  • Krislshoe and I are great friends and serious runners - join our club of fun! ha ha ha
  • I have multiple Killian (Jillian Michael's) dvds and find that I get less bored if I switch it up. I'm doing Ripped in 30 right now and I like it a LOT more than 30 Day Shred. Plus, i have a couple of her longer dvds like No More Trouble Zones and Killer Buns & Thighs for days when I want a better burn. Plus, I just ran my…
  • That's a very Tawna-esque question! :) Now that you asked it, I'm curious of the same thing. I do realize now that I am more fit, my heart rate comes down a LOT quicker and it takes more to get it up there...
  • I live in West Texas - no humidity but it was 104 already two days ago. I bought me a camelPak off the internet (they also have them at Academy) and I LOVE it. I can carry my GU gels, put my phone in it and it keeps me cool, too. ha ha I do think with summer approaching and long run in your future, you do need to make…
  • Welch, America. :) Thanks for the add!
  • I'm a 35 year old high school Enlish teacher and I secretly loved the Twilight books and the Harry Potter series. The 3 Hunger Game books are good. I'm a HUGE fan of Janet Evanovich's books - starting with "One for the Money" and continuing through the series. (They're light read, good story line, funny, etc...) I also…
  • I'm working towards a half now. I've NEVER been an athlete and only took up running about one year ago using the C25K running schedule. I've been using Jeff Galloway's training schedule: http://www.jeffgalloway.com/training/half_marathon.html I have really enjoyed it! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!
  • I'm following the Galloway training, which has the two short long runs and the long weekend run. I think it's set up in a way that as you get closer to time, you could eliminate some of the "Training" races and just get to 13.1. Let me know what you decide and GOOD LUCK. I have my 12.5 mile run coming up this Saturday and…
  • I'm really interested in responses to this because I have horrible cramps after long runs. I ran 11 miles Friday and ate supper too soon - I was sick for 2 or 3 hours...
  • The bell pepper soup is one of my favorites!
  • There is a C210K program. Google it. It's from the same people that did C25K.
  • Hey beautiful - I have the camelpak and so hydration isn't an issue for me. Yesterday, I took a GU gel before I started and one at the halfway mark, which was around 45 minutes in. For the last two runs, I get home and just veg for a good hour - maybe I'm not giving myself enough credit for what I just accomplished! :)
  • I LOVE THIS IDEA, Natas! You can count me in. HOW FUN!
  • Search through the community posts. I found one for the steel cut/Irish oats - you use dried fruit in it and cinnamon. I got it off this website. The steel oats take longer to cook so they are a good option for crock pot recipes. I do recommend a liner because it can get a little 'sticky'.
  • I grew up south of Portales 20 miles. My mom lives in Portales and my dad & step-mom live 30 miles south of there. ha ha! Small world!
  • You're in for some good quiet time. There are some great Mexican food places and you MUST eat at Zentner's Daughter Steak House. There are bars there, small town bars but remember, college is out for the semester so they aren't going to be 'hopping'. I don't know where you're from but Fredricksburg is about 2 1/2 hours…
  • My first pair were Asics Nimbus that I got for $100 at out local Academy store. LOVE! Went to our local 'shoe' fitting/running store & got Brooks all-season (winter shoe) for $115. I don't love them more than my Asics but I think it's because they aren't as light but they will be a bit warmer for this winter.
  • She's beating you at multiple battles - the workout battle and the bedtime battle. With all the kindness in my heart, you have to start winning some or you are going to be too drained for anything that is important to you, especially if you plan on having any more children. I have a 3 year old and a 6 year old. They both…
  • Just don't eat anything huge right beforehand. Eat a good breakfast and a good lunch; maybe a banana or something prior to the race. For evening races, I like to wait and eat supper afterwards, if the race time isn't too late. Just drink lots of water that day but be mindful of how much you drink the hour before the race.…
  • Polar ft4 - only about $75 and has the basic features that you USE without a lot of extra stuff for extra cost.
  • My husband is an assistant coach in a 6 man school! :) We're in the playoffs!
  • Outside of Lubbock - you're near El Paso, right? That's not WEST TEXAS - that's bordertown Texas! ha haha My brother, mdrush2, is on here, too & he lives and works in Las Cruces.
  • I live 20 minutes from civilization (and it's only 8,000 at that) - can't I just talk to you?
  • NOT ring dings - MOON PIES! Hey y'all! I'm from the sticks in West Texas.
  • Bumping for a friend...
  • Everyone up north likes to give us Texans a hard time when we say winter and cold. Yes, people, we know it's colder where you are and many more unbearable conditions - that's why we live DOWN SOUTH. It's cold to us when it hits freezing and we celebrate the sight of snow in February because we probably just had GUSTY wind…
  • I think both - some days you feel like getting out there and setting a new personal record, some days you just want to run a slow, steady race. In my opinion, I would want to set a pace now, that I could run for the entire 5K and do that for a couple of weeks. To me, it was my first goal to run the whole thing, no matter…
  • SOOOO - can I be your friend? I like to delete people, too! Especially the nasty, mean ones that like to attack people in the discussion boards... ha ha haha! I LOVE YOU, PARVATI - you are rocking it and deserve support from people who are willing to rock it and sacrifice, too!
  • I do love me some Starbucks - it's the major thing I've cut way back in since getting serious about my weight. I'm very interested to see all the 'healthier' choices!
