  • i have a huge sugar addiction as well. total avoidance has been key for me, because one cookie (or piece of candy, or scoop of ice cream, or whatever) leads to another, and another, and another! i allow myself some sweet treats, of course, but ONLY in single-servings (such as one scoop of ice cream at an ice cream shop, a…

  • i'm 5' 4", been off and on overweight (mostly on hah) since i was about 7 yrs old (i'm nearly 24 now). highest i've been was 192lbs at 15 years old. i started my weight loss again beginning of September 2013 (also when i started using MFP). when i started, i was 167lbs. currently i'm 125.8 lbs. my goal is set at 120, but…
  • the one time i tried working out in the morning before eating, i nearly fainted after just a few minutes of some warm-up jumping jacks. vision went white, felt weak and clammy for about 5 minutes. now, that was more than likely something to do with me and my physical conditions at the time -- perhaps my blood sugar was too…
  • somewhere in the 119 - 111 range...something about being in the 100-"teens" is really appealing to me. 107 is when i'll be underweight according to my BMI so even though i know 111 is a low number, it would still be healthy. but even seeing 120 will be great for me. i've never seen that on a scale in my teen or adult life…
  • i weigh every morning after i use the bathroom, before i eat anything, in just my underwear. i know very well the random fluctuations that happen, but because they are so random for me (one day i can be 2 lbs heavier than the day before, and then the next day 1 lb lighter, then so on and so forth), i like to weigh every…
  • oh me too! i've been having oatmeal for breakfast nearly every day for a good 7 or 8 months. i use mom's quick oats, some peanut butter, cocoa powder, sometimes cinnamon and sometimes berries or a banana and i'm good to go.
  • i LOVE peanut butter... laura scudder's is one of the best that i've had, and natural. i put some in my oatmeal every morning. also eat it on top of green apple slices. or just eat it straight out of the jar! i try my best to be careful with the stuff 'cause it's calorie dynamite. but when i do have it i enjoy every bit of…
  • 1st pic around 170 lbs, 2nd pic around 128 lbs.
  • i feel i'm somewhere in between 18 and 15. i'd like be to be a 4 or a 3 (but i know my breasts will never get that big..). pic of me currently:
  • 5' 4". before pic about 4 months before i started losing weight, i was around 165 lbs (i'm the one on the left). after pic taken a couple of days ago at 127 lbs.
  • yes, when i was 16/17, but i had an awful relationship with food and my body and had an eating disorder (combo of bulimia and anorexia). but i was not underweight. but anyways, i tried one truly terrible one which was a super low-carb diet, i think around 25g or less a day, and about 75% of your daily intake was just plain…
  • i'm vegan. in september 2013 i went from being omnivorous to being vegan in about three weeks. just decided i wanted to take the leap and try it -- for ethical reasons as well as weight loss reasons. and it hasn't been so so hard -- especially the fact that there are vegan pastries and desserts definitely keeps me sane ;)…
  • i've lost 40 lbs, and both of my aunts have made comments saying that i'm thin enough and ask me "you're not still trying to lose weight are you?" it really annoys and frustrates me. i'm at a perfectly good weight for my height, my BMI is right in the middle of the healthy range, i'd have to lose 20 more lbs to be at the…
  • Do you mean calculate my TDEE, minus 20% from it and then try to net that calorie level? How does figuring out how many calories I burned from this exercise fit in there? I'm sorry, I don't know much about that method :/
  • Anyone have any idea of about how much it's overestimating?
  • I became vegan in mid-September 2013. for the most part, i really enjoy it. i love exploring cooking and eating all kinds of plant foods. it's only difficult when i go to get-togethers, parties, or road trips where finding stuff to eat that's not just a plain fruit or vegetable (i'm not always in the mood for that!) is…
  • yes, yes, yes. i show about 2 - 3, sometimes even 4, lb gain a couple of days before my period, through my period and sometimes up to a day or two after it. aggravating, but comforting to know that it's NOT fat gain.
  • i've been on zoloft and lamictal for about ten years (crazy i know). i've been able to lose weight on them, so i guess they haven't been affecting my weight if i've been losing weight. however, my friend gained about 70 lbs from lamictal (but he also was not eating mindfully and healthfully and not working out). when he…
  • hello there :) i've been vegan since around mid-september. well, like you, i'd say mostly vegan. every now and then if i go to like a family get together and there's some yummy non-vegan dessert that i really really want, i will take a bite, but just literally a one or two-bite sized piece. i'm still new-ish at being vegan…
  • i know the feeling, it truly sucks :( after going for almost a year with feeling severely discouraged and depressed when i see the numbers jump up on the scale like that, i've finally started to calm down, and realize that our bodies (especially women's bodies) go all over the place in terms of weight that is NOT actual…
  • Wow, thanks for all the answers. So many different arguments here. I guess it seems more people are saying that calorie burn is not changed for the same activity even if fitness level is different but body weight is the same (which is kind of the question I was more curious about getting an answer to). Even after reading…
  • basically i'm just wondering -- if i did a new kind of cardio routine that my body was not used to, and even though it may not be deemed a very difficult activity (say, walking briskly on an incline), my heart rate (and i guess VO2 max level too) would go up higher than a person of the same weight whose body is used to…
  • But, even if people were the same weight but had a differing fitness level, wouldn't the less fit person's body still be working harder, and at a higher VO2 max level, and thus burning more calories?
  • 2/3c oatmeal and about half a tablespoon of peanut butter together in the morning always last me about 3 - 4 hours. together it gives me about 12g of protein for one meal, and the oatmeal takes up a good amount of space in the stomach, as well as has complex carbs, so i think those factors combined really help me feel…
  • don't mind the little baby Acorn Woodpecker in the first one XD and i used my profile pic for the after because it's the most recent i have.
  • i love mine with cocoa powder and peanut butter (soo yummy!!), sometimes with cinnamon too, and then occasionally add fruit to it (usually berries or banana).
  • as others have posted, it is an oral allergy. i get it with overripe bananas (just overripe, weird i know), and sometimes cantaloupe and pineapple. it's stupid! >:(
