I gained weight :(
So, last night I binged (had a horrible day) and had an entire box of somoas, and some other cookies and jelly beans.... oops.... and I knew I was already retaining more water than usual, likely because I just started strength training again and am still in that annoying 'my muscles are retaining water' phase. I weighed in…

Frusterated with the Scale
Hi Guys, So I have seen a lot of 'I'm not losing any weight', 'what am I doing wrong?' or 'I'm stuck/plateau' posts. Here's my two cents.... I posted my profile picture on facebook a couple days ago. This picture has a lot of sentimental meaning to me because the picture on the left was when I decided I was sick of feeling…

Some of the things I have learned along the way...
I have been on an on-again, off-again weight loss journey since I was 18(ish), quite possibly before because I remember needing doctor permission when my mom took me to WW the first time. So I was probably still in high school. One of the main reasons its been so on-again, off-again was because life always seemed to get in…

And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake I shake it off, I shake it off In all seriousness, many of you have experienced some hate when you started your journey. This is an amazing article which was posted in my strength training group. I figured I'd post it here as a little reminder to keep doing you and…

Its about about the choices
Hey Guys, I've been seeing a lot of posts about which exercises burn the most fat or which exercises are the best. While exercise does help create a deficit and it also allows you to eat a little more, WEIGHT LOSS HAPPENS IN THE KITCHEN. One of my favorite WW adages is 'You cannot exercise out a bad diet', this is 1000%…

....That's weird
So my mom and i went Christmas shopping on sunday, and i have been super hesitant to go clothes shopping because i still have a lot of stuff that fits and i see no point in buying new stuff that won't fit (hopefully) within the next few months or so. My mom asked me if i wanted to go into NY&Co, i reluctantly agreed and…

Holidays...
With all the holidays and parties between Thanksgiving and New Years, this can be one of the most difficult time of the year to lose weight. Many of us will be faced with parties and coworkers bringing tasty treats into work. I know in years past i've said screw it and have given into the temptations or "it's only one day"…

Diet Tricks/Tips
I have seen a lot of posts lately about low carb/sugar and/or people asking for tips and tricks. In my opinion, all that really matters (UNLESS YOU HAVE A MEDICAL ISSUE) is that you stay within your calories. You can eat 1200 calories of McDonalds or 1200 calories of Vegetables, granted you'll probably be starving and feel…

"i'll be happy when...."
This is one statement I used to use all the time "i'll be happy when i'm a size 18" or "i'll be happy when i can shop in normal stores vs the plus size stores". But honestly, one thing i have learned on my 5-10 year journey, is that i will never be happy once i reach those goals unless i am truley happy and comfortable…

So Sick!
I am so sick of gaining weight, of being obsessessed with my logging, of feeling like i am doing the best that i can do but i am still not seeing the results. This week my goal is to start hitting my step goal each day, even if that means taking a walk at lunch and when i get home at night. I want to be able to eat the…

Does this seem reasonable?
I just completed Stage 1, i still have the bonus workouts to complete this week as well as one set of each exercise from Stage 2 in preparation to start Stage 2 next week. During Stage 1 I was doing 2-3 days of lifting, 2-3 Body Combat classes(30 mins each) and 2-3 CX Workx classes (30 mins each). For Stage 2 i am thinking…

logging exercise on App vs on Site?
Is there a difference? I noticed when i logged my strength training session on the FitBit site, it included my steps/distance in the entry, but when i did it from the app my steps/distance were not included.

FINALLY!
So over the past few weeks i have been working on cleaning up my eating habits. For breakfast, for awhile i was having a bagel with cream cheese, now i am having an egg white breakfast burrito with jimmy dean turkey sausage, peppers and onions. For lunch i was having a sandwich, goldfish, almonds and maybe another snack,…

kind of confused....
I use my weekly Fitbit report to calculate my TDEE and put that number into FitBit then subtract the percentage (e.g. 5%-10%) from that number and put it into MFP, is that correct?

still logging?
So yesterday i had a conversation with my coworker, and told her how i am still logging and she looked at me and said "after all this time you are still counting calories, you don't know how many calories are in what you're eating?" I looked at her really confused and said "i do, but it helps me to track so i don't…

Dr Phils 20/20 Diet
So my mom has read the book and was explaing it to me, and for the first 5 days you can only eat certain things (e.g. Cod, Lentils, Leafy Greens, Green Tea and a few other things) then for stage 2 you add more food then you finish on stage 3 with tips on eating out. I'm sorry but am i the only one that thinks this is…

CICO vs Low Carb?
I am a strong believer in Calories In/Calories Out for weight loss, as i have had the most success with this; but today at the gym i overheard a conversation between two women (probably about mid 20's) and one of them saying how she does mostly low carb (keeping it around 40-50g) or something really tiny like that but she…

didn't gain, didn't lose, stayed the same...
I am actually really happy i stayed the same, i'd be happier with a loss, however, considering this week was my first week back in the gym after almost a month break and my TOM is this week, i am very happy. I have learned it isn't so much about the number on the scale as it is about how you feel, and i felt amazing this…

just starting out
I just switched from Stronglifts 5x5 to the NROLFW and have completed workouts 1A & 1B, so far I love it and it is so much more challenging than Stronglifts was for me. Anybody else just starting Stage 1?

Positive Changes
I have been following NROLFW for about 3 weeks now, prior to that I was doing Stronglifts 5x5, and I have to say I have seen more positive changes in my body in the past 3 weeks than I have in the past year and a half of dieting and exercising. I no longer have to pray, wiggle and squeeze into my workpants that I…

My goal for this week....
So about a month ago, a little less, I started the New Rules of Lifting for Women, and started counting calories on MFP again, after a 6 month hiatus of me thinking I knew what I was doing/could eat whatever I wanted and gaining the weight back and then flipped to Weight Watchers were I was under eating because I was too…

Isn't it ironic...
So about 2 years ago for a solid 6 months I was KILLING myself at the gym, and lost some weight it was somewhat noticeable but I wasn't tracking my weight so i'm not sure exactly how much I lost. That summer was a series of unfortunate events and everything kind of went out the window, then I was introduced to MFP in…

Scared of Calories
So one of the things that I have noticed, more so when I was on Weight Watchers, but it is still somewhat occurring now that I'm back on MFP and I am eating at maintenance for the NROLFW program. I notice that I am almost afraid of eating all my calories incase I go over or if I need some extra at the end of the day or if…
