Well I haven't been very good about sticking to the schedule, but I just finished 3.3 yesterday. 4.1 is planned for Thursday. I joined a gym about a week ago and the treadmills there are so much nicer than my wobbly one at home. I'm getting past the initial anxiety of the gym and starting to enjoy my "me" time. The only…

Scrapple - aka Pon Haus. It's a mush of pork scraps (usually from the hog's head, heart, liver & other trimmings) combined with buckwheat flour and spices. It's kind of grayish in color. You flatten it very thin and fry it. I haven't had it in years, but it's definitely ODD and definitely DELISH. I'll be surprised if…

Wisconsin here - if you have a good ol farmer supplier you'll pay about $5/bale but most folks are in that $6 range. It's about how much a gallon propane is going to cost me right now, too.

Right now you can get a bluetooth HRM strap along with a year of premium MapMyFitness for $49.99. that HRM strap would work on your smartphone and the app will give you heart rate analysis. You can pick up a battery power pack for your phone, too, to extend the battery life. Just another option. FWIW I have a garmin 310xt.…

Participate in my 1st 5K by July and a 10k by October Ride my horse in 4 25-50 mile endurance ride (depending on his fitness) Strengthen my core (not sure how to measure this!) Oh...and every day... Great advice here..thanks. I imagine you start somewhere and adjust along the way and let the attachment to a singular goal not be the end-all, be-all approach. Being FIT is considerably more important to me than reaching some arbitrary number. With that said, if I did hit that 135lb mark, I won't lie when I say I'd do a…

NIce to see a little more activity here! I'm from Wisconsin near Eau Claire. I have 2 horses - a palomino QH mare and a black Arabian gelding. 2014 is my debut into the endurance riding sport, which is a big reason why i'm here - I need to lose weight for us to be more competitive and keep him sound & healthy. Feel free to…

Hi Everyone! I'm also from Wisconsin - between Eau Claire and Hudson. You know it's been cold been people walk around today commenting how "warm" it was this morning. I spent the evening last night day dreaming about where I will move when my husband and I are empty-nesters. Hubby and I love to camp and I find that…

I had to skip a day - the top of my right foot hurts. I can't figure out if it's my tennis shoe laced too tight (so I have kept it looser now) or if perhaps it's a shoe I wore to work (and then gorcery shopping), or if it's just my feet getting used to walking and running again.

you might have something here.... Divorce? Nah....for the most part, I like the guy.

W1D3 Done! It's amazing how different one run can feel compared to another. I felt like I was flying this morning. I hope it's okay I keep posting my updates in my own thread... Do most people run every other day or 3 x week?

W1D2 Done! I had to get some new shoes and inserts...but I'm off and running now...(well, at least for 8 minutes!)

Hey there! I just started day one yesterday - which is pretty much exactly what you did, too. If you feel inclined, jump over to my thread. I'd enjoy sharing experiences w/you and I will also see if I can find a 5K when we're done. It's my 41st birthday on Feb 5th, so I think that running my first 5k would be an excellent…

Did you read Fearless yet? If you did, what'd you think? I'll have to put Lone Survivor on my list to read soon.

Fearless: The Undaunted Courage and Ultimate Sacrifice of Navy SEAL Team SIX Operator Adam Brown written by Eric Blehm This was an absolutely fantastic and powerful book and not what I expected. I highly recommend it.

Day 1 is here! My son is throwing up, my daughter has a band concert after school, and I'm behind at work. Those are the facts. However, hey are NOT going to turn into excuses. I have a date with my treadmill at 9:00pm tonight (or earlier). Thanks to all of you for encouraging me as I start this program.

I'm starting day 1 on Dec 16th. anyone want to join me? http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1150272-running-partners-starting-day-1-on-dec-16th

Wow...thank you for all of time you all took to respond and offer encouragement and advice! I do believe that writing this down has helped me identify what areas I should change first. You nailed it when you said i am taking on too much all at once. it's true - I feel as if my day wasn't good enough unless i checked "all…

I've started it 3 times but haven't finished it yet - I typically switched to riding road bike around week 5. However, I am no longer riding the road bike and want to start - and finish - the C25k. So hell yeah..i'm starting again...and would love to go through the weeks with a few others here. Friend me if you feel…

Reviving this thread - looking for some more horse people! I would like to find some like-minded people who are as horse crazy as I am. I'm looking to lose 35 pounds. My goal is to do distance riding and if I expect my horse to carry me 50 miles, I better do my part and lose the weight too. I'm just getting back into…

Add me, too! I'm rebooting at age 40. I bought a horse and want to do long distance endurance riding. To be fair to him, I need to do my part and lose the 35 extra pounds I'm carrying. My exercise of choice will be walking and running as I hope to do the couch to 5K and/or Zombies Run program starting TONIGHT.
