Update: I had an EGD last week. I have a big ulcer in my pouch. So I'm still on liquid or very soft foods, including no meat for now. I go see my surgeon tomorrow. I'm not having any pain now, although I had pain when I ate for a couple of days after my scope. Never heard anything about the diarrhea, but it has resolved.

So, I made myself a daily schedule, one for days I work and one for days I'm off work. It includes getting up at the same every day, exercising, even doing hair and makeup, which I rarely do. I also made a rule of no TV/computer until I'm done with my list (housework, school work, exercise, etc) every day. I HAVE to teach…

Oh, I so agree with you! It's a mind over matter thing, and I'm having such a hard time! I'll get there.

Me too! Although now that I'm married and pushing 40, it doesn't get near the response it used to, lol. I get nervous getting on/off escalators I get anxious almost claustrophobic in elevators withtoo many people in them. And I can flip my fingers and make them look like they have no bones. Cool party trick.

I'm cold all the time too. It has improved a little over the last couple of months (I'm 4 months out) but the first 2 months were miserable cold. I was always the hot one before surgery.

I'm hoping you've seen your surgeon about this by now, but thought I'd share my story. I actually posted a thread called "scary complication" that you can check out if you want. I had a "suspected" perforated ulcer in my pouch. Couldn't be confirmed becuase my swallow test didn't show a perforation but can't get scoped for…

Leslie, it sounds like you have been very successful! I agree there is nothing wrong with a break sometimes. I can't even imagine having a 32 inch waist. I think mine was that size when I was 12. It does sound like maybe exercise and toning is what you need to focus on, more than actual weight loss. (definitely coming from…

Oh man, greek yogurt is YUCK, lol! I'm sure it's more of a mental thing, but I just can't get over it. I tried Fage and Oikos. I hate how it feels on my teeth. I know, I'm weird. I never realized that I was such a picky eater or so affected by texture until after surgery, lol. And I've found that if something had not…

I've never really eaten any greek food, other than a gyro at the mall years ago. I've never heart of tziki sauce. Sounds good though! I've had a lot of experience with ketosis. I did a lot of low carb diets before surgery, lol. It's not the taste of the shakes as much as it is the smell and texture. If I mix the powders…

Yes, I probably should. Unfortunately, there is just no time OR money for that. My employer has an employee assistance program that pays for 6 sessions. I might look into it. I'm awfully good at self-diagnosing though. What are they gonna tell me I don't already know. (Sarcasm intended). There's definitely a stress…

I know they took a sample to test me for it, but I'm not sure if they cancelled it since I was discharged. That's definitely been on my mind, although the problem started a few hours after I went to the ER, so I doubt I would have caught it during my hospitalization. But, I'm an RN, so I guess it's possible to have gotten…

I had roux-n-y 10/25/11

Jesus. He could answer so many questions!

Well I think my issue was just emotional/hormonal/stress or something. Because The last few days have been better. I do notice I want to eat after 2 hours or so, but I'm okay with that. I just need to choose wisely.

I LOVE Thin Mints. Last year was the first time in years I had any. And I ate a box in 2 days. I'm a bariatric surgery patient now, so no girl scout cookies anymore for me. But those frozen thin mints sound awesome. I never tried them like that! I did find out that my husband and boys have Little Debbies stashed in our…

How many calories do you do? My surgeon said to rely on protein intake and not worry too much about calories as long as they are under 1200-1300/day. I get anywhere from 800-1200 daily but average probably 900-1000. That average has increased over the last couple of weeks though.

I'm sure that some of it is "head hunger." Maybe the other part is just that I'm no longer FULL all the time from trying to get the protein in? My Surgeon is 4 hours away, so I can't just run in to see the dietician. I do eat some things that I'm not supposed to (occasional cookie from Subway, or some bread/crackers…

I loved them too! Motivation is a huge issue for me. I find all sorts of excuses. When I get home I'm saving these links so I can watch the videos as often as I need to to get myself off the couch!

10! You're beautiful!

Jessica good luck on your upcoming entrance into the grand world of being an RN!! Definitely continue your education in one form or another all the time. Be a sponge!

Oh it's not that I don't believe him. It's kind of like having a huge zit on your nose and someone telling you it's not noticable, when it obviously is. He loves me and supports me and totally doesn't care. I don't deprive myself or him, I just don't "feel" attractive and have to make a conscious effort to NOT think about…

*snort* lol! I haven't tried many things on here people say are gross. Like haggis. No thanks, just, no. I have tried to like cottage cheese but just can't stomach it. Anything that smells strongly of vinegar (except malt vinegar on Long John Silver's fish... I dunno why) Cooked Spinach or really any cooked greens (unless…

well, I see I should have resized... No time for that at the moment!

Lets see if my first time posting pics works! This is the three of my cats lounging in the laundry This is Widget, hiding in his favorite toy, a paper sack Rascal

Oct 25th 2011 for me! Scrambled eggs are my main problem food so far. They stick every time! I hate that feeling. Mine feels like they are stuck but then other foods/liquids go around the eggs and they stay put.

I am already noticing excess skin and flabbiness after 50 pounds lost. (Although I've always been flabby). The most distressing part is related to intimacy with my husband. He swears he doesn't care, but it definitely bothers me a lot. I will definitely consider at least a tummy tuck and boob lift after I get to goal. I…

Hello! I had Gastric Bypass on 10-25-11 and have lost 50 pounds. My initial weight was 282 and I am down to 232. I am still figuring out what I can eat and cant, but I find this site SO effective in tracking my protein. My biggest struggle, aside from drinking enough water, is my need for instant gratification mixed with…

I'm excited to find this group! It's nice to see so many nurses on MFP. I've been an RN for 14 (really?!?!) years. I've done a little bit of nursing home (including MDS and care plans), family practice physician's office, and skilled nursing unit, but the majority of my time has been on a Women's Health unit where we do…

I LOVE cats! I didn't realize until I met my husband just how much I loved them as I'd always had dogs. Now we have 3 cats and no dogs and I wouldn't have it any other way! The kitties are so funny, they make me laugh at least once a day! I'm posting from work so can't post pics though. We have 3 tabbies: Widget, Speedy,…

I had Roux N Y laporascopic done 10/25/11 and have lost 48 pounds in 2.5 months since then. I struggle with the psych portion of the lifestyle changes. I should probably be seeing a counselor but don't. But I wouldn't change anything. I'm just surprised at how much lack of control I feel over my body. Yet, I can follow the…
