Spirutein Unsweetened Vanilla protein powder, hands down. No crap in it whatsoever.

My skinny sister gained some needed weight by drinking 2 cans of "Boost plus" per day.

I'll tell you what works for me. If I cut calories I *have* to do it this way because I feel zoned out and sick otherwise. For breakfast, I eat some kind of protein (a boiled egg, tuna, chicken, or whatever's left over in the fridge) along with some green veg. or salad. NO starches or sugars allowed-- because if I eat them…

I've never been clinically overweight but I gain weight easily if I don't pay attention to it. (This can happen during holidays and times of stress and/or crazy work overload.) My "stop" point is when all my pants are tight to the point I have nothing comfortable to wear. I won't allow myself to buy new ones so I have to…

I feel the same way. I think "Good for them!"

Yes of course it will help-- and you may feel better and have more energy because of the exercise. Plus you save gas money and wear and tear on your car.

That^ I absolutely cannot restrict calories *unless* I restrict carbs as well. I get too hungry otherwise. (But I am not doing super low-carb (ketosis-inducing) like you may be.)
-
It helps me to have something to drink at hand. Usually that's iced tea (unsweetened) or some kind of herbal tea.

Yeah it's probably the sodium. We had Chinese food Sunday night and even though I didn't overeat, I gained 2 lbs overnight. But it was gone the next day.

I think we have cultural vocabulary confusion here. In the US, the main dish is called the entree, and the starter dish before it is the "appetizer". ( I don't know why, since obviously "entree" means "Entrance" in French. Us silly Americans. :) )

I usually eat the leftovers. Even if it's not a "full portion", you can eat it as a snack, or combine several "partial portions" and eat them at the same meal. My breakfasts are often leftovers from the night before. Or, as others have said, sometimes they can go as an ingredient in another dish.

I ate like a horse and lost weight regardless.

I tried the shakes. Too many carbs for me. I get hungry again fast if I have too many carbs. Plus, it contains sucralose, which I do not like (taste-wise and health-wise). Spiru-tein powder (unsweetened) blended with almond milk (unsweetened) does a much better job for me for fewer calories.

Sadly, it's just not the same with diet coke, and ends up being a waste of good liquor (IMO). :/
-
I like my wine, too. I also love a scotch and Coke, which is even worse. Times past when I've been restricting calories I've added the wine calories in, without going over my calorie budget. But I don't need it, and I could cut my calorie budget a little more without it. So I've decided to cut it out entirely until I get…

For the OP: I like plain water, water with a little lemon juice, or unsweetened iced tea with lemon. I make up big pitchers of iced tea so I have it on hand.

People, there was study published in the last year or so about how artificial sweeteners affect gut bacteria. Long story short, use of artificial sweeteners leads to glucose intolerance, which can lead to weight gain. The initial study was done on mice, but the effect was found in humans, too, even with just a couple cans…

I hear you. I started blowing up about 30 and it's been a struggle ever since.

I'm 5'2". When I was in my 20's my weight was usually between 98 and 103. I lifted weights and I looked awesome IMO. My body fat percentage was 18 to 19%. That was my optimum. It's helluva lot easier to keep in shape when you're young, your metabolism is high, and you don't have a family that needs your time. I've gone up…

Glucomannan.

Good for you! Stupid menopause really messed me up too and it's taken me some trial and error to figure out how not to gain weight. Never had much trouble before.
-
Is it actually more important to you to be lighter than to have a lower body fat percentage? Because it's possible to be skinny and still have a lot of body fat, if you have very little muscle. If you want to look good and be healthy, don't worry about gaining pounds. Worry instead about your fat/muscle ratio.

Weightlifting raises your basal metabolism. Muscles need calories just to exist, so if you build up your muscles you'll burn more calories even when idle.
