Anybody got a number for the calorific burn when you make your food clean ? I have a sponge and a bucket if that helps

Sounds like the sort of plonker who stops people wanting to go the gym, and if they get there in the first place... makes them feel weird. So , make sure you go back, make sure you let the gym management know. It could be he is suffering from roid rage or is just an idiot Don't let him stop you

Firstly , any calculation that comes up with a calorific burn of 700 an hour needs questioning. Secondly as the others have said, an insufficient intake will not help bulking, and lots of cardio will make this harder (unless you have no trouble getting 3k + calories a day in )

Most of the stuff I have read ( lyle macdonald and the leangains website ) seem to say that fasted cardio can be beneficial for helping with stubborn body fat, BUT , only when you are very lean to begin with. I typically get a good walk in before breakfast. It has helped me as I can stretch out the time from last food in…

I use a web based ( mapmywalk ) to map out where and how far / fast etc but as others have said, good job and keep it going

It's a normal reaction for many people. Once you try and move yourself out of your comfort zone , you ( like me ) will be the better for it. It can seem daunting , but only lasts a day or 2. There are idiots at the gym , much the same as there are idiots at the supermarket or walking along the street. It wouldn't stop you…

It shouldn't be a question of one or the other. Try doing both as they both have benefits. Strength training won't make you butch or bulky etc and cardio isn't just for people who are scared of lifting.

FWIW Loads of us have similar issues. Many of us get fat , without truly noticing until it smacks us in the face or we get told. In the same way , many of us can only notice the changes , what we lose , when we look back at how heavy we were. It's good to document with photos so you can see how far you have come. I use my…

Lifting isn't going to make you bulky ... just in case it's what is causing you concern :)

Cafe Nero caramel latte , special with cream ... so what if it's 485 cal ( according to their website ) life's too short for me to go without the odd pleasure. I was shocked when I saw it was 485.. and a little dissapointed... but they are yum yum edit for spolling :open_mouth:

one day you'll look back and be happy about all this. Losing the weight , and the dead weight too !! you'll be fine , keep with the program you're on ..exercise when stressed ( worked wonders for me when my rs ended )

I wouldn't be using a HRM to track accurate burns for lifting. They are best for steady state cardio and even then they are guestimating
-
If you have only recently started ( and haven't already ) .. take plenty of measurements and photos so you can track progress. The scale doesn't always tell the whole truth

If I go by just the maths , a 500 calorie deficit per day for a week would be a 1lb and for a month 4lb. You have lost 2.5lb so my guess is that you aren't burning as many as you think or are eating slightly more. as the above poster says... 2.5lb per month sounds good for a start. Either up the exercise, eat less or both…

people who think they have a chance of getting bulky by lifting heavy... seriously... just try is all I ask.... /endrant
