I've been struggling with my weight for the last 12 years. I think I've finally got a handle on it now. Switching to a different antidepressant medication was the #1 key. But the weight loss stalled out a couple months ago so I stopped drinking alcohol about 3 weeks ago and began losing again. It's slow: 18 pounds in 16…

If it's not dairy, another thing could be if you're generally eating cleaner and drinking more water-- sometimes there can be a "detox" which can involve purging through your skin--- that would be temporary. Another thing that comes to mind is if you're exercising more (and sweating more) you need to wash your face after…

Dairy products make many people break out. Any increase in consumption of yogurt, cheese, milk, etcc?

Definitely people should check with their doctor first. However if your doctor (like mine did) insists that SSRI's will not affect your weight, try to get him to let you change anyway if you're having a problem. My doc expressed surprise at my experience, but he agrees it must be "real". As I said, everyone is different.

As has been said, BMI is a huge range and for 5'2" it's 101 to 136 lbs. I've never been outside the high end of the range (lifetime max =135) but in my 20's when I was a serious gym rat I often dipped into the high 90's. I just know I feel bulky and awkward over ca. 115 lbs. I lose agility, flexibility, and energy when I…

Exercise is great-- and probably the first thing to try-- but sometimes it's not enough by itself.

Yes, low progesterone can absolutely cause spotting. At what time of day did you take the progesterone? I take mine right before bed, which is what my gyno instructed and it helps me sleep and does not make me tired during the day. It is not good to have estrogen unopposed (or under-opposed) by progesterone; in fact that…

Hi Spradlz-- It's been 6 weeks since you posted that and I'm wondering whether you're still losing weight while off the Zoloft?
-
If you're still reading this thread, I've always read that Zoloft and Paxil are the worst of the SSRI's for weight gain, with Prozac and Lexapro being the least likely to affect weight. Having said that, I am not sure about Lexapro. I've been on Lexapro for 11 years and I'm now working on getting off it because I'm pretty…

I'm 57 and got subcutaneous bioidentical estrogen and testosterone pellet implants 4 months ago. (in addition to oral progesterone) Although I am not technically overweight, I weigh around 20 lbs more than I did in my 20's and 30's. And I do not like it. Keeping the weight off has been a struggle for the last decade or so.…

Well, I do like my wine, but even consuming the same number of calories per day I lose weight faster without it. I wonder if it inhibits fat metabolism. Anyhow that is my experience.

Yeah, that's what I've got-- a small overhang. No stretch marks, and the scars have gone. But-- that overhang... It's not a huge big deal but I'd get it fixed if I could afford it. Patty- gettng a tattoo was a good idea. I wonder if a tattoo could be designed to camouflage the little "shelf"? hmmm I have no tattoos but…

That did not work for me, unfortunately. at one point i was down to 17% bf -- it was smaller but still there. I worked out like a maniac (weights and cardio) but it persisted and I could not get bf lower.

You may have some separation of the abdominal muscles -- evidently it can cause this and can only be repaired with surgery. As for that pouch-- I've still got one after 14 years. At one point afterward I got down to around 17% body fat and it was still there .. I was slim when I got pregnant so it wasn't that. But my baby…

Cold. When it's hot all I want to do is stay inside with the A/C. I can't even stand to work out in a gym if it's above 75 deg. F.

I tend to have that problem, too. What helps is to brew a big pot of herbal or decaf tea, maybe with a *little* honey in it, and sip that all evening. Gives me something to put in my mouth. Also I go upstairs away from the kitchen.

Dairy gives me acne. Drink milk, eat cheese = zits. Avoid dairy= no zits. I was plagued with acne until i figured this out at age 22. I still break out mildly even now if I have a lot of dairy-- 30+ years later. My son is the same way, unfortunately for him. Obviously this is not the case for most people, but I do think if…

Yes, I weigh (on a digital scale) and/or measure what I eat.

Yeah I get it-- the low maintenance number is really hard to maintain. I'm 5'2" and 56. Currently 130 lbs and I need to get down to 110 or 115. Even with exercising I tend to bloat up if I go over maybe 1500 calories per day. (and 110 lbs is not unrealistic because I spent most of my 20's and 30's around 100 to 105 lbs and…

I will check it out. Tks

Well, maybe I will try the exercise ball to see if it gives me a little edge. I never had this much trouble with my weight before, and it did start around menopause time. I used to only gain weight if I took a "vacation" from the gym, but now the gym doesn't stop it. (I've done weight training and cardio since I was 25.) I…

I don't have any back or posture problems so I don't need that benefit.

Roast chicken is better than boiled and they may have whole roast chickens at your grocery store deli. And there are other kinds of fish you can eat besides tuna and salmon. And there's nothing wrong with having lean beef or pork now and then.

I had my baby at 41 -- got him on the first try. His best friend is an "oops" baby born to his 46 year old mom. So I agree that the risk of waiting is exaggerated. But all said, it's probably better to try a little earlier if circumstances permit, just to be on the safe side. For all those trying to conceive, let me…

Three weeks is not very long. When I first began weight training, I gained weight over the first six weeks and then suddenly I began losing. This was all without changing my diet. Keep at it-- regardless of your weight, you will never regret having built up a good base of muscle. I built up my muscles more than 30 years…

Huh. Your loss.

Worst: Selling Orbit Burgers and Space Dogs at Disney's Tomorrowland Terrace. We had to wear orange and purple polyester pantsuits. Their idea of " future fashion". Gag

My kid is 14 now, but I had him when I was 41. This kid never slept and was never happy unless he was being held or moving. Carrying a kid= good upper body workout. Pushing a stroller all over town for a couple hours a day = good aerobic workout. Sadly some of the benefits were cancelled by my newfound need for…
