Go on youtube and do a search for "chair aerobics." There are lots of exercises you can while you are sitting down.

I don't blame you for not listening to the nutritionist ...I wouldn't adjust a medication dose unless a medical doctor told me it was safe to do so. If I were you I would ask my endocrinologist for his/her opinion. If he/she says it is safe to reduce your insulin dose that doesn't exactly constitute diabulima.

I have type 2 diabetes, but because of the sudden onset of my diabetes I was initially misdiagnosed as having type 1. I gained about 30 lbs. in the 3 months I took insulin. My endocrinologist said that weight gain can be a side effect of using insulin. So I wonder if difficulty in losing weight could also be an issue for…

The OP is only 19 years old! If she were mostly sedentary and middle aged I am sure her opinion would be VERY different.

^^^^THIS!!!!^^^^ Geneen Roth is an amazing author. She has several other good books too including "Breaking Free From Compulsive Eating," "Feeding the Hungry Heart," "When Food Is Love," and the book I am currently reading, "Appetites." I don't necessarily agree with her 100% since she would be opposed to logging food. But…

A woman after my own heart! :drinker: I almost always have a piece of chocolate as my last snack of the night. I've also recently discovered that higher quality chocolate is more satisfying in small amounts than "cheap" chocolate. I never thought I'd be a person who would think one piece of chocolate was enough, but now it…

Two different doctors....my family doctor and my endocrinologist...have both told me that the "calories burned" estimates given by Fitbit (and similar tracking devices) are exaggerated. They also said that one should NOT eat back any of their exercise calories if they are trying to lose weight.

Everyone keeps talking about the annoyance of reaching things on the top shelves in grocery stores (and it IS annoying) but no one mentioned how much of a pain in the butt it is to have to climb up on the kitchen counter to reach anything on upper shelves of the cabinets.

I think it depends on the person. I lose weight at a faster rate than MFP predicts I will. But some people do lose weight more slowly than MFP predicts. The prediction is based on the "average" metabolic rate so those with a faster metabolism will lose more than the predicted amount while those with a slower metabolism…

That makes 2 of us! :-) I bet the surgery is similarly cheap at other hospitals affiliated with public universities, especially in areas like Iowa that have a lower cost of living. I am most definitely going to remember this when the time comes for me to be thinking about surgical options.

Try buying jeans that have some spandex in them...they are more forgiving and therefore less likely to rip.

Honestly I think the pic on the right just isn't a very good picture of you. When I look at your profile pic compared to the 2 pics you posted in this thread the loss is OBVIOUS.

My dog (yes he IS a person!) and my laptop with internet access. If you could eat whatever you wanted to for a whole day and the calories wouldn't count, what would you eat?

Agree 100% with all of this...very well said.
