  • Only you have the power to stop yourself from binging. Try to log all foods BEFORE you eat them, so you can see what kind of caloric damage you are doing before you eat a load of junk food. When I was losing weight I always pre-logged and it helped me make better choices or back away from some things (or volumes of things)…
  • I use a julienne vegetable peeler like the one I linked to below. No need to buy a gadget that only does one thing and takes up room in my small kitchen. http://www.amazon.com/Zyliss-30700-Julienne-Peeler/dp/B0018ICHH2
  • Cutting out dairy also helped my skin. I was doing an elimination diet for food allergies and discovered when I don't eat dairy, my skin doesn't break out. Too bad it took me 20 years to figure that out! Google "dairy acne" and you will see many people have the same problem with dairy.
  • I am guessing that MFP wouldn't want to get into the liability of restricting the calories of pregnant women. Not to mention, you can easily rig the MFP settings to land at whatever calorie setting you choose, so I don't see what the big deal is.
  • I agree. Without a public diary, I am only speculating...however, I am pretty sure I would starve to death if I only ate what you posted. How many calories a day are you eating? What are your stats (height, weight, amount to lose)?
  • Ditto. there is zero scientific evidence that GC does anything other than lighten your wallet.
  • I believe there is a whole separate group dedicated to PCOS. Under "Community" in your top tabs, go to "Groups" and search for PCOS.
  • Had success how? If you think they will make you lose weight, there is no scientific evidence to back up Dr. Oz's claims. Same goes for raspberry ketones. there is no magic pill, I am sorry to report.
  • I hear you. I find searching for recipes on my phone a giant PITA. that is definitely an area where MFP needs to improve!
  • Why don't you just use that feature of MFP and ignore the diary/logging part? You don't have to use every feature of the MFP app.
  • Does it happen with all dairy products or just yogurt? It could be an allergy to milk protein (casein) or if not an allergy, a sensitivity or intolerance. The key would be if it happens with other dairy products or just yogurt. If it is just yogurt, then what other ingredients are in it that could potentially cause a…
  • There was no way I could lose 1 lb/week once I had about 15 pounds to go. You aren't going to lose fast at your weight, so you need to be patient. The more you have to lose/heavier you are, the easier it is to drop the weight. What worked for me was setting MFP for a 0.5 lb/week loss and most importantly, PATIENCE!
  • THIS. I remember traveling for work and ending up at a Chilis. I researched ahead of time and several salads were clocking in around 1,000 calories. Luckily most places have some sort of protein/veg combo (grilled chicken or salmon and veg) that won't break the calorie bank. Although even Carrabba's small grilled salmon…
  • Not really a recipe per se, but I love it in oatmeal. I cook plain oatmeal (rolled oats) then add in a giant dollop of canned pumpkin, some spices (cinnamon or the blend called Pumpkin Pie Spice) and also a handful of slivered almonds for crunch.
  • It is possible. I gain (and therefore lose) mostly in my hips, butt and stomach, so it is pretty noticeable. My mother in law tends to gain and lose very evenly all over, from her wrists to her stomach to her ankles...she can much more easily hide weight gain/loss than I can due to it being spread so evenly and not…
  • Ditto this. I love good food and Lean Cuisine and the like do not taste good to me at all.
  • Your diary isn't public so I am just speculating as I don't really know what you are eating or how much. First, well done on the weight loss so far! You say you are always hungry and eating BELOW your calorie goal. You want to try to aim to eat AT your daily goal, not below. Again, not seeing your diary I don't know if you…
  • If you are talking about the calorie count on treadmills and the like then no, I don't find them very accurate. Something like a Fitbit or equivalent would be much more accurate. As for eating exercise calories, start with this thread. It is stickied at the top of the forum and has many answers to the usual questions we…
  • Your diary is not open to the public so I can't comment specifically on your diet. However, I find it ridiculously easy to get to 1200 calories. just eat healthy calorie dense foods. Put avocado on your sandwich or salad. Eat a handful of nuts. Eat natural peanut butter (or any nut butter) on toast, on a banana or apple,…
  • I just made this GF/DF cake last weekend. The recipe is from Nigella Lawson and it is AWESOME! http://www.health.com/health/recipe/0,,50400000128418,00.html
  • Well now you are just putting words in my mouth as I certainly didn't call anyone lazy or non-committed and would never intentionally be rude to someone. That's cool that we see it differently: we are both coming from two different places that have made us form different opinions, and I am OK with that. That's why I come…
  • Load it up with sugar if that's your preference. I mostly have seen added veg when sweetness is needed in tomato sauce in Italy (grated carrot, browned onion, that sort of thing). However, I don't need the Del Monte company determining for me that diced tomatoes need corn syrup added to it to sweeten it up. THAT is my…
  • Yes, we as humans have evolved to love sweet. However, I didn't grow up in an American family. Trust me, Americans are WAY more into sugared food (I don't mean desserts/sweets), particularly stuff that comes in a package, than many other countries. That's what I meant by that comment. When you can see it from the outside…
  • HA, it depends where you are from. In the UK and some other countries, tomato sauce is what American's call "ketchup" which always contains sugar. In the US, tomato sauce is pureed tomato you may put on pasta or use in lasagna. Language barriers
  • Again, just my opinion but I don't think drinking diet soda is any better than drinking regular soda. Sure, less calories but it is still garbage. Americans are well trained by food companies to love everything sweet. Most packaged foods that should have no business containing added sugars are ridiculously sweet, such as…
  • I like it spread on toast with a drizzle of good olive oil and fresh cracked black pepper. YUM!
  • Yuck, not my bread. Barring medical issues, my opinion is if you eat SO MUCH sweetened stuff where you need a zero calorie sweetener to help you meet your calorie goal, then the problem isn't the sweetener. The problem is your eating too much crap with boatloads of sugar. Of course, most people don't want to hear that and…
  • Calorie free? That's not food, that's a lab experiment. Yuck.
  • I wasn't saying you may need a therapist to be mean...I was saying it because you posted some very unhealthy statements about your body such as: If being 5'9" and 90 pounds wasn't too thin in your mind....then yeah. You may have some body image issues to work out.
  • No one can answer this for you since we are all built so differently. However, from your post it sounds like you either had in the past or still currently have some serious unhealthy issues with body image. Maybe your first stop should be a therapist. It is difficult to make your body healthy when your head isn't healthy.
