  • I will certainly put it off as long as I can! :glasses:
  • HA! There is definitely a reason I don't want to move any further north. I have lived on the same latitude line my whole life - We didn't know what to do last winter when it got below 12 degress. I have friends in Canada that laugh at me every winter! :drinker:
  • I bought 5 pounds but there are places where in the beginning, that was almost too much. It's not the weight so much as the number of repetitions! GOOD LUCK!
  • I grew up in New Mexico - home of the green chile. I HIGHLY recommend looking for frozen green chiles in the freezer section near the frozen fruits versus the canned kind. MUCH more wonderful flavor! We'll be eating this soon at our house!
  • I'm glad you asked this! Down here in Texas, we DO get cold weather but not a lot of snow. My brother has graciously loaned me his treadmill for the winter, since he has no room for it, but I actually hope to continue outside as much as possible. A friend and I have plans to map various parks and decent running areas…
  • I really enjoy the Bolthouse Farms Protein drinks that are sold near the salads at our grocery stores. I am not a fan of powders and these are YUMMY for a morning 'treat'.
  • My whole family takes Juice+. it's not meant as an alternative to healthy eating or fresh fruit & vegetables. It's just like any other SUPPLEMENT & meant to add to what you're doing. Several times I have stopped taking or ran out & within a few weeks I notice my craving for sweets increase. My boys both take the children's…
  • I'm a little past you - I just ran in my first 5K last weekend. :glasses: I have my second race coming up this weekend. I did use the C25K plan to get me here, though! Let me know if I can be of help! GOOOD LUCK
  • Good thing no one knew I had the hrm strap under my sports bra, too, or they really would have thought I was a dweeb!
  • I have a blackberry but didn't want to mess with the app business and carrying around my phone. I went to Academy and bought a $5 wristwatch/stopwatch and would do the same, just watch my time. I do run on our school's track, and before long, you begin to see about where you should be so that it doesn't take as much…
  • Awesome thought - thanks for sharing, you healthy person you! ;)
  • I started back at the first of the summer & it seemed like it kicked my tail. I had almost quit, after I built up to the 20 minute runs because I felt like I was hitting a wall. About that time, a friend suggested we sign up for the Race for the Cure on Oct 1st. That gave me a goal & a reason to push myself. I ran my 3…
  • In our house, with 2 little boys, we fix it and eat it with ground hamburger meat and marinara, just like we do with spaghetti noodles, I do put a little olive oil or butter on it after it's cooked. A small sprinkle of parmesean at that end is delightful!
  • Looks fantastic!
  • I run my first 5K on October 1 for The Race for the Cure - I'm interested in any information you get. Congrats MRK on your progress!
  • My first... BUMP!:flowerforyou:
  • I agree that you should still be allowing yourself some treats but if you want some good recipes www.skinnytaste.com has a few yummy choices.
  • I love my Asics nimbus. I got them at Academy.
  • My hubby hid mine a week & a half ago - it's not coming out again for 4 weeks. I was tired of busting my tail & getting frustrated when I didn't see the numbers move. GOOD LUCK!
  • I got the Polar Ft4 for around $70. One of my mfp friends & my brother did as well. We all are very happy with our results!
  • Love my ft4 with chest strap!
  • Everyone needs to check out c25k.com for free! I was absolutely not a runner - this morning I ran 2 1/4 miles & walked another 2 miles. If you need slower increments I've heard there's a c210k program. BEST OF LUCK!
  • I grew up in New Mexico on REAL Mexican food and am super picky about how it tastes but I fixed this in less than 5 minutes tonight and it was INCREDIBLE!
  • It would be well worth your time to invest in an HRM to log your runs. I tried logging it by putting in the total number of minutes walking and total number of minutes running, but you'll burn more than that because your heart rate stays up longer than what that entry will give you. I got the Polar Ft4 for about $70 and…
  • I didn't just do the 3 reps each week. I've tried doing 4 or 5 of each week before moving on. I'm not on Week 5 where they daily start changing and I'm repeating them once or twice until I feel comfortable moving to the next step. It has made me a lot more confident and willing to stick with it! I do HIGHLY recommend an…

  • C25K was my number one reason for getting a Heart Rate Monitor because you're burning more than what it says by totalling up your walking time and your running time because your heart rate is staying up during all of that. I have been repeating days, instead of just doing 3 nights of one week, doing 4 or 5, before I moved…
  • I live in West Texas; right now we'd give ANYTHING for a wet day but I do hate being in the famous West Texas wind. Anything over 20 mph and I'm OUT.
  • I've been doing Day 1 of each week for 20 minutes, like the program says, then on Day 2 & 3, I try to go for 30 minutes. THEN, if I can, I try to get in a 4th day for 20 minutes. I feel like I need more time with each level. So far, it has made advancing to the next level a 'little' easier...
  • I have REALLY enjoyed this website for meals and some homemade snacks: www.skinnytaste.com They are all REALLY yummy and both my little boys will eat them, too. I love grapes, even frozen (slows you down and gives a completely different take on them.), and the vitatop muffins, if you can find them in your local freezer…
  • My elliptical is HARD! It is almost a combination between a stair stepper and an elliptical, even though it wasn't advertised that way. If it's NOT a good workout, something is SERIOUSLY wrong. Good question!
