Good morning everyone! Christmas parties are now behind me for at least a week. Whew! Won't pretend I did well, but today is a new day. Working on "guns" this morning (gotta get ready for that bakery war!). Walking the dog this morning I listened to the Body Do-over podcast. If you haven't listened, it is generally worth…

HammerJammer that is great advice. Gird your loins and sharpen your sword!

Happy Wednesday! I had a lot of fun at a "discovery archery" lesson yesterday - just a reminder to keep mixing things up to use different muscles and have fun. Today is the Christmas party at my office, which my department always follows up with dinner out. Food and drink followed by food and drink. This will just be my…

Heron, do you use just coconut oil for the MCT, or something more special? FYI, my brain function increased dramatically when I stopped eating grains. I was able to learn 75 new student names the first day of class. Previously it would have taken a few weeks. You might see a big difference with your MCT oil, too.

Good morning everyone. Good day yesterday - ate well, lots of water, lots of walking. Didn't start that cleanse. On my way to the gym for a legs & core workout!

Can you feel my envy? I have always wanted to try one of those classes, but there are none in the area. I'm turning green! Where are you located?

Good morning everyone. Slept poorly because of that stupid bagel. I need to remind myself that grains just don't make me happy no matter how good they taste. But it is a new and bright day! The resolutions begin again with new resolve! I really need to do a 2 or 3 day cleanse (that would ace the water challenge!), but have…

I forget who said this (maybe Relentless Roger?) but I drink 20 ounces within 20 minutes of getting up. 20 in 20. Of course, the same person also said 30 grams of protein within 30 minutes after that, and I don't quite get that in within the 30 minutes. Anyway, 20 ounces right away gets you a third of the way! I'm already…

Just got in from a day in NYC celebrating my daughter's birthday. Lots of walking, but also a bagel with lox for dinner. I'll regret it tomorrow but enjoyed it today. Welcome to all the newbies! Now, a quick stroll with my pup Henry, then off to bed.

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope you all have a good day enjoying sports, shopping, decorating, relaxing or whatever else you do in the weekends before the holidays. I'm on my way to the gym for boot camp, and then to a Christmas concert with my mom. Trying to decide whether to workout just on a fat bomb or to have protein…

Good morning, everyone! I have a massage that I received as a gift that I am using today, so that will be nice. But the only time slot was 8:45 AM. Who wants a massage first thing in the morning?! Have a great day everyone!

Oh venison chili. Love it!

Just ate a fat bomb and now I'm headed to the gym to lift - arms and chest/back today. The freezing rain finally ended, so walking is much nicer. 40 degrees and sunny. Nice work Kris! Up over 1000 is a win for the day. Hope the blood work turns out good results. FYI for those of you worried about the effect of HFLC on your…

Hey! Baby back ribs have a lot of fat and are yummy! Might have them more often. They have protein too, of course, but it looks like protein:fat is 1:1

Heron, I am a sugarholic too. My drug of choice i s candy, especially Reese's PB Cups. But, at least that is portion controlled - I am happy eating one if it is wrapped as a single. Basically, I eat whatever the package is. A one-pound bag of M&Ms is a single serving to me, but so is a snack-size bag. The moral of that…

Oh, last night was bad. Christmas cookie night at my knitting guild. Headache today from the sugar and grains! I earned it. Hope you're all doing well. I have an important meeting today at noon, so I'm a bit nervous and excited. Trying not to let that get to me, and I will NOT celebrate with food if it goes well. I might…

Kris, I'm a certified Zumba instructor. It can be really hard on your knees, so be careful. It is the most common injury we see.If you are wearing regular sneakers, go get a cheap pair of keds or something else super-smooth on the bottom. You want to be able to twist and turn with almost no friction. I know a lot of people…

P.S. JT asked about adding fat to his alcohol (I know it was tongue in cheek). But, it is called Hot Buttered Rum, and it is tasty! Dang those carbs in the rum!

Just listened to the latest show, then went to Health Nuts Anonymous to listen to the fat episode. That doctor has some good information but does seem to be a little bit over the edge. I'd like to read some of the research he is citing - I'll keep you all posted. I am trying to eat more fat, but it is hard. I don't drink…

Thanks for the update! That was my biggest problem since I try to have non-computer days.

Good morning! Back in the saddle! I'm headed to the gym this morning with my nephew who is home from his first Marine deployment. And, back to work. The weekend wasn't too bad. Got in some good workouts and didn't eat too much. But I didn't spend as much time outside as I had hoped despite the reasonable weather. I walk a…

Hi everybody (or every body!). I've been avoiding working out for two weeks to try to let my shoulder heal - not a big injury but a niggling pain that never went away and that was always exacerbated by lifting weight even for leg work. I think it is the pulling down motion. Anyway, I miss it, and was hoping to run, but it…

Hi TJ, Enjoy the cruise. Just remember that their desserts are never as good as they look. There are loads of veggies and salads already prepared for you, and plenty of decent protein options. Depending on the ship, you might have a great fitness center. Just take it easy on the alcohol and you can be fine! The last cruise…

Angela, I do something similar to your crockpot salsa chicken, but add about 1/3 cup of peanut butter at the beginning. It sounds awful, but gets kind of like a Thai peanut sauce when it cooks.

Hi everyone! I seldom look at MFP from the computer so don't usually get to see all this great stuff. I am so stoked that Stacy is doing the 21 day detox! My "big report" for the week is I finally did a back squat of 100 pounds. Woo-hoo! My body really hangs onto its weight. If I lose .8 pounds in a week I'm thrilled.…

I'm Cynthia. Already know some of you, but it is nice to learn the others!

Daring? Body confidence? Not me! I even ran the Mudder in long sleeves and shorts over my leggings! What's up with that?! I won't wear sleeveless to teach, so the students don't see the flags flying under my arms. Revealing is not in my wardrobe. I'm committed to changing both my self-perception and my body fat %, so we'll…

Hi everyone! I know it sounds crazy, but this is the first time I've been at a real computer this month. So, no August Challenge for me! But, I wanted to cheer you all on. This is a super idea. I just wish it worked from a phone <sigh>. I am so impressed with your discussions, and the check-in is a wonderful motivator. I…

ONE MONTH FROM TODAY!!!! See you all in Nashville!

Got the e-book. Going to read it this week. I made fat bombs yesterday for my morning "meal" when I'm ready to get started. I'll keep you posted. Not being hungry sounds like a good option, Carol! Fingers crossed... I'm sure you don't have to eat donuts. There are non-grain carbs that are way healthier, like sweet potatoes…
