I hope the appeal goes through quickly for you. We will all think positive thoughts.

Is it possible that the increase in calories is what is making you sick? Maybe your stomach doesn't like all that food? I hope you feel better soon!

Could you walk or swim in a pool? Don't get discouraged. In the grand scheme of your life, this will be a small period as compared to the much longer time you will have to lose weight and exercise on your fixed ankle. It will get better.

Pat: This is a little off topic, but I remember early on we had a conversation about our mutual love of icecream. I wanted to incorporate it back into my diet in small, controlled amounts. You advised me to be careful of opening that can of worms back up. Well guess what-- my stomach doesn't like ice cream. I have tried a…

Incredible success! The sleeve is a great tool but you have done the hard work. The success is yours! Congratulations.

At 14 wks out I haven't noticed anything, but it is at the forefront of my brain. My fear is as I become happier with myself I will want to shop all the time. Clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc. I am trying very hard to be aware of what I am doing. I don't want "mindless" eating to become "mindless" shopping.

Keep your protein level at your goals and get in your fluids. Your body will adjust and you will lose.

I was anemic before I had surgery in November. In January I had my hemoglobin checked and it was at 11. (should be at least 11.7) I just had it checked again in March and despite taking the double does of vitamins w/iron, it is now 10.7. I have slow-release iron pills that are 45 mg. I was advised to take 1per day…

Edina, Minnesota--suburb of Minneapolis. Looking forward to spring--assuming it will actually come. Last year we had snow in April. This year we have very little snow on the ground, just cold.

I think when we are being proactive and taking steps to make ourselves healthier, and hopefully happier, it is only natural that we think about other areas of our lives that we maybe wish could also improve. Nothing gets fixed overnight. You are about to make a major change in your life, a positive change, and you need to…

Been there, done that. And right about the same point you are at too. Everyone told me it was normal, don't get discouraged, the weight will come off. They were right, but I still got a bit discouraged. All I can say is-- it is normal, the weight will continue to come off, just follow the plan. This isn't an overnight fix…

Good for you for putting your health as your priority and taking the actions you need to make it happen. That is the most important first step. The pre-op diet is just the first difficult step. The diet right after surgery isn't the most fun either. But, all of it helps to teach us a new way of eating and starting us off…

What a great feeling! Good for you.

That is dedication! Totally inspiring.

At my 3 mo appt I got a weekly sample menu from my clinic. Each day has between 600-760 calories. They never recommend over 1000 calories unless the person is intensely working out. Each meal has about 2 oz of protein & veggie, and then some have a little starch and some have a little fruit. Every day they have 2 cups of…

Ouch. Yah, the first time it happened to me was an unpleasant surprise for sure. At 8 weeks post op, I could not have finished that burger. I'm not sure that I could now at 13 wks post-op. It could be that you ate too fast, that you ate too much, you didn't chew a piece enough and it got stuck, or maybe it was too…

This is not accurate. The sleeve procedure has no higher death rate than having your appendix out. It has a smaller rate than having a hysterectomy. If you are considering having surgery, which I did, go to an informational seminar and find out the truth about the surgery. Ask questions. Find out what the life post-surgery…

I will be interested to see what people post. I am just past 3 months out and even though I know I am smaller, because I am wearing smaller clothes and because people tell me so, my own self body image has not caught up yet. When I look in the mirror, I see the me that was there before surgery. I am curious if there is a…

Congratulations! You have done really well.

Congratulations-- great milestone!!!

Oh, I didn't even know there was a search function! I guess I should explore a little :)

I thought protein powders would gunk up in hot liquids? What type do you use that mixes into your decaf coffee?

Pre-surgery, breakfast could be a muffin or a danish or breakfast sandwich w/sausage. This was usually in the 8:30-9:30 range, or about 2-3 hrs after getting up. Now, 99% of the time it is a greek yogurt w/in 1/2 hr of waking up. My NUT was really insistent on my eating breakfast w/in 1 hr of waking up and the yogurt is…

Prior to surgery, I was pretty open about it. I told my family & closest friends when I started the program. I told my boss and my closest friends at work about mid-way through the program. About 1 week prior to surgery I posted it on my FB page. I knew some would be interested, some could care less. I didn't get any…

I would try a mint tea. Mint is supposed to calm your stomach.

I get this because I was thinking the same thing the other day. I wanted to eat something other than protein. I think it was more than I find myself eating the same protein alot and I need to find a way to diversify my protein sources. I met with my NUT yesterday and she told me I also need to worry less about my protein…

You can make this work if you want to. Just remember where you were pre-surgery and how you got there. Letting yourself go back to your old habits will most surely put you back towards the weight you started at. You don't want that. Go back to the mindset and habits you had right after surgery. Start your exercise by doing…

There is most certainly a difference--BIG difference. You look great--though I will say you were very pretty before too. Good job!

I was advised protein first, veggies 2nd. The NUT & dr prefer that most of my protein come from food sources and ideally only 1 protein supplement/drink per day. That isn't always realistic, I have found because I can't usually eat enough to really get enough protein in from my food and only 1 drink.

Thanks for the feedback. When I had my very first appointment the NUT showed me some food in a 1-cup measuring cup and said this is what I would be eating after surgery. I have my 3-mo appt in 2 days and in advance they sent out a "sample menu" of meals showing a total of 6-8 oz per meal. So, I thought I was supposed to be…
