^^^ This, i have "tried" to lose weight in the past and i was successful for a few months here and there then got frusterated and went back to my old habits, i have the right support system this time and i am 100% ready and in the right mind set

Got into the gym before work this morning, was able to get the Smith Machine as well, i feel a lot more confident doing my lifts on the Smith machine so i can focus on form and now worry about dropping the bar: Squats: 2x5 @ 45 warmups then 5x5 @ 100, my knee was DESTROYED from Spin last night (the instructor had the…

I agree, the reason i suggested the TDEE was based on the fact that the OP said they were doing a lot of strength training and there's really no way to account for the calories burned during strength traning. I completely agree with you on the MFP calories, i know what my range for TDEE is based on my calculations but rely…
-
also make sure you are weighing and measuring EVERYTHING you eat and are logging accurately and honestly.... that was why i gained the weight back that i had lost
-
on WW i did lose weight (i lost about 10lbs in 6 weeks) but it was unnecessarily quick, now i am just more careful and i going to see sticking to a little higher number for 6 weeks then reevaluate. If you calculated TDEE is correct you should still lose weight if you did the calculations correct (for m 198 @ 5'5' my BMR…
-
yes, that would be my recommendation, and closer to your BMR on days you do not work out. I was actually doing WW for about 6 weeks and once i started ramping up the exercise i was getting light headed at the gym so i reevaluated and upped my calories  hope this helps
-
getting one for christmas, just wanted to save this post
-
have you tried calculating your TDEE? I know my goal is between 1500-2000 calories/day MFP has me at 1550, so i days i workout i eat a little more (198lbs 5'5' F). My suggestion is if you haven't already calculate your TDEE to encorporate those exercise calories so you dont neet to worry about trying to figure out how many…

her misconceptions of women lifting heavy.... she's been kinda against me lifting heavy (she doesnt want me to hurt myself) for some time now :/ thats part of why i brought up the story at the gym and when the trainer who was out on the floor with me said "her squats and deadlifts were perfect"
-
i just responded with "yeah.... i dont want to be bulky....just toned" and moved on lol
-
there was some guy who, apparently i insulted, by making a generalization about grunting meat heads and he grunts when he works out and i'm judging him for being a meat head or something rediclous like that :/
-
i probably would have just stared them down for the rest of the session LOL stupid *kitten*
-
it's funny because i brought up what happened at the gym to my mom and her first reaction is "i like it when a woman is toned but she should not be bulky" UMMMMMMM i've been lifting heavy for almost 6 months now (granted not as regulary as i would like) and IM NOT GETTING BULKY?!?!? i dont understand this concept of either…
-
Thank you, unfortuanly it went exactly as i expected it to go (well not so much his strong woman competition suggestion after i proved that i wasn't some stupid girl off the streets) i had one a few years back at a different gym and the woman made me feel like complete crap...needless to say i didn;t sign up for her…
-
i'm glad im not the only one that noticed that lol
-
got a strength traning workout in yesterday morning, still using the Smith Machine for everything: Squats: 2x5 @45 for warmups then 5x5 @ 95 for working set, starting to get harder but still managable with the 90 second break inbetween sets Bench: 2x5 @ 45 for warmus then 5x5 @ 70 for working sets, I used one of the steps…

Sorry if you took that the wrong way but this is what I meant http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=meathead

LOL oh my boyfriend got a good bit of my rant too lol but yes i completely agree, i dont know if the guys attitude frusterated me more or if the people online being jerks... like really, if you dont have anything nice or constructive to say then dont post!

i agree, sadly i saw him today and he acted liek nothing happened, but i'm happy to say he is not my trainer and i will not be working with him, and the trainer i did have was super supportive of my goals
-
THANK YOU THANK YOU AND THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
-
I completely agree, thats part of the reason why i actually switched gyms...there was NO FEMALES in the free weights area... and it was all meathead guys who were grunting and just obnoxious... i am pleased to say that i went for my workout last night and there were quite a few women lifting heavy in the free weights…
-
So i was at the gym today, and i finished my spin class and i was walking out and he was over by his office and he was like "HI HAYLEY HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND  " i was just like  and walked out.... too funny
-
Went to the gym last night for my workout, i was able to snag the Smith Machine for the entire workout: Squats 2x5 @45 for warmups, then 5x5 @90 OHP 5x5 @ 60, my back was super tight during these, maybe because i'm actually using proper form (the seat i was using had a foot rest so i couldn't arch my back like i usually do…

I agree with you to a certain extent, i told him i have been doing stronglifts for 6 months on and off, mostly on and i have been going to the gym and doing the classes, specifically mentioned body pump, for 2 years, so im not a new person off the street. But, yes i do agree from a safety standpoint, but he did not have to…

They were male, i actually really liked him and am considering signing up for session with him
-
LMFAO  i just shook my head and was like whateve mr.meathead
-
Thanks  the trainer and even the guy who signed me up for the gym were both super supportive of me lifting, so i'm hoping it ws just that one guy
-
The actual trainer himself was AMAZING and i'm going to sign up for at least a months worth of sessions with him, it was just that guy in particular who had some interesting ideas about women and weights?!? Even the guy i signed the contract with was amazingly helpful and supportive

THANK YOU!!!!
