  • I would love to work on the July challenge. I took the first step and planned a menu for the week and bought a lot of veggies. I can't say I have nothing to eat and go to junk food. I also want to get myself to the gym at least 3 times this week. I know they are small steps but at least they are positive ones.
  • Hi! I remember you. You had your sleeve just a little before I had mine. I understand the weight gain issue. I lost 80 of the 100 lbs I wanted to lose in the first 2 years, but have since gained 30 lbs back. Now I’m trying to go back to the eating plan I was supposed to follow all along. I’m also getting up early before…
  • Welcome! I am nearing 4 yrs since my VSG. I have never regretted it. Early on can be difficult as you learn how to eat healthier and way less in volume. Farther out can be even more difficult because it is more of a mind game to continue to eat properly and move. The support of friends here will be invaluable. Friend a lot…
  • What a great post! I'm going to hang on to this message.
  • I’m almost 4 yrs out. For protein I have Greek yogurt for breakfast. For lunch I have either a packet of tuna or salmon mixed with cottage cheese. Both are good sources of protein. Supper is usually lean meat. Sometimes I need to add in a protein drink too. For water I mix 32 oz of water with a small amount of sugar free…
  • You have made the commitment to have a healthier life. Good for you! You wouldn't have done this if you weren't prepared to make the changes required. It would be really nice if the people in your circle were supportive, but you have to be prepared to do this on your own if you have to. I always had to remind myself that I…
  • If you could mention my name to those gods too???
  • I’m still working at it, @Stephaniev51697. Some days are more successful than others. I may not be losing as fast as I would want, but at least I’m not gaining.
  • If I had the answer, it would make my life and weight loss a whole lot easier! LOL. The weight definitely goes on much easier than it comes off. We just have to keep working at it. I tend to look at the food I want to eat and consider how many calories it is and how long I would have to be on the elliptical machine to…
  • I remember that feeling of eating pureed foods. I bought a can of beef hash and then pureed it in my blender. I thought it was the best food ever created. I haven't eaten it since I got out of the pureed stage. :)
  • Thanks. I may look into it next year when my gym membership runs out. I will probably go try a few spin classes at my gym to see if I like them.
  • Happy Tuesday. I am pleased that I had the opportunity to let my eating be wildly out of hand over Sunday & Monday because I was at the Mall of America both days for a convention. What ended up happening is that I was so afraid to eat really bad stuff and gain 4-5 lbs, I ended up not eating enough-- and being up 1 lb. I'm…
  • I'm curious to hear how your Peloton bike works. I have seem it at the MOA and it looks really great- but not in my budget right now and I already have a membership at the Y that is paid for. I agree, it would be really nice to be able to get a good workout at home and not have to go out for it. Can't wait to hear as you…
  • I'm not sure why you think "100" is the goal. I would've been really excited if I had lost 100 lbs my first year, but I didn't come anywhere close to that. Not in my 2nd year either. You have lost 61 lbs! Can you imagine pre-surgery what you would have said if someone had told you that in 1 year you would have lost 61 lbs?…
  • I had the sleeve late 2014, so I'm about 3 1/2 yrs. HW was 248. Lowest wait was 160...for about 1 day. 1 month ago I decided I was not going to put back on all the weight that I have lost. I got on the scale and saw 202--that was a wakeup. For the last month I have gone back to eating the way I was directed after surgery.…
  • I had mine last year, and had my sleeve late 2014. I did have a hard time trying to get all the liquid down in the time frame they wanted me to drink it. I am able to sip but I'm not able to guzzle down fluids. I did get it down but it was a struggle.
  • Add in a tuna or salmon packet. Tons of protein.
  • I chose the sleeve for 2 reasons: 1) because I was afraid to have my intestines reconnected in a different way. 2) because the sleeve offered a smaller chance of vitamin malnourishment because your body has a better chance to absorb the nutrients in the food that you eat. Best wishes in which ever route you choose.
  • Congratulations and you look great! I bet you feel even better!
  • Thanks for the website info. I had not heard of it but now I am doing their 48 hr reset. I think it will be a good gateway into getting my food intake back to what it should be and what works for weight loss. I appreciate the support!!!
  • I am almost 3 yrs out. I have gained because I didn’t stay vigilant in what I put in my mouth. I plan to change that in year 4. The surgery is a tool, but it is what you think and act on with your brain that will ultimately determine your success.
  • I need some advice. I want to run, or at least jog. However, about 4 minutes in, I am bored. I can't seem to find the right music or something to keep me focused on what I am doing. You are doing so great at running, do you have any suggestions as to how you stay focused and not bored?
  • I found a good way to get a protein lunch in for me is to mix a small packet of tuna or salmon in with cottage cheese. They both are a good source of protein, plus the cottage cheese helps to not make the tuna or salmon too dry to eat.
  • I am not where I want to be (2 yrs post) but I'm not where I was, either. So, I don't consider the surgery a fail, I consider it a success. Plus, the weight that I have gained (and am now trying to lose) is because of bad choices I made with my head-- not because the surgery failed me. The surgery helps me feel full but it…
  • I find the denser the meat, the less of it I can eat in a sitting. I can maybe eat 4-6 oz of a hamburger at best. However, I can do 2.5 oz tuna/salmon mixed with 4 oz of cottage cheese pretty easy and still have room for a few veggies.
  • Hi! I was sleeved a week after you. In the past 18 mos I have gained 24 lbs. I'm not to happy about it. I'm going to review some of my food lists from year one and try to get back to eating the way I did then. It will be harder this time since I have let myself get back to eating carbs, but I think I can do it. I think you…
  • I tried to post from my phone but apparently it didn't work, so I'll try again. Thaeda, it is great to see you. I have been off for awhile too, so it is wonderful that the first thing I see when I come back on is an update from you. I mostly haven't been on because I felt a bit ashamed that I have gained 24 lbs back in the…
  • I'm with everyone. I am just over 2 yrs out from sleeve. I had lost 83 lbs. Just over 1 yr ago I went back to working a part-time job along with my full-time job. I let myself stop exercising because I told myself it was just too much. Then I started letting myself eat the wrong things, because it was quick and convenient.…
  • I totally understand where you are at and what you have experienced, as I am there too. I think you have been a great success. Most importantly, you have your attitude right in that you can have a set back and not make it the end of the world-- and get right back to eating the correct way. That says "winner" to me. You are…
  • I am 1 1/2 yrs out from the sleeve. My clinic would have me stay at around 800-900 calories if I wasn't exercising. If I am exercising, I go more for about 1000-1200 calories.
