I love your idea! I have the same thing going on because my birthday is 2/11, but it's not a donut, it's chocolate cake! I'm going to go to dinner and I'm going to eat that cake! It really does help stop the cravings when you can see it on the horizon. I'm going to log, and do the best I can the rest of the day, and…

Telling everyone I know that I'm on a diet! Every time I want to binge I remind myself that everyone is going to know if I'm successful or if I blow it and I have too much pride to let people see me blow it!

This topic confuses me as well. I am at 1260 calories and I do not eat back my calories from exercise. I have only been doing this for a couple weeks, and have lost 7 lbs so far. I realize the initial week or two of a diet results in a higher weight loss than what will be normal due to water weight but so far so good. I…

Hi! So exciting to see everyone's goals! I would say I have a serious amount: 5'8 and started at 250. Down 7 lbs and still have 92 more to go! What an accomplishment it will be when we all get there! It's totally not impossible. There are so many success stories! We got this!

I had a big problem at first with underestimating my calories. If you can be very strict with weighing and counting everything you eat, I bet you will get better results. You are right, it is impossible to accurately count cafeteria food. When I started logging I totally gave up the cafeteria at work. Now, I weigh and…

So sorry for your loss! I know it isn't the same as losing a child but my brother was killed on October 20. We were exactly 13 months apart in age and we were very close. I was/am devastated to say the least. It just so happens that he is my inspiration for being here and starting my diet. I never thought about death…

I have no scholarly information, but my feeling is that it probably can. If your calf and hamstring muscles can shrink I don't see why your stomach can't. My doctor has me doing calf and hamstring stretches to lengthen hem back up because mine have shrunk.

One method I use the scale for in cooking: If I am making a recipe I will total all the calories in the batch, weigh it ( subtracting out the weight of the pan) and then divide to get the number of calories per gram or ounce. I write this number on my recipe card. Now when I cook the same meal again I can just put my bowl…

I think over time you learn to kind of eyeball how many calories are in a meal. I wouldn't rely on it long term but I can usually guess what a meal is worth within 1-200 calories. So even if you're off 200 calories once in a week or month it won't be a significant issue. I usually try to be under my calories by 40-50 each…

Hi everyone! So glad to be here and meet you all. I have about 102 lbs to lose. I come from a family of extremely obese people. My grandmother was about 450 when she died, and all of her children are between 300-400 lbs. scares me to death! I could lose control of it in a blink of an eye! Recently I've been watching "My…
