion. It is easy to have a sugary drink: eg fresh fruit juice and carbonated water, A cookie,…

I think there may be more at play for the yo yo dieter than will power. The Fat Trap: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/01/magazine/tara-parker-pope-fat-trap.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0 It concerns a study on a 54 obese people 200-230 pounds who were put on a low cal diet of 500-550 cals for a 10 week period. . Once completed…

This post raised a question for me , I thought what was the calorie intake of a concentration camp victim in the second world war. I did a search on the web and found some information posted on one of the blogs 180degreehealth.com/2010/01/the-concentration-camp-diet With the Minnesota Diet it was for a six month time…

Thanks for the research on this. I don't trust naturopaths. CBC did a great piece on homeopaths con or cure. It is about an 1/2 hour program. It was fun to watch , an expose. They did a spectrum analysis in the lab on the products that were being sold to the public and couldn't find a trace amount of the claimed…

It isn't about control. I think the OP's poster of comparing processed foods and sugars to cigarettes is an accurate assessment. They have done brain imaging with the MRI and have shown a difference between people who are obese and those who are not. The obese person will react to an image of food, parts of their brain…

I have not been a diet soda user. It makes me ill, physically ill I get horrible headaches from it. So obviously it is the additives , more than likely the aspartame. I know it is not the carbonated water because I have used that with my various fresh juices and I do not have headaches. I prefer adding my own ingredients…

Look diet soda sales are down , the tide is going out on them nbc news this Aug/2013 http://www.nbcnews.com/health/amid-falling-sales-coke-launches-campaign-defend-sweetener-6C10920355 to countert the falling sales Coke is launching a ad campaign. to defend its artificial sweetner. Personally I don't think it will do much…

carbonated water is not "evil" if that is the word you choose to use. In fact you can create your own soda drinks by squeezing fresh fruit juices, veggie juice and adding these to the carbonated water, Carbonated water is fine. With the sodas it is the added ingredients eg aspartame, the food coloring, the caffeine, the…

Hey when you see the same old posters posting info to sell you the idea that junk food is good it contains macros I do wonder who is getting paid $$$$. Same with the posts critical of diet soda. The same old posters appear right on cue with the same old gifs {yawn yawn} in what appears to be an attempt to discredit the…

I have given up a lot of prepackaged sweetened foods. The idea that removing processed sweetened foods is going Cold Turkey is quite silly , unless the person who is giving up this type of food has a sugar addiction then Cold Turkey would apply much like a person giving up drugs. I cleaned my cupboard and took out foods…

I didn't realize the aspartame patent expired now everyone is on the action! http://thenaturaladvocate.blogspot.ca/2011/04/another-reason-not-to-trust-snopes.html

I do not understand this idea that if the OP gives up junk food that he is depriving himself. How is deprivation associated with sugary foods, empty calorie foods, foods that make you fat , foods that create hunger and make you eat more? How is it considered a treat?? Millions of years ago people evolved with taste buds…

Personally I would not want to spend $18 every month for a lifetime. they offer it free if you achieve a goal weight and keep within a couple pound margins. I do wonder how many people are still qualified for that category. I do see the value of support groups and talking about healthy food. I do have a concern for a…

When I go walking it is with a one litre bottle of water, when I finish my big walk I feel full. Less likely to eat for a couple of hours, water keeps my food schedule in check , plus flushes the kidneys and is important with passing high fibers through the body's system.

I use some protein items, like almonds, lo fat baby biel cheese, vanilla lo fat greek yogurt with fresh fruit, a small piece of bread/cracker with hummus. Protein curbs the hunger better than store bought snacks.

I have a semi clogged shower drain, I wonder if should take up on the OP's bright idea of pouring canned diet soda's down it , running a test so to speak, it could well turn out to be a less toxic alternative to clearing drain pipes as DRANO is heavy duty.

Peaches are wonderful, I love the peaches, Peaches peeled with Vanilla Lo Fat Greek Yogurt plus some blueberries, yummy yummy

I don't think the OP is going into deprivation mode, they have hired a nutritionist to do their meals , so common sense applies they will be eating a far healthier diet. Filling up on real good food that keeps them full. My best guess is they made a correlation between eating junk food and the cravings that get set off…

that is really good.

caffeine withdrawal takes nearly a week or a little longer to get over, sluggishness and headaches are part of it. I was on you tube the other week watching a BBC doc The Truth About Food I forget which part , anyway they BBC tested two of its employees on this. They were a couple and truly believed they couldn't live…

Keep up the good work If you like that fizziness and do not want the chemicals that come with sodas try this on Carbonated water, add fresh berries, fresh orange juice , fresh grapefruit juice, cucumber and mint. Carbonated water is very neutral, no sugars, and no additives. and the fruit juice you add which if squeezed at…

So you are suggesting there is a gang of regulars who when they don't like what a new poster is posting they gang up on them?

Why the hostility, Could it be they own shares in the soda pop companies??? Speaking of bullies you can see the strong arm tactics the sugar industry and the supporters employ : This subject came up in the "Men who Made us Fat" a BBC doc on You Tube: This comes from the Gaurdian NewsPaper and as MFP does not hypelink I…
