According to a friend who does this all the time, just put the water, salt, and oats in the slow cooker the night before you want it for breakfast and plug the thing in. I would think you might want to add a TBSP or 2 of extra water but she says she uses the directions on the package. I have thought of trying it 'causee DH loves Irish oatmeal . That stuff takes 35-40 minutes to cook! I grew up with Quaker, 5 minutes and you're done. If you try this I would love to know if it works well.0

Put 1 cup steel cut oats and 4 cups water in microwaveable glass bowl. Put inside crockpot. Fill crockpot with water until about an inch from top of bowl. Put on lid. Cook on low overnight. Oatmeal will be done when you wake up. I typically wait to turn on until around 10pm. Enjoy. Make all the time. Very easy as you can see.0

I didn't know there was more than one slow cooker oatmeal recipe. Unless adding different fruit counts....0

Search through the community posts. I found one for the steel cut/Irish oats - you use dried fruit in it and cinnamon. I got it off this website. The steel oats take longer to cook so they are a good option for crock pot recipes. I do recommend a liner because it can get a little 'sticky'.0
