high school was when i was the most overweight. i was overweight and slightly obese since i was 7 years old. in 10th grade i was my heaviest at 192 lbs, and i'm 5' 4". now i'm 120 lbs, the lightest i've ever been in my adult life :)

glad to help! o:)

There are some high-protein plants out there. Beans (don't forget peas and green beans in there too), edamame, spinach, sprouts, artichoke, broccoli, kale, mushrooms, asparagus and corn are some that come to mind. Also, though high in calorie, nuts - especially almonds and pumpkin seeds - are another source, as well as soy…

you can't spot pick where fat will come off, unfortunately. i've heard a rule of thumb is fat will come off first the last place it goes on, but i don't know how accurate that is. for me, my face is one of the first places to slim down. it has changed very dramatically since i've lost weight. you've just got to keep losing…

:# those sure are annoying. lol.

i'm 24, been overweight/slightly obese since I was 7 years old. i've lost 72 lbs from my highest weight and i'm down in the lower healthy BMI range for my height now, the lowest i've ever been in my adult life. and i do have loose skin. even though i'm young, my skin has not "snapped back", but it might get better in a…

I'm vegan, and to compensate when I need extra protein I use Garden of Life raw protein powder in the chocolate version. There are a few other flavors, but I've only tried the chocolate. It doesn't taste bad, and has 17g of protein for 90 cals, so it works quite well when you're budgeting your calories!

I like the Special K brand, whether it's just the protein plus or the more indulgent one with chocolate.. haha. Also like Grape Nuts, as old-personish as that sounds. I think Weetabix is good too.

I became vegan September 2013, which also coincided when I started intentionally losing weight, though before that there were some favorite childhood snacks that I had avoided for years because I knew how many calories were in them. So, in conjunction with not having animal products AND watching my calories and other…

I developed a kind of mixture of bulimia and anorexia (but closer to bulimia -- I'd restrict for a week and then have an all-out binge and purge) when I was 16 (I'm 24 now). Luckily, by the time I was 18/19 I was able to *mostly* stop restricting, binging and purging, but I still did some overexercising at times. When I…

i've posted pics of myself in my underwear and no bra, just a black bar over my breasts. haven't had an issue with that. so i'm sure a bikini pic wouldn't be a big deal!

If you can't 100% control what food is in the house, I find that putting it somewhere I can't see it helps the most. Also, making decaf coffee (if it's at night) or tea really helps, as I find just drinking plain water can get pretty bland. Something with more flavor makes me feel more satisfied. Now, if you are *actually*…

My first real foray into losing weight was with Jenny Craig, when I was 15, nine years ago. Was on it for close to year, if I remember correctly, and lost about 45 lbs. Unfortunately after a couple of years the weight started creeping back up because I didn't really get the habit of keeping track of what you're eating when…

yes. sometimes working out distracts me from my issues, and sometimes it causes me to think about them more. i'll be running hard and pushing myself and it just like opens the floodgates to all my self-doubt, anger, and frustration.

well as i said i still have it when i have a sandwich if i go out somewhere, so i can moderate how much i have. i had to stop buying it because moderation is still VERY hard for me sometimes. sometimes i can do it, but i am prone to binging (i have emotional eating problems and had binge and purge cycles in the past), and…

bread for sure. i'd have probably at least two servings of bread per day. i had to just not buy it anymore and i only have it now if i get a sandwich when i go out somewhere.

as most people have said -- jeans or other bottoms. the way they'd dig into my stomach when i'd sit, and how my fat would bulge, and just how ugly i felt my gut looked. also, my inner thighs would rub together so much that the denim completely rubbed away and there'd be holes there instead. so embarrassing, AND the chafing…

first of all, burning 1,000 - 1,500 cals in one workout sounds really, really ridiculous to me. like, you'll have to work VERY hard for VERY long time (unless you are very large, and even then it will take a while) to burn that much. do you really want to do that? i know i sure wouldn't. in fact, i straight up would not do…

the Polar FT4 is MUCH more accurate for steady-state cardio, I.E. where you are doing cardio at the same/similar intensity so your heart rate isn't jumping all over the place like it would be in HIIT. so if your treadmill workout is steady-state then it should be rather accurate -- i still deduct 50 - 75 cals just to be…

usually right around 3 lbs, sometimes a little less or a little more.

i'll help ya if you want! i've lost 72 lbs. going for the last 5 - 10 or so (depending on how i look/feel).

if you're not sensitive to caffeine, i enjoy some hazelnut (or other yummy flavored) decaf coffee with some milk and sugar/other sweetener, and some dark chocolate cocoa powder added to it. the cocoa powder kind of makes it mocha-like. it's nice :)

hey! i'll be willing to help you, if you want :) totally understand your need for accountability from someone else. it can be hard!

i love sauteeing a bunch of veggies together, usually with just a tiny bit of oil and mostly water to cook them more with steam. it's a standard dinner for me at least several times a week. i'll throw all kinds in there -- broccoli, kale, spinach, zucchini, squash, tomatoes, mushrooms, green beans... and tofu if i need…

you can eat whatever you want, but filling foods are the best. for about 9 months i've had oatmeal nearly every day. 0.66c oatmeal has 7g of protein and 5g of fiber, and then i add 0.5 - 1 tbsp of peanut butter, and a tbsp of chia seeds. sometimes some fruit too, like berries or a small banana. usually that gets me between…

Bumping up to see if I can get any more people's opinions. Thank you for all the kind replies so far, I really appreciate them. To answer some people's questions: I'm not sure if I lost the weight that quickly. At 15, at my highest weight, was when I started to intentionally lose weight. I did it slowly and lost about 55…

OP, i am in nearly the same boat as you are. i've lost just over 70 lbs, still trying to lose another 5 - 10 lbs, but i have excess skin. and i have the same issue -- it hangs and folds like fat would, and so psychologically it messes with me. i still feel fat even though everywhere else on my body is thin/"normal"…

So, I'm not going through it, but my mother went through it to have my sister and I. It's cool to know all the sciencey stuff that went into creating me, and also to know my mom went through so much to have me because she wanted a child so much. Best of luck to you :)

i snack before bed every day. psychologically i feel unsatisfied if i don't. i just keep it within my defecit range, and it hasn't hindered my weight loss so far.

i'm vegan, so this is a vegan recommendation, but I think Garden of Life has some pretty good powder shakes. they have vanilla and vanilla spiced chai flavors. granted, i have only tried the chocolate flavor, but i think it's not too bad. 2 scoops is 310 calories and 34g protein.
