  • Like others have said, it's basically about your food choices. It didn't take me long to realize that "spaghetti night" was a thing of the past, once I decided to lose weight. I know the IIFYM crowd will say "eat everything in moderation," but I don't feel like being "moderately" hungry after eating that half Pop-Tart or…
  • I call troll, but I can afford to waste a few mins on one response (even for a troll). If you're not a troll, why would you ask for opinions on a low calorie diet (the results of which can have long-term health implications)? Should you trust the answers received from those who 1) have no verifiable credentials, and 2) are…
  • I see this often on this site, where someone's "success" is based on their weight loss results (but never losing it more quickly however!). So is someone that loses 200 pounds more successful than someone who "only" loses 100 (when both are at goal)? What about the people that never get that overweight in the first place?…
  • The "loose skin" issue has nothing to do with making your body look older. No matter how old one gets, you won't get anything like the loose skin I've seen pics of (well, unless you lost a large amount of weight also).
  • Yeah, there's always tomorrow. Reminds me of an old rundown bar in my hometown, that had painted on the outside "Free Beer Tomorrow."
  • I definitely count the decimal amount. I'm actually a bit irritated that MFP rounds the input values up to the nearest tenth ("I put in x.25, not x.3!"). Yes, I know this level of precision in meaningless, but I still like to keep track of it. I weigh daily, also, but only concern myself with the larger trends, not…
  • You're losing a pound a week eating 2300 calories a day? You must exercise like a beast!
  • I don't normally get the fascination with topical gifs, but this thread is the PERFECT place for them (I am providing none, however).
  • So is the implication that one can't do all the fantastic feats you do and have visible abs? BTW you rock!
  • It probably tastes great, but looks like larvae on a bun (and a soggy bun at that).
  • Well, you can still give your input. We'll filter the data later.
  • Well, what exists "in my own head" is certainly important to me (obviously, but it seems things like that have to be explained here). And, not for nothing, my definition of "fit" isn't all that uncommon. Plus, I originally asked if you could get "ripped" eating whatever you wanted; I didn't mention "fit" at that time. I…
  • We all have our own definition of what "fit" means to us, I am sure.
  • Thank you for explaining how someone who is obviously fit works these types of foods into their diet. I also appreciate the fact that you described some of the decision-making process, with regards to what your goals are at the moment (i.e. working towards a "heavier" cut). This moderate view on how IIFYM is actually…
  • Well, I'm sure the "ripped" ones are hiding, and waiting for me to fulfill the burden of proof, but I certainly know where to find the "unripped" ones.
  • Well, I guess I haven't read these forums enough then. The "loudest voices," if you will, in the Pop-Tart brigade aren't showing their abs (to my limited knowledge). I hope that the "Look at me, I'm fit and eat a lot of junk" (as you put it) is just overstatement, in order to help make their larger point, although it tends…
  • Well, I didn't read through the whole thread (all the gifs hurt my eyes), but... Obviously the OP has a dedicated weight regimen. It's not hard for me to believe he eschews Pop-Tarts, ice cream, and the like (since I've done it myself in the past, and many don't worship those types of foods to the extent that some seem to…
  • You need to address why you feel the desire to take a "break," since those elements will probably factor into whether or not you will be able to sustain your weight loss. Do you desire to eat more food in general, or do you miss specific types, etc.?
  • Let me get this straight... You know you're eating 1200 cals/day (although I'm not certain how, since you're not logging your intake consistently). Despite the fact that you have no idea how many calories you're consuming, you're certain that the fact you're not losing weight is due to some strange phenomenon (outside the…
  • I'm confused. You're telling her that she's "probably eating way more than 1200 calories," since she's not logging, and has no idea what her intake is. You then go on to say she should eat more, and this recommendation is based on...? I'm glad I didn't have to rely on this site in order to achieve weight loss.
  • Many on here will tell you "You can do it!" but, in the end, you're the only one who will make this work. If you haven't already done so, you need to consider what caused you to regain the weight before. Were the eating habits you adopted too difficult to maintain? Did you discontinue an exercise program? Perhaps the…
  • Just as there is a stigma associated with being overweight, there is inherent pride in losing said weight, and achieving a "normal" size (just look at how many display their tickers here). Although most don't want to admit it, many (outside of MFP, at least) view those who lose weight more quickly as more successful (the…
  • It appears that you want someone to agree that you need to eat more, in order to lose weight. Short answer is: you don't.
  • I've always been a fairly casual drinker of soda (e.g. usually when I go out to eat, but never at home), and, in the past, I've always opted for the sugary versions. Within the last few weeks, I've tried a few sugar-free varieties that I happen to think are ok (e.g. Coke Zero, Diet Mountain Dew, Diet A&W root beer). I can…
  • The caloric deficit doesn't need to be maintained on a daily basis. Of course, "cheat" days/meals will slow your progress, but that's an acceptable trade-off for many.
  • In the past six weeks or so, I've had a cheat meal each weekend. It's typically a buffet (and with a couple bowls of ice cream), so it probably actually becomes a cheat day. Even with the "cheats," I've lost weight consistently, although once I started getting nearer to my GW, I noticed a bit of a slowdown.
  • Well, as long as the "check-in" topic is being addressed... Why is there only one decimal of precision for my weight? If I'm trying to lose weight, don't round up my ".25s" to ".3s!" 1/4 is a fairly basic unit of measurement. Maybe the app should support it? (Yeah, I know the extra precision doesn't refer to any amount…
  • The way MFP is setup, adding more cardio won't be beneficial to your weightloss. Actually, since you'll be eating back your exercise calories, it could actually be detrimental if you happen to overestimate your calories burned. Personally, cardio (along with dietary changes) worked for me, but I didn't eat back my calories…
  • Going to eat it all (albeit over a few weeks). Favorite is Kit-Kat, although don't have any here yet. Oh, and they should be served frozen, also, for maximum enjoyment.
  • A whole half-serving of ice cream? You're a wild man!
