I've done that at times. And riding my bicycle is kind of like the yoga/meditation: It takes the distraction of food away and elevates my mood.

When my calories are spent, they're spent. I make a point of putting in my calories when I eat them, and I just don't let myself go negative (well, maybe just a little once in a while... less than 100 calories). But just thinking about entering them, and checking my phone to see how many calories I've got left, is usually…

I don't think you use the word friend in the same sense I do.

I regularly have In N Out- single cheesburger, animal style, 480 calories. I've done away with the shake and fries though. As for the earlier question, a Steak, Egg & Cheese Bagel at McD's is 680 calories.

Too many variables to figure out the relationship, but yeah, I'm definitely getting faster on my bicycle. I really notice the difference on the hills. 10% less weight to carry up does make a difference.

An Egg McMuffin is only 300 calories. That's about what I typically have for breakfast anyway. A Steak, Egg & Cheese Bagel on the other hand...

I realize that every physical activity does, in fact, burn calories, but I don't think me walking my dog burns enough calories over my normal calorie burn rate that it is worth logging on MFP. If someone were extremely sedentary and sat on the couch watching TV all day and walking the dog was the only time he got up off…

I've been riding for several years, and that's a better total than I had 4 months this year. 229 is great for a beginning rider.

Your post is nothing short of heroic. It's hard to get out there as a rank amateur at any activity when you're surrounded by experts. Trust me though: when the experts see your dedication, they will be impressed and most will be very encouraging. There's that Facebook pic that's been floating around showing a heavy runner…

It's a receptive audience; many are in the same boat- trying to be comfortable in our own skin while simultaneously trying to lose weight/tone up/etc. I'm kind of outside of a lot of that; I'm married 29 years, not really on the make, but not above a little flirting. Just don't take me seriously.

I have a Cygo Lite Rover II, which at this point is kind of obsolete. Most people seem to use Cygo Lites or NIght Riders.
