Can you please tell me what's in potato chips (or any legal food, for that matter) that is comparable to cocaine? I'm not one of the "you need to eat junk food" crowd, but this is a bit over the top.

Wait...are you saying that these companies, whose purpose is to produce food for a profit, actually try to make their products taste good? It's a crazy world.

10 years without regaining? It seems like you don't know the statistics on those that regain their weight regardless of the method they used to lose initially. It's amusing that so many are incredulous that individuals exist that can actually pass on foods they would otherwise eat, in order to lose weight. It says more…

Another post where someone will listen to any reason (don't forget the ever-popular "starvation mode") that they can't lose weight, except, of course, that they're eating too much food.
-
It's obviously much more difficult to eat less of <insert "forbidden" food here>, than it is to avoid said food completely. The only way we can prove to ourselves (and MFP, and the world at large) that we have achieved the highest enlightened state of self-control is to keep eating those foods. Hope this helps.

True, but if I had nothing else to go on, I would take the skinny person's advice on weight loss before I'd listen to the fat one.
-
Sure, you're right. OTOH, there's nothing wrong with not eating a pizza right before you go to bed, either. If I was telling someone I didn't agree with IF, and they said it worked (which makes me assume you practice it, correct?), yes, I would wonder if they had any practical experience (and not just using Google), if…

Interestingly enough, I was just thinking about posting this topic today, since I have the same desire. This site is very convenient, but I'm surprised at some of the basic functionality that's missing, considering how long it's been around. They allow you to delete "frequent" foods, but not "recent?" Seems rather…

It does in my case. During my last cut, I found myself getting full on half a Subway sandwich (in this case), and would remark about how odd it was that I formerly ate a whole one at one sitting. Fast forward to the end of my last bulk, and yep, eating a full-size with no problem. I'm currently eating less the half the…

Post: "Hey guys, I just noticed that this restaurant chain may be under-reporting their calories. In practice, you may be getting more than you expected. Perhaps this matters to those that log what they eat." Bizarre majority of responses: "What's the problem? You don't like food? Give your extra to me." Are these the same…

Well, you say "this," but are we trying to imply that exercise is necessary for weight loss? Sure, resistance training is important to maintain lean muscle mass, but that's not what's being said here. Or, are we saying that because someone prefers the couch to indulging in "sweaty" exercises, they couldn't be troubled to…

I will defer to the experts on this, but I agree that the guy looks fantastic (didn't know you needed steroids to have a six-pack though) at any age. I certainly wouldn't knock the guy for not being natural, however, considering his primary appeal is usually based on looking like a comic book character.

There are many good reasons to quit smoking, but needing to picture an evil Mr. Moneybags to do it is rather bizarre. Do you think tobacco execs have to take a test, in order to get promoted, where they have to prove their evil nature? All those high-level execs are quite interchangeable. Perhaps you should lobby your…
-
I never heard this one. You might want to stop buying milk, too, unless you want to send all those farm kids to the Riviera. I hate to break this to you, but tobacco execs are no more "evil" than the rest of them. Pretty much all high-level corporate management are only concerned with the bottom line.
-
Actually, there are many people who regret quitting smoking, which is why they pick up the habit again. That's another reason why the topic is so appropriate here. How many have lost a significant amount of weight (with the knowledge that it's unhealthy), only to regain it? Most think that consequences only befall others.
-
You forgot to say how much money they'll save also. Most smokers aren't idiots; they know the downside to the habit. The judgmental aspect ("dusgusting" [sic]) can be left out of it. How about we stick to the positive? Why don't we tell the fat people on here how nasty they look. That'll get them to stop overeating, right?…

I don't need a lot of variety or extravagance in my diet, when pursuing a deficit, so my current "go-to" meal is a ham and cheese sandwich, on white, which clocks in at about 300. Of course, this isn't the lowest calorie option, but it has a decent enough nutritional profile that I don't lose too much sleep over it. For…

Um, what kinds of foods were you basing your diet on? I'm not necessarily pro-WW, but to imply that following their point guideline would cause you to lose hair? Admittedly, some basic nutritional education is required (like the kind you get in elementary school), but what kind of crap would you have to be eating to have…

I'm certainly no expert, but this doesn't seem to make much sense, since the "loose skin" state would occur before the "low body fat" state. Are you implying that low body fat causes the body to get rid of all that excess skin (perhaps by "eating" it)? If anything, I would think the problem would become worse. I'm sure I…

I have no idea why anyone would think the list you gave could be "too much" protein. However, if you were actually concerned about the issue, I would think you would have been more specific (the weight of the food would've been a good start).

Here's the thing: What makes the awesome people so awesome is the existence of all those "others," who act like putting down the fork is tantamount to tearing down the Berlin wall.
-
In this day and age, even with the Internet (and you know they have it, or they wouldn't be posting here), you still have those that 1) can't fathom that there's a world outside their little fishbowl, and 2) would rather mock others for being "wrong," instead of taking 30 seconds to research.

Nah, you must be new here. Nothing takes away the old hunger pangs like a teaspoon of Ben & Jerry's!
-
"Appearance above all the rest of your attributes?" Oh, so they're mutually exclusive? One couldn't possibly not be overweight, and still have those other "attributes," right? The horror. Not wanting to be fat doesn't necessarily mean you have self-esteem issues. It might just mean you don't want to be fat. And those ads…

Weddings aren't about looking good for your soon-to-be-spouse. They're about how you present yourself to everyone else (think Facebook). Also, because the "skirts can hide quite a bit," are you trying to imply that weight loss wouldn't be noticeable? I don't even know how to respond to that assertion (although this may…

If someone states "a pound of muscle weighs more than a pound of fat" (for sake of argument, but I have no idea who would say this), yes, that statement can be refuted. I really don't see the need to explain why. If someone alternatively states "muscle weighs more than fat," and an individual responds with "a pound equals…

I wish there was a "Best MFP Post" vote button.

You read "somewhere?" Like in a tabloid? On a bumper sticker? Are you unable to find nutritional information for bagels, that you can be reasonably confident of? Assuming this post is legit, it no longer surprises me why some have an endless battle with weight loss.

Do you really believe that you know something Oz doesn't? He makes huge sums of money by being a sellout. I'm sure you wouldn't do the same thing, given the opportunity, but that makes him morally bankrupt, not ignorant. I doubt the OP's doc has any motivation to be giving knowingly incorrect information, although that…

What food guide? I should probably take a look at this thing.
