DID IT. Your post inspired me to buy a tracker. I've been hemming and hawing and thinking I might wait for the Apple Watch... but today I said screw that and got a Withings O2 Pulse.

Pregnancy is not a likely cause. Sudden weight gain is not fat gain, therefore not "real" weight gain, as you call it. You would have had to have eaten tens of thousands of calories over your TDEE to gain 5 "real" lbs overnight. This is plain old fluid retention. When your period arrives it'll sort itself out.

I guess I'm happy to throw a fast day in whenever I'm tipping the scales a few lbs over goal. Maybe you ought to ask your very smart nephew about it and quit shouting at strangers about stuff you don't seem to understand.

Till I started logging I never quite realised how many calories there are in a slice of market sourdough. No wonder it's verboten!

CUTE SUPER CUTE OMG YES

These are a really hard look to pull off because the waist is so high, and if you get a size up the arms are too long!

I had dark red/purple stretch marks as a teenager on my hips and breasts when I suddenly grew curves and DD breasts virtually overnight. Now in my mid-40s they're barely visible and only slightly paler than the rest of my skin. I didn't do anything special to treat them, they just get less angry with time.

Please take the following with a hefty groan and an eye-roll if you must. Have your doctors suggested taking dantrolene as a calcium release inhibitor? I'm a complete armchair scientist working with google rather than any actual education in the field here but it would seem that if you can control the calcium release for…

I don't have a disability but I applaud your efforts to take control of your health and the bravery to take on exercise. Being overweight is a self-imposed disability which most people can control, given the right tools and support. What sort of exercise do you plan to do?

I started at 209.9lbs and I'm at 198.4lbs now. Translating from metric

Melbournite here too :) 35kgs or thereabouts to lose... slowly but surely.

Great answer, thank you. 1.3kg seems like a huge swing to have in a week, let along in one day. Being able to swing 1.3kg one way then back 1.4kg the next can't be due to fat loss/gain so water, glycogen and food in digestion are the more likely variables.

You do know what science is, don't you?

There's a lot of failure in that people regain weight they've worked hard to lose. I'm interested in why that happens and anyone who does 10 years of actual scientific research rather than bogus sensationalism and quick fix solutions has my attention. So don't call me a fool - I am supporting research and expanding my…

What's your strategy for keeping the weight off? Or for dealing with low days where you just feel sad and crappy and angry? Those days happen to everyone and you can't eat your way out of them - that just generates more low days. If your strategy for keeping the weight off is just to do more of the same as what allowed you…

I think that makes perfect sense and I think that trying new things is a great strategy for alleviating monotony as well as just being able to sample different things as experiments. There's no "fail" when it's all about "try it and see what happens". Not to mention avoiding the dreaded plateau from sticking doggedly with…

I've been logging everything because I've only been on the diet for 4 weeks, but more out of interest in seeing how my macros break down than for any fear of going overboard. I average 2000 on my feast days. Have you lost the whole 41kg on EOD? such an amazing outcome!
-
To be blunt, duh. No one is going to eat 10,000 calories on a feast day, or expect to lose weight if they do. This has been the one tired argument constantly made by people NOT on the diet who have no idea how feast day eating is limited by common sense, a shrunken stomach AND the diet guidelines... IN THE BOOK!

Drinking half your bodyweight IN OUNCES of water. Sheesh.

You're not giving away much information there so it's hard to know if you're doing something wrong... but here's a stab based on some guesses. I'm assuming you've just started dieting, looking at your recent MFP join date. Your body will adapt to fewer calories within a couple of weeks and your hunger and headaches will go…

Truth telling: 1. flat stomachs are not fictional 2. some people work hard to achieve a flat stomach 3. not everyone will achieve a flat stomach, even if they try hard 4. anyone will find butthurt if they look hard enough for it

HOW... Because we're wired to eat when there's food around. 100,000 years ago do you think humans wandered into a fertile valley with plenty of food and didn't eat? They ate. It's survival. My advice, for what it's worth, is to think of dieting like you do interval training. Short extreme bursts followed by periods of…

Yeah the surgery isn't to be sneezed at - aside from the expense it's going to be a very uncomfortable post-op period with drainage tubes and compression bandages. Not very glamorous! Best avoided if possible.

Sounds like you're doing all the sensible recommended things. Congratulations on starting your weight loss! I'm contemplating body contouring surgery but not till (minimum) 3 years after I hit goal. You want to make absolutely sure you're finished changing shape before getting skin removed, and that you're going to…

That's brilliant weight loss, sheilaq14! You must be so proud of yourself! Thanks for the tip about lowcarbfriends - I'll seek it out.

I'm on EOD and loving it. I've lost about 5lbs since starting about 12 days ago. I've struggled with the idea of prohibiting myself forever from the things I like to eat, and the sense of failure that a "bad day" can bring if I weakened in my resolve to abstain for even a moment. The idea that "I can eat that tomorrow" is…
