I too had complictions with a stricture on my sleeve. I too was in the hospital for 18 days - what I do, and it is hard, is to not look back and just look forward. It is depressing and I was situationally depressed - thought I was going to die. Yes, that serious for me. but I am taking one day at a time. Hang in there and…

I had a lot of regrets! I also had issues with a stricture that set me back many weeks. Ended up in the hospital for 18 days. right not I still have issues with eating slower and getting in the food, but I am looking forward - not backward. I hope I have done the right thing. but this is a totally new way of living. I…

thanks - it has been a rough road for me. never thought such a small thing like 1/2 of a sandwich could make me happy.

so sorry for your loss. May his memory be eternal.

Taste buds do change - I have found that out. And that is my ideal dinner - steak and salad! If you do try salmon - try poaching it in water with lemon. It comes out much more moist and easier to digest.

I need to weigh in on this issue. without me knowing - I had a stricture that prevented me from eating and drinking. I ended up dehydrated with my electrolytes all down and in the hospital. talk with your surgeon about these issues. don't be afraid to do this. I ended up in the hospital twice. I had my surgery on March 27…

you look fantastic - but you already know that because of the vibrant smile you have. best of luck on the rest of your journey

Hi - I had my surgery on 3/27 - down 34 lbs. but was sick with nausea - today first day not feeling ill. gotta learn to eat slowly and small portions. easier said than done. trying to get in my water.
-
I can strongly relate - i am having that issue now and I was sleeved March 27. forget the protein - i can't take that in. I am trying to drink water often but I am even having trouble with my second phase.

try cutting it in half with 1% milk. that is what I had to do.

Hi there, three weeks out today and down 24.4 lbs. we can do it!
-
I went in on 3/27 - Thursday morning - operated that day including a hiatal hernia and was released Saturday early evening. I had no pain just not enough sleep. no contractions - nothing like that - thank God. My surgeon will not have me going back until he sees me which is the 14th. my third week. although I have a desk…

so happy for you - all the best as you continue your journey
-
you are doing great. take it slowly.

that was the same thing that happened to me. I had bought lots of pure protein drinks to keep on hand for after surgery - couldn't even stand to look at them. What I did do, after 11 days out, was cut the protein drink with 1% milk. it did the trick. so I got half the grams of protein plus the 1% milk protein - was ok for…

I am 11 days out. My surgeon has schedule my return date to work on April 21. He has all of his patients going back after 3 weeks, not before. I just had a bowel movement this morning (sorry) but it was a concern to me. I could not imagine going back sooner. But each surgeon is different. my eating is not the greatest.…

running into this now - any suggestions - I am 10 days out

what a great report! I am so happy for you and you are dong all that is required. I wish I could get a protein drink in me! I'm struggling to get down 64 oz. of water.

I agree with you. I am 7 days out of surgery. we all went through so much to become healthier - why divert back to the problem in the first place. I sometimes say to myself, "what did I do!" but when I think of the future, I want to be healthier and of course, look great. Don't jeopardize the main purpose. stick with it…

best of luck. if you get to send anything to mfp - I admire you because I could not. four days out and still feeling pain when I bend or turn. my surgery was at 11:50 and didn't get back to my room till 4:30 I am sure you will do fine. I'm learning every day - but people I have met on mfp have been great.

Mine is next Thursday! excited and scared!

That must be a great feeling - "Shopping in your closet" I have done the same - I put away clothes I had (expensive Jones of New York, etc.) in hopes of fitting into them. I have about 5 plastic bins!!! Can't wait to open them up in a few months!

Good Luck!

Mcastgirlnc - I say wait till you see what you want to see! I too had a goal of losing 80 pounds. But after speaking with my psych. doc, he said that "you don't want to look too skinny and boney - You want to look healthy". So I reevaluated my goal weight from 145-150 to 160. I remember when I was 160 and I was a solid 8…
