The way I look at it is this, if you decided the PB&J wrap was a valid food choice for your daughter, you must have thought it was a healthy food for HER, right? If not, you wouldn't have decided to make it for her (at least, I assume so). Therefore, when she asked whether it was "healthy" or not, you should've answered…

I think I saw a movie about this. It's kinda old, but I think it had Meryl Streep in it... Anyway, due to its ability to help so many other foods "be all they can be," I have to go with cheese.

If you're not losing weight, you need to eat more. It's really that simple. If you don't believe me, keep reading.
-
Unless you're quite "big boned," I wouldn't expect to lose that stomach at your weight.

Coffee, tea, sodas and sports drinks all contain very high percentages of water, so could certainly be counted from a technical standpoint. Personally, although I drink plenty of (black) coffee, I only consider unadulterated water when it comes to reaching my hydration goals.

Hmmm. Maybe I haven't learned anything. I must admit, I still currently held the notion that a given quantity of muscle (mass) weighed more than a given quantity of fat (mass). Is that incorrect? Now, I'm assuming that you aren't referring to whether a given weight of muscle weighs more than the same weight of fat (e.g.…

I don't have a dog in this race, but unless your link (which I could care less about looking at) says people with dwarfism are "midgets," you didn't make your point. Just pointing out a logical fallacy (which may be lost without a kitty gif to back it up).
-
Now you did it. In before someone tells you that your body ate all your vital organs without you noticing it.
-
Well, I don't know. Given the scenario that you describe, I guess you have no choice but to go over your goal amount, right? You certainly have my permission. In the future, you might want to plan your day in advance if blowing your daily allowance by lunch is an issue.

I think you forget where you're at. If you're not losing weight, you're not eating enough. It's all about the "starvation mode" man!
-
Well, to be fair, I don't think every member of this site is currently trying to lose weight. I, for one, enjoy the logging tool, which can be used for more than merely losing weight. And, I know you just didn't disparage "busybodies" on a PUBLIC forum (talk about irony!). Unless, of course, YOU were being ironic!…

As far as your example goes (and with all due respect to others that have noted similar situations), I would have to experience this dilemma personally (i.e. it would need to happen to ME) before I would accept "eating more to lose weight." The simple reason is that we're all operating on the honor system here. Many…

I appreciate this information. I've heard about this experiment, and now I will endeavor to find out more of the specifics (especially with your subsequent addition concerning the self-mutilation). The thing is, most individuals (excluding those with EDs, of course) that are "starving" will halt the process at (what they…

Someone else posted the pic, with the caption "Think twice," which seemed to imply the OP (who I believe is over 100 kilos) should be concerned about looking like the pictured individual. There was no mention of heart (or any other physical) problems. I asked what he meant, but I'm the troll? I think you must be smelling…
-
Are you trying to imply that the OP should be concerned about looking like the individual in the pic?
-
Although accurate, this differentiation is perhaps lost to many. To be fair, I'm only going by the number of posts dealing with "loosing" weight, however.
-
When someone is attracted to an individual that happens to carry a few extra pounds, I don't think it's a matter of not basing their attraction on the "physical." I think, in most cases, they like what they see, despite cultural norms.
-
Yeah, I noticed that this was your first post. It seems "first-time posters" disproportionately have some great new idea they want to spread around.
-
I think I'm in love. If you also know the difference between "loose" and "lose," well that would just complete the experience!

The issues typically discussed here are potentially life threatening (e.g. caloric restriction in order to achieve weight loss). Anyone who blindly follows advice received on a PUBLIC forum is doing themselves a grave disservice. At the very least, get some corroboration from a professional if you're going to act on…

I think I'm a bit less upset than you two seem to think, but carry on. And no, I'm not complaining about the "mean people" here, and all the wisdom they impart. I lost all my weight (only 35 lbs, so nothing to brag about, to be sure) by exercise, and limiting my excesses. I use this site to log my calories. Oh, and for the…

It must be refreshing to be able to gang up on others in a forum! I'm sorry you didn't understand me. Cheers! :drinker:
-
That stings, especially coming from a poster whose considered response is "lol wut?"
-
I apologize. I didn't realize that you were actually assuming that the OP didn't know that his wife could get her sandwich TO GO. And I thought I underestimated people.
-
Or perhaps she can go to HIS favorite place and watch HIM eat. You know, sorta like what you're saying he should do for her.
-
It's a shame to lose (or is it "loose?") someone who can express themselves so well.
-
I often see posters making an effort to explain a position, by providing a rationale, which is then refuted by ad hominems (such as "lolwut?"). In some cases, it's obvious to most why someone would respond this way (e.g. body wraps causing fat reduction), but it may not be so obvious to others. I, for one, don't know that…

First off, great work! I was interested in this topic, since I've been thinking the same thing myself. I was hoping to see my abs a bit more clearly, but I think perhaps I need a "cleaner" diet for that to happen. Since I won't be doing that, I may decide to start relaxing what I eat.
-
In my experience, if someone doesn't want to do something, they can usually come up with a pretty good reason to justify it. There's nothing wrong with not having enough time to log your calories, but to ask for assistance on a forum without even taking such a minimal step? Perhaps the OP should just revisit the whole…
