I'm doing EOD, love it, will do some form of it for the rest of my (hopefully extended) life. I alternate between TDEE*25% days and TDEE*125% days. This creates a 25% deficit overall. I used to log every day but recently I've stopped logging on the 125% days. I've lost 24.5lbs in 18 weeks. Exercise is incidental but I walk…

Get your doc to check for gallbladder issues and diverticulitis.

We have "EST" in Australia too, genius. I know working out that all countries have an "east" must be really hard (for you).
-
Must be EST in the USA. No other nationality would be so arrogant as to just assume everyone would know it's USA.

Assuming these are digital scales... Weigh on a hard surface, never on carpet. Even floorboards which have a little bounce are not great. I'm sure the batteries are fine as they're brand new scales. Always put your feel dead centre. Mark an outline with a pair of flip flops if you like, to make sure your feet are in the…

@WalkingAlong I feel quite humbled to have had something to do with your progress! I always look to your posts as a very measured dose of good research and lived experience. I'm keen to see how you rate your fasting break when you resume or revise in the new year. @flinx1241 Well done on your weight loss! Almost 100lbs is…

Well done Zenner22! I've been on ADF for 114 days, but yesterday I had my first fast day with not a single hunger pang. Not one. It is so weird, I never would have though that fasting is the sort of thing you get better at.

How do you go with lower body weight bearing? Lifting with the feet could work your lower body and core, and this can be done sitting or lying down. The quads, glutes and core are the biggest muscle groups in the body so any work done on these is super valuable. You don't have to "lift" to lift!

Thanks @haybales!

I've been using a Google Sheet to work out my daily calories for ADF and finally have it all working off a single formula which calculates my TDEE (based on age, weight, height, and activity factor) *125% or *25% depending on whether it's a feast or fast day. Spending time refining the formula has been a most unexpected…

That's a work of art!

Not anything specific, I have a nice spreadsheet going. Just wondered if anyone has anything they've made and found useful that they'd like to share.

So what you're saying is that you're happy to weigh in on a subject about which you admit you know little and have no practical experience with. This must be an IF thread.

So what you're asking for is tips for coming to terms with loose skin? But also that surgery and scars don't both (sic) you? A psychologist will help you work out why you have a physical revulsion for loose skin, and perhaps try exposure therapy amongst other techniques to help you to stop feeling queasy when you see…

I agree that this is something to look out for. There's no point in cramming all your calories (and this is assuming you're not eating in excess of your TDEE) into a 2 hour window if it doesn't help you to maintain a program in some way. If the day of fasting was good for you in some way (made it easier to keep to your…

Yes! I'm beyond caring whether people think it's a fad or I'd be better off sticking to 1600 calories a day, every day. It's healthy (for me, whatever you think about you is just super great), I like doing it, I can do it, I can keep doing it. I've lost a decent amount of weight while doing my physical job. Sorry bout it.

I've heard Control My Weight by Calorie King is pretty good.

I used Pacer for a while, before I got a Withings O2 Pulse. It was okay, pretty accurate. When I used them both my daily steps were usually within 5% of each other when comparing the two devices.

It's achievable.

I have a piccolo latte because a regular size latte with full-fat milk is like 110 calories. Rather than add three separate items (1 shot espresso, 22ml milk, 1/4 tsp sugar) every time I drink coffee I saved it as a recipe.

If that's you, see a doctor.

Yep. Fixed the spacing for you too.

In all seriousness though, after 3 months of doing this I don't get cranky. That stopped with the headaches after a week or so. I used to try to spead my calories over lunch and dinner but I'd be too wired to sleep at night without a "proper" dinner in my belly. I learned to eat my calories at night because that works for…

I'm sure he would enjoy that explanation.

My partner and I have a friendly competition with the cryptic crossword every night. I win regularly, but on my fasting days I always win.

I find it simpler to say * fast days = TDEE*25% * non-fast days = TDEE*125% As I'm doing EOD this gives me a 25% deficit. For 5:2, I'd try * fast days TDEE*25% * non-fast days are TDEE*100% = 21% deficit.

I mean, of course we have burger orgies. That's the best part of dieting the IF way!
-
^This. I've never quite understood why people think IF makes for poor maintenance practice, or for that matter, why people think non-fasting days are bacchanalian burger orgies.

You're around the same goal? Do you mean the same weight?
