Assuming weight loss is your goal, the caloric deficit is most important, not which macronutrients you eat. That said, it's easier to maintain your caloric deficit if you are eating foods that satisfy you, at a schedule that works best for you. I found myself eating only 20% carbs or less when I was losing weight because…

Those eyes look kind of devious in a good way.

I like milk right after my workout (heavy weights). Actually, chocolate milk. I think it's a good way to get the carbs and protein you need to replenish muscle glycogen and begin to repair muscles. You can add protein and other supplements to the milk or chocolate milk in a shaker cup. Basically I'm saying milk is good as…

Fat burning and pre-workout are separate issues in my view. Check out muscleforlife.com, Michael Matthews. He knows what he is talking about. His preworkout he sells is good. Here is a youtube vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHO0ZXQx9X8 For pre-workout stack (for strength, focus, performance), caffeine (350-500 mg),…

Your priorities are off, in my view. Set a calorie goal. I do not recommend a deficit, as you are not very heavy. A caloric deficit, short term, would stress your body. Just whatever # of overall calories cause you to stay at 190. Eat a balanced diet, but plenty of protein (at least 150 grams per day). Don't worry about…

Based on your comments, it sounds like you should address your diet and eliminate foods that cause you issues. I lost inches off my waist just from that, without losing much weight. I cut dairy by about 90%, same with grains, all processed foods, near elimination of booze, and I increased veggies and decreased fruit. I…

I'm glad someone else already said this. Please don't go into it saying "I don't want to bulk up." This whole bulking versus toning thing is 100% *kitten*. You do not have enough testosterone, you do not eat enough protein, and you do not lift heavy enough to "bulk up." So, ditch that mentality altogether, and lift hard…

Actually, it may help you. Check out leangains.com I only eat from 12p-8pm daily. It's a form of intermittent fasting. For women, a 14 to 16 hour daily fast can help weight loss. Men can do 16 hours or even more. I lost 40 lbs doing this, watching my calories and doing weight training. I highly recommend this, especially…

...deadlifts are more important THAN the cardio*

I was replying to the original post. But having read that, I put an exclamation point on my original recommendation. With the exception of actual 'weakness' in the lower abs (as opposed to just not feeling muscle there) isolation work in general is a waste of energy when you are doing a program like strong lifts, and doing…

All this isolation work advice and mentality is ill-advised. Sounds like you have stubborn fat in your lower abs. What worked for me (6 pack at age 46) is heavy-compound movements that work the core. For example: Deadlifts. With heavy weight. Squats (heavy barbell squats). Add in 2 times a week of high intensity cardio…
