My understanding is that, for women at least, our bodies -need- a minimum of 1200 calories a day to function properly. I have been practicing yoga off and on for nearly 15 years. I love the inner peace I find during and after a routine. It's great for toning muscles and easing stress/anxiety. So glad there are so many other practitioners out here!
