Very inspiring! Thanks so much for sharing. Sometimes its not some huge revelation... but more simple and basic fact smacks you in the face. You are just tired of being tired. Best of luck in your journey. :-)

I do both. I have some equipment at home and a gym membership. Granted... it can be costly if you spend a lot on the treadmill. I went on craigs list and bought reasonably priced used equipment knowing I wanted something in case I want to work out at home... like those nights I may work late and dont feel like getting home…

I'm no expert by any means... but the way I do it is I do cardio for 30-60 minutes first. I switch up between the differentmachines available for this. The bike, the treadmill, eliptical, arc trainer. If you're just starting... and can only do 15 minutes... thats fine. Your endurance will improve. Then I use the weight…

COOKIES!! I'm powerless against them.

Great timing! I've hit a plateau in the last month or so. This was the encouragement I needed. Thank you!

I have very similar issues with stress and know that it is my number one obstacle to a healthy weight. I know that exercise seems to help more than anything else for me... but I also am overwhelmed at work and work long hours. The only thing I want to do is go home, have a couple glasses of wine, eat and watch some mind…

You will get through this.... buts its a process. It will take time. Don't beat yourself up on top of the emotional pain you are going through with the divorce. I've been there and it does get better. I joined a single parent's group..... and made friendships that have lasted for 15 years now. Sitting home alone to dwell…

I read your one reply where you mentioned "eating to fill a void" and your way to deal with the pain of your parents divorce. You can know how to lose weight. You can have all the equipment in the world to exercise. What you may need in addition is some therapy to deal with those early feelings. It sounds like you already…

So much of this is mental. You have to be at the right place mentally. I've gone through many periods just like you. I had a "I don't give a sh....t attitude. I couldn't get motivated.... no matter how miserable I was. I thought about it daily and wished I felt motivated, but I just didn't. Over this time period, in the…

You're definitely not eating enough. That will backfire on you. Your metabolism will slow down to a crawl. You need to add fuel to have something to burn.

This NSV is huge! Congrats!

Hi, I just turned 48 and going thru perimenopause myself..... which only makes it harder to lose the weight. I've got about 40 + pounds to lose and have used mfp before with a lot of success. Please add me as a friend and we can support each other! Good luck!

too funny! I just decided to look for friends myself. My daughter promised me she'd by my pal and do this with me but she hasn't been on. I'm tracking and doing well and nobody sees or cares. *LOL* Anyway.... I'll be your friend.

I don't think you have to be more "hardcore". That just feels like punishment. You aren't being punished for being bad. You are simply getting back on track of eating healthy. I had a bad weekend too. It is what it is. I'm back to business today.

Every person is different. Do what works for you. I find it easier during the day so save some calories for the evening. I have insomnia often and when I'm up at 3 a.m. and my stomach growls I'll grab a handful of almonds. High fiber fills you up and is good for you. Good Luck!

I agree with the others. No harm in eating the majority of calories at dinner. Everyone is different. Do what works for you.

my thought is that you are probably not eating enough if you're not seeing much loss. Your body metabolism will slow down if it feels its starving and if you are exercising that much, you need to feed to burn. I would eat smaller meals/snacks throughout the day as you indicated and see how that works. Give it a week and…

Mmmmm... had Asher's dark chocolate covered pretzels. And was still under calories. Love it!

Definitely relate! The good thing is that people always guess my weight as lower than it really is. The big girls up top help with that. *LOL*

I took phentermine for a boost at the beginning. It definitely helped ME get started. But I didn't want to depend on a pill when I know that Lifestyle changes are the only thing that work. Healthy eating and more exercising. Along with this is also understanding why you eat. If you are an emotional eater, you need to deal…

Wow! 9 pounds in a week and a half? You're disappointed in that? I think those results are great. Usually you will lose about 5 or 6 pounds the first week. A lot of that is water weight. After that a pound or two a week is the norm. Its not healthy to lose faster than that. Stick with it. You're doing great and developing…

Thank you EVERYONE! Your comments helped a lot. I will keep at it. I definitely agree with the stress contributing to my eating mindlessly. I guess its a work in progress for all of us. :)

I woke up this morning and read your post and it gave me just the motivation I needed. What an inspirational story. I've been at a plateau for about a month and have started back up again but it can be so discouraging. I won't give up! Besides... its not about giving up and going back to old bad habits. I like eating…

Once you get into the habit, you do begin to like it. I hate that very full feeling. Its amazing how much less you eat when you just pay attention and prepare to box half of your meal when going out.

Welcome! Great to have you. I've been trying for a long time with no success. But the past few months on MFP have really helped. I'm finally losing and it feels great. You can absolutely find support here and plenty have lost over 100. Feel free to add me as a friend. :)

HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What an accomplishment!

I have been wrestling with the very same question. I'm in my third week and have not been eating back my exercise calories. My brother tells me I need to or my metabolism slows down thinking I'm starving myself. Your comments have clarified things for me. I think I'll experiment and see what works best for me. Thanks, all!

Wow! You guys are great. Thank you for such a warm welcome. I'm going to get dressed and head to the gym. First time in many months! Not thinking about it. Just going. Thank you again and I'll talk with you soon.
