Life-long vegetarian gaining at 2500 a day (: Although my goal is definitely to gain weight, I'm doing it as healthily as possible! Best way to get those extra calories in is through nuts and shakes in my opinion!!

Are you looking to gain muscle or are you underweight and need to gain fat? What's your exercise plan like? Under the best circumstances, a women can gain 0.5kg of lean muscle per month, basically any other weight gained will be fat/water retention! This number could be a bit higher if you're new to lifting (newbie gains).…

Thanks everyone! Didn't even know about the pills, you learn something new every day!

Awesome, thanks! That's the kind of insight I was looking for!

Because I know how much she loves this cake! But since she "discovered" her lactose intolerance, I'm not sure if she can have it... But if she can, I'd much prefer to make this since it is (used to be?) her favourite!

Haha no problem, mornings are tough ;p I really hope it's just stress, I'll see how it goes these next few months now that I'm not as stressed! It's HIGHLY unlikely that I'm pregnant, but you never know! Your Grans story makes me wonder =S haha

Not every day, every other day! Probably around 30mins of intense training, full body workout with free weights, no machines. Compound exercises (squats, dumbell rows etc..). I am planning on losing more fat and building muscle! Actually, since I've started strength training I've GAINED 2kgs (~5lbs) and DROPPED 2 pants…

I'm not the one who said they would collapse. Someone else did. Just to be clear, I said that it didn't work for me but I know it can work for some and that OP should try it herself to find out. You can't argue with that.

I'd just like to add that some people are talking about IF (intermittent fasting), and you should do your research before hand on the risks. I don't at all want to trash IF because I know many healthy women out there swear by it. But many say their bodies can't handle it. There has been little research into it for women,…

Are you serious? I really don't mean to be rude, but refrain from commenting if you don't know what you're talking about. Walking is not the best way to lose weight. It's far from the best way. If she were morbidly obese and struggled with day to day life then of course I would suggest walking, but she isn't! Let me break…

Whatever works best for you. As mentioned already, some studies suggest fasted workouts are best. Others say there are less benefits and even disadvantages for women. In the end, everyones different, so do what feels right. If you're usually hungry after exercise, then eat after your walk. If exercising on an empty stomach…

I have days when I don't track.. But that's mainly because I've been so obsessive about it in the past that I know how many calories is in basically EVERYTHING I eat! So although I'm not technically writing it all down, I can give you an estimate in under a minute haha But I think you can lose without tracking, as long as…

First off, congratulations for getting to where you are now and wanting to do things the healthy way! I understand disordered eating, and although my weight fluctuation has been less drastic than yours, I definitely understand how food can occupy your every thought and create a lot of anxiety.. The thing I found that has…

For pure and simple short term weight loss, yes. But like someone said, food is fuel. If you think of your body like a machine, the quality of fuel you put into it is very important. Eating a lot of sugar for example will cause rapid spikes and drops in your blood sugar levels, which leads to increased hunger and cravings.…

I'm 5'4 and tend to stick between 108-112lbs…

Congrats on your fat loss so far! There are a few things I'd just like to mention.. First you can't burn fat on one particular area of your body. Fat comes off in layers, so it doesn't matter what exercise you do, it won't come off in a particular spot. 1000 crunches won't necessarily burn more fat off your belly, it all…

Thanks for the advice! I know that women will have more problems with linear weight loss because of our monthly cycle -.- It can get frustrating when you've been so good yet the scale goes up 5lbs overnight due to water retention!!
-
Thank you for saying that!! I struggle a lot with people saying that I'm already too thin, that I shouldn't be cutting calories anymore and all of that crap. I'm skinny fat and I have to cut so my muscles will be visible!! I know I'm going about lifting and cutting a healthy way, but I get so frustrated when people tell me…

Don't try and outrun your diet! Often times machines will overestimate calories burned and humans tend to underestimate calories consumed! Cut just a couple hundred calories to begin with. Losing weight is all about slow and steady changes. Don't waste your time with cardio (unless you enjoy it) because it's the most time…

Thanks everyone! I thought it was a bit odd.. And although I keep on reminding myself that if I'm doing everything right, I can't be gaining fat, it's still frustrating to feel and look bigger! I'll cut back on the curry spice from now on haha

You seemed very upset about this.. Let me just share a bit of friendly advice with you.. It doesn't matter what you've eaten. What's done is done. Whether you've eaten 200 calories or 2000, you can't change it. Don't feel bad, and DEFINITELY don't try and "make up" for it by cutting back tomorrow. This will just cause you…

Read Allen Carr's "Easy Way to Stop Smoking" Just google it and the second or third link should be a PDF to the whole book. I smoked pretty heavily for 5 years and stopped from one day to the next, no problem. I know the book sounds cheesy, but it really is amazing. And no I'm not trying to sell it to you, the authours…

Ahh, I can definitely relate..! I do have a routine to try and curb as much of the hangover as possible.. Firstly as you said, drink water all throughout the night. I'd go as far as to say drink at least as much water as beer/wine and double the amount for any mixed drink. Try to never go to bed completely wasted. For some…

At times, but not as severe as now. I'm also under a great deal of stress though, as I have exams coming up and problems at home. I'll very rarely do cardio. I enjoy HIIT but even when I was on a high calorie diet, it was impossible to integrate into my workout routine without giving up a weight training day so I stopped.

Sounds like a great plan! Just calculated without lifting, TDEE says 1550cals/day. Will bump it up to 1600 and see if that makes a difference! I'll try this if my current cutting plan doesn't work after applying all the tips everyone else gave me! Thanks (:

My weight has fluctuated over the last 18 months. When I first started losing weight at around 145lbs, I did it the unhealthy way by drastically cutting my calories and no exercise. I lost over 30pounds in a few months but also ended up in the emergency room after collapsing. Physically I felt terrible but it was more…

Maybe you're right! To be honest, I was kind of hoping someone would tell me it's normal and to push through because it would get better soon :P That's something I'm working on, listening to my body rather than my mind. I should listen to "You need to eat." rather than "You'll go over you're calories!!" or "You're full."…

I know it's not the protein, because as a vegetarian that lifts heavy, if there's one thing I'm a bit obsessive about, it's protein! I make sure I get enough daily through shakes, eggs, yogurts, quinoa and so on! I know how important it is (and difficult without eating meat!!) But will definitely look into the carbs as a…

I would love to test my Body Fat % but still haven't found a place near where I live that does it!! But I'll keep on looking!

THIS x1000 I swear by NerdFitness. 95% of what I know came from that website alone. I owe most of my progress to them!!
