Pick a time of day that works well for you. For me it is first thing in the morning; if I don't it doesn't happen. I didn't exercise for years because I kept thinking I would do in the evening when I got home. It never and will never happen. But I can get right out of bed and work out. Find something you enjoy. If you are…

I am a lot older that you are but we are the same height. I have been maintaining 125 pounds for about a year and a half after losing thirty pounds. I know exactly what you mean about deciding your goal weight as you go. I was originally aiming for 135 but when I got there I wasn't happy. Always happy for new friends.

Added you. :)

When I am on vacation I allow myself to splurge one meal and keep it reasonable and healthy the rest of the time. But don't stress too much; have fun and get back on track when you return.

I agree; it's more about them than you. It does irritate me though.

I ate whatever I wanted despite the fact that I was forty and no longer had the metabolism or the physical activity level of my younger self. I have now lost the weight and I am working on maintaining; which isn't easy either!

Micro managers are the worst. I am a clinic nurse and love my job; still a lot of time on my feet but (usually) not quite the pace of of some other nursing professions.

I work out first thing in the morning; I have found I either do it then or I never end up doing it. I don't eat before, drink water during my workout and then eat breakfast right afterward. It works well for me. Even when i am really hungry in the morning, which I often am, it hasn't caused a problem.

I never had to worry about my weight until I turned 40 and then it all went down hill. But that said I managed to lose 30 pounds and am now 5'4" 125 pounds. Maintenance is my new challenge.

I find it hard not to go over on protein too. The standard recommendation for feeling full and not overeating is protein at every meal and protein when you snack. That leads to a lot of protein.

I know what you are saying. I can feel great one day and fat the next. We are our own worst critic.

I have been maintaining for a few months now and no problems. I weight myself at least every other day and definitely still count calories every day. I have heard maintaining is way harder than losing, so I am a little nervous too. But I think you just have to approach it the same you lost it.

I have been doing the 30DS for a while now. I started with Level 1 for several days straight and my knees and hips were killing me. Climbing stairs about did me in. No bladder issues since I don't have kids. So I have been doing it several days a week and the other days I do other exercise; yoga, Elliptical and other…

I added you.

Good morning! It is cold today. I live in North Mankato; which is in southern Minnesota about 80 miles south of the twin cities. I have been married for 21 years, childless by choice and I am a nurse. I love that there is a Minnesota group here.

I was effortlessly skinny until I hit 40; seriously. I never stepped on scale, didn't exercise and could eat and drink what I wanted. I went back on the birth control pill around 40 to control my horrendous cramps. I don't care what anyone says; maybe the Pill doesn't make you gain weight, but it sure made it easier for me…

HI all, just joined this group this morning. :) I am 45, married for 22 years to a great guy and childless by choice. I am a nurse. I am love to eat, love to cook and love to dine out. This wasn't a problem until right around the time I turned 40. Slowly the pants were getting tighter and I had to go up a size. After a few…

I think you hit the nail on the head; it is insecurity and jealousy. People just have such a hard time being genuinely happy for one another. I am so proud of my weight loss I can hardly stand it, but I rarely bring it up unless someone else does.

I'm 45 and just wanted to welcome you to the site. It is fantastic!

Oh man, don't tell me that!! I have been doing Level One for a while and I don't have the nerve to move up. :-) They are a great workout! Longest twenty minutes of my day.
