Veggies 5 times a day.... <3 I haven't had Swiss chard since I was a kid so had that this week and will be making a recipe with leeks this weekend. Goal met! I appreciate the ideas for fast food meals. I just avoid them but I would like to know that I could eat there and be healthy with my choices. I prefer to make my food…

Fast food is so difficult. There is the smells, the memories, etc. what approach are you using to make it a healthy meal?

Sooooo....I weighed and measured yesterday to get new starting points. Not too surprising, I have gained weight and lost muscle tone after a year of continuous injuries and illness. The monthly picture was also taken. Today I write a positive letter to myself to open next month. It is this really brutal reality thing that…

My goal this was simple--replace the battery in the scale. But I didn't do it til today. Procrastination is such a bad habit of mine.

76 degrees today but very windy so did my walking indoors.

I set two goals this week: (1) to log daily (2) to workout 3 times this week I am most proud that I accepted that I needed to work through some mental health stuff that is related to my weight issues. I also didn't just give up like I usually do. Not facing this stuff and turning to food and isolating myself got me to the…

Wow there are so many new people! Back after nearly 2 months of reflection and working on my emotional health. My mini goal this week was to log on to MFP so goal met!

Starting chapter 3 tomorrow and hope to get back to reflect on both 2 and 3 this weekend.

I love challenges like that Flora! I'm sure you will find it motivating despite the 14 lbs. you can't count yet. Eating out is so tricky; I check online as well then when faced with the choice in the restaurant and with the social triggers for certain foods like appetizers, it is not so easy to follow through with the…

Bravo Mat! Continue doing the run rather than the ice cream and you will retrain the reward centers in your brain. And Italian_Buju, you might be just dealing with sensory overstimulation as part of your OCD, in which case, you do just have to give your brain time to reset itself. So good job taking care of yourself! (The…

Flora, first congratulations on 14 lb loss; second, great recipes last week. Don't care much for fish either but this was really good. Just working towards one goal this week--working out before work. This is difficult for me as I really like to lay in bed and think about a hour in the morning before getting up. Guess I…

We have all had that epiphany moment; for me, it is important to write those things down so that I can go back to it and re-experience that moment to help me when I start to lose focus on my health goals. Congratulations on your start to a healthier you!

Happy Saturday! Enjoying my day off--up at 7, healthy breakfast, laundry, dishes, and bills paid so time for a coffee and MFP break. Reading about how injuries, aches and pains, or being ill can keep us from working out is a tough one for me to struggle with. In the last 10 months, I have had a leg fracture, shin splints,…

tonight's mushroom black bean veggie burgers were not good so going with a recipe a friend shared at work for two options for a quick healthy breakfast in a coffee cup. The link is: http://www.kare11.com/story/news/health/motivation-monday/2015/01/12/motivation-monday-doable-healthy-habits/21621793/ Remember to start your…

Hi, everyone! Nice work reaching your goals! You are right Mat, reading about what everyone is doing is very motivating. I'm logging daily (yeah it's a boring task but necessary), one cup of coffee before work and water only at work, new recipe for supper tomorrow (will post if it's good), haven't passed the 8,500 steps…

Well, I started strong last week but ended worn out and let things go. This week, I set my goals with that in mind as I anticipate having a lot of the same things go on this week as last. Goals: 1) daily logging is a must for me to stay calorie count 2) spend time on Monday creating week's meal plan (with a new healthy…

Unknown_sister, hopefully this cold starts to g e t better soon. Wish I could magically send you some Russian tea (you can find the recipe online); I drink it like crazy when I have a cold. As far as work goes, got a tough meeting on Tuesday to get through. Maybe then things will lighten up. Rhonnda, journaling has been a…

2.8 lbs lost--nice! Between bad weather and work I'm pretty stressed out. I am managing to not go crazy and eat my weight in breads, pastas and potatoes but it is tempting to just numb those cranky feelings. As far as the name change, go ahead, it's just a label. Flora, you kept walking! Everyone else, sorry I'm tired and…

Being back to work might be stressful but it helps me get my steps in...8000+ today just at work. Two hour late start tomorrow so staying up just a little later to get some paperwork done. The below zero windmills are keeping me from the gym too Skittles! Unknown_sister, keep a smile in your heart cause this too shall pass…

I made the conscious effort to use prayer today when stressful events happened. I did not have any food cravings til just before sitting down to log before bed. So I made some hot tea and read my daily devotional again. It passed.

Such positive energy this week! Welcome new posters! Goals: daily logging, 7,500 steps a day, in bed by 9:00 on school nights, and Curves twice. Photo taken. Never thought to get one of the back but I did that too; thanks for the idea! 3 minutes til lights out. "Night JohnBoy"

Well I did 2 out of 3-logging daily and mostly gluten free. I did get 7500 steps in today. Sorry the cold is still bad. Let yourself rest!
-
Thanks for the heads up; the personal reflections are challenging indeed. Still reflecting on them.

#9 & #15 resonated with me; despite knowing consciously that seeking God's love and support is what I need, I unconsciously turn to food for the immediate relief. That just leaves me feeling defeated and the cycle repeats.

Well, you could try out different types of workout s at home by checking out different exercise DVD s from the library; you could try yoga, Pilates, walking off the pounds with Leslie Sansone, or Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred which if you are looking for intensity, that could be a good option. I certainly found that by…

Sorry you are not feeling well, unknown_sister; colds are so draining physically and mentally. I have been developing the sniffles and sneezing of a head cold just in time for returning to work on Monday. Gonna stock up on chicken soup and Kleenex, lol. As for gluten free, I read the book The Hunger Fix by Dr. Pamela…

Just bought the book and am reading the first chapter; got my post it notes, pen and highlighter ready.

Happy New year! I did something so out of the norm this year; I invited a couple friends over and made a very Norwegian inspired celebration. I usually just sit at home alone but pushed myself to do something different. It was fun and I am not stressing about what I ate. I sent the leftovers home with them so I know it was…

Today's challenge...shovel the snow without complaining. Logging done and within calories
