  • Welcome! I'm sure you'll find this community very helpful and supportive.
  • I just got a fitbit last week. I'd be happy to connect with you, but I don't know how you connect?
  • I wish I had purchased a stool softener (not a laxative) so I had that available when I needed it. I'm glad I had the ability to sleep inclined for a little while after surgery to help with the initial reflux. I'm glad I took 2 weeks off from work after the surgery just to get through my liquids stage and recover. Best…
  • My signifcant other and I watched every week and I'm ready to start this season when it comes back in February. Some of the struggles I get, some of the people don't seem like they have had enough counseling because they don't get it.
  • There are parts about the show I like and parts I don't. I wish there was a way to focus more on the losing weight healthy and not on losing weight at all costs. I do like that the trainers are able to help the contestants see that they are capable of far more activity than they think. Personally, I know that my fear or…
  • What great progress you have made! Have you been exercising too? Your waist and stomach look really toned! I want to have your results when I get to 4 mos.
  • My NUT said 600-800 calories per day, preferable in the low to middle end of that range. As the others have said, protein & fluid first. I try to get at least 2 - 3 oz protein first and then if I can a few veggies. I usually have to supplement with a protein drink of some kind because I just can't eat as much protein as I…
  • Rome wasn't built in a day... or whatever that saying is. Don't be discouraged. I am 2 mos out too, and my weight is not falling off overnight like it was initially, but no on promised us instant gratification. I think coming off slowly is to give us a chance to make this our lifestyle and make it our new normal. If it…
  • You are losing consistently, not gaining consistently. That is the goal. Keep your nutrition goals where they are supposed to be, especially the protein & fluids. Do the exercise. You will succeed. It won't be overnight, but none of us gained all our weight overnight either. Don't put pressure on yourself by comparing.
  • Do you have the ability to go to a different hospital? You should not be living with that pain.
  • BIG difference!! Good for you. Congrats.
  • Good for you. You have worked hard an your body and it is good that you can appreciate what that hard work is doing for you. You brought about the change that you wanted. Congrats!
  • Like Janet, my NUT has me (at 8 wks out) in a range of 600-800, preferably more like 600-700 range, with an understanding I will work out 3 times per week. My guess is since you are working out more than that, you would probably want to be more in the 700-800 range at least, if not a bit more. I think its worth a call to…
  • Well, must be the surgery that through me off, because hello period :(
  • Rob's advice is spot-on. You will get your plan from your doctor, but the bonus information that you can get here is invaluable. Plus, use this planning time to start making the changes in your life that you will live post-surgery.
  • This is the part that hit home for me, and I am only 2 months in. Intellectually, I know this tool will work for me if I follow the program. But, my history and fear tell me either I won't lose weight or I will lose some and then gain it all back. Thaeda you show great courage in sharing what is going on with you, and you…
  • Your story is one of courage and inspiration and determination. Words we can all live by. Thanks for modeling the words for us.
  • Wow--you have done really well.
  • Get rid of that disappointment and start to celebrate you! You are doing great. I think if we all lost our weight really quickly, we would probably miss the lesson of learning how to eat making mindful and wise choices. Put a smile on your face and keep moving forward.
  • I had the ok for soups while I was in the liquids/pureed stage. I'm now in soft food stage. Chili is ok because it is thicker and has the protein in meat & beans. My NUT suggested that if I was going to do an thin soup, I use it as an afternoon snack (not a meal) and add some protein powder to it.
  • I didn't know that about Bolthouse Farm dressings. When I am allowed to have salad, which will in about 6 weeks, I'm going to be getting that brand. Great tip! As for lunches, I have been getting sliced deli meat and taking 2-3 oz, along with veggies or fruit. Sometimes I'll get an individual sized cottact cheese and have…
  • I had my sleeve on 11/19 so I wasn't really able to eat anything bad this year. As for next year... that is the question mark. The holiday time seems to be a trigger for me to eat. I think in my head holiday and special food are entwined. How will I separate them? I don't know yet. But, I know for sure if I don't, I will…
  • That is a goal to celebrate! I will be excited when I get there too!
  • Whether I (or anyone else) lose slow or fast, the important thing is I am losing, not gaining. Every ounce that comes off helps my body function better. I am trying to teach myself to be content with Progress, not Perfection.
  • Excellent!! You are working hard and it is showing.
  • I already have a size narrow width. What I need is to lose from my size 10 length. In my dreams I'd drop to a size 8 :) From what I see here, I'll have to keep dreaming.
  • I will hit the 2-mo post-surgery mark next week. I do either yogurt or eggbeaters scramble for breakfast. For lunch I have 2-3 oz deli meat (turkey, roast beef) or some tuna and some veggies. For an afternoon break I often do Unjury chicken soup, which gives me both liquids and protein. For supper it's some type of meat…
  • Hi! I'm in Minnesota--land of frozen tundra. I had my sleeve on 11/19/14. Have not regretted a thing. Surgery went well and recovery even smoother.
  • Look at you! You have done a fabulous job. Keep it up.
  • I asked a trainer about my wings. He said those are the triceps muscles and are the most difficult to tone. There are toning exercises online and weight exercises too. He made it sound like that area can be made better but they likely are not going to completely disappear.
