  • Good work on the 5k! :) I run a fair bit, and I find that using a mix of treadmill and outdoor work, helps with speed and endurance. I use treadmill work mainly for interval/speed training, 30 mins at a time, and then do outdoor work for endurance work, again 30-40mins. Ideally you want to try to set yourself a goal of 3…
  • One train of thought says it is very good to weight train in the morning, especially for men, as your testosterone levels are at their highest (Hence the typical Male's "Morning Glory", if you catch my drift). M advice would be to have a Black Coffee, and maybe a Banana, then go training and have b/fast when you get back,…

  • HI there, I'm James. I guess I'm fairly nerdy. I am a big WoW player (well, not so big anymore, as i'm now 4 stone lighter:P), but I love WoW, been playing for 7 years almost. Big fan of sci-fi mainly Star Wars and Fantasy/Superhero stuff. I was a Soldier for 25 years (British Army) before I retired 4 years ago. Now self…

  • First off, /ignore the trolls. Second, I know where your coming from. At times, I have found it hard to reach a calorie goal for a specific day, but the real trick, as has been mentioned, is Calorie dense foods. But, calorie dense doesn't mean crap food, like Chocolate or sugar infused spreads etc. The simplest way to…
  • Thankyou for the reply and advice :)
  • Hi there, just been reading through your amazing journey. Congratulations, I would love to acheive this one day. Currently I am trying to go through the same thing, Lift for Mass/Shape AND lose body Fat at the same time, something I know is very difficult. My lifting is getting better and I train 4-5 times a week, mixing…
  • Many thanks for all your replies, both positive and negative. I'd like to add that the reason for me posting was due to the fact that she was quite upset this morning and I had ran out of answers for her, without sounding like a broken record. I was and am still looking for some more advice. Regarding the calorie intake,…
  • Hi, I'm fairly new. Anyone in the UK, feel free to add me. :)
  • Don't listen to this...its Rubbish... Walking is the BEST way to lose weight, especially in the beginning. WEight/Strength Training is only effective if you are doing ALOT of Compund Super-sets, and do them for an hour with very little resting.
  • Yes! You should have something to eat before you go. DOn't listen to people who say do it fasted, or, it does'nt matter! You need fuel before exercise. It doesnt have to be a huge amount, but you will need something. Generally, I will eat a Banana, or maybe have a Fruit Yoghurt, and a Glass of Water before I go to the Gym,…
  • Ok, the BEST thing you can do, to start with, is Walk. Walk, Walk, Walk. Walking is the most effective way to lose begin a Fitness regime, when you are trying to lose weight. For now, forget about Gym work, Fitness Videos, Running etc....Just walk! Take 1 hour out of your day, put on some comfortable footwear, and Walk.…
  • I too suffer from the "remaining" skin. Its not massive, but it is still there. Aside from surgery, there isnt too much you can do to remove it, however, as you are still quite young, you shouldnt suffer from it too much. My 2 tips tho, to help, are to use Bio-Oil daily, rubbed into your tummy, and get a bit of a tan! I've…
  • Dont think of them as "Cheat" days, but more as "Treat" days. Tell yourself - "I've done really well this week, so i'm gonna treat myself to an ice-cream!" Nothing wrong with it at all, it'll keep your sanity intact! :)
  • Also, as an addition, try rotating your protein plans with a reduced calorie plan from week to week. This can help reduce the "protein-boredom" that your experiencing atm.
  • I've used High Protein, Low Carb plans plenty of times, and yes they are good, and can reduce your weight alot. They can also be manageble as well, and you can continue forever using Hi-Prot plans. The only thing I would say though, is that the closer you get to you ideal weight/build, the more you have to tune-down the…
  • Just dont worry about it. Youve got this far, taught yourself how to lose weight and eat properly, just go on Holiday, forget about MFP, enjoy yourself and when you come back, get back into your routine. I do this every year. Worrying about my weight, and excercise whislt on Holiday, can ruin things for you. Go enjoy…
  • To be honest with you, it just sounds like your body has balanced itself out with your daily routine, and whats its getting in Fuel. The basic answer is to change your routine somehow. 1. Increase your daily/weekly exercise 2. Change the type of exercise your doing e.g. from walking to cycling, or from jogging to swimming…
  • I wouldnt get too hung up on the amount of calories you do or dont eat if your taking exercise. The only thing to keep in mind, is to make sure your weekly output (calories burned by exercise) reduces your average input (Calories eaten). Some say that by making your output (calories burned) greater than your input…
