Everybody has been do kind and encouraging. Thank you all for your thoughtful words and comments. I know some of you have been asking about what I've been doing for my nutrition/exercise routine. The only way that we can achieve our goals is by setting small, realistic goals that are achievable over a long period of time.…

Sorry it took me a while to reply back to your post. Other than running, I have also done some High Intensity Interval Training and just regular weight training. If you need ideas for weight exercises, www.bodybuilding.com is a great resource - lost of interesting articles and workout video database.

@Drob1975 - My weight loss factors have been a combination of creating a reasonable, caloric deficit each day and scheduled exercise throughout the week. When I started my food diary, I still ate some foods that I loved, but within reason for that day. You really have to watch your portions to make sure that you are not…

Two words: baby steps. Setting small, realistic goals has been the driving force behind my nutrition and weight loss. To give you an idea, I started out my weight loss by doing walking several times a week along with cutting back on my portions. I still ate foods that I liked, but not as much in order to create a…

I started Feb. 20th at 210 lbs. As of this date, I have currently lost 40 lbs.

Your mini-goals seem reasonable. I just want to advise you that your weight loss will slow up when you get closer to your target goal. Typically, when your Body Mass Index is high, the body rids itself of a lot of excess weight much more quickly than someone who has a lower BMI. Also, be sure that you take body…

Your optimal heart rate is based off of a formula with your age as a factor. Your max heart rate is typically defined as follows: max hr = 220 - your current age (Example: if you're 30 yrs old, then your max hr is 220 - 30 = 190 bpm) Your optimal heart range is typically between 65% to 85% of your max heart rate. Example:…

Polar and Garmin are great products. I have a Polar FT4 and I love it! I find that the HRMs with chest straps are a lot more accurate in determining your calorie burn.

Be willing to make smart sacrifices and changes in order to better your quality of life. It helps out in the long run. =)

Eggs and egg whites, whole grain sandwich bread, lean deli turkey, wholly guacamole, muscle milk protein shakes, ground turkey and chicken, bell peppers, onions, garlic, brown rice, celery, lemons, bananas, apples, grapes, all natural chunky peanut butter, portabella mushrooms, organic canned tomato products, whole grain…

Instead of your typical white bread and sandwich meat, you can try a wheat pita or flat bread and cut up some rotissere chicken to use as your meat on your sandwich. Add some shredded lettuce and, if you choose to use condiments, a low-fat mayo or even a vinaigrette dressing would taste good. Hope that helps!

I eat whenever I am hungry, which ends up being anywhere between 4 - 7 times a day. Obviously, I don't have 7 full-scale meals - 3 of them are breakfast, lunch and dinner, while the other times are snacks. If I do snack, I try to make sure it is a good proportion of carbs to protein.

I love tacos and seafood! Sounds great - I might steal your idea and try it sometime! =)

147 to 174 is your ideal heart range for burning fat during a workout. Your max heart rate is a figure based off of subtracting your age from 220 bpm. (ex: 220 - 19 = 201). Your max heart rate is only a predicted figure - it could be a little more or less.

You might want to look into doing some HIIT (High-Intesnity Interval Training) or Circuit Training where you do 3-4 circuits of Strength Building and Cardio. Kettlebell workouts are good to incorporate into these types of training. You can find tons of videos on either YouTube - you can even google and find a bunch of…

I started the site two months ago and I have about 30 more lbs to lose. Welcome back to the site!

McDonald's Menu has very few options that I would consider "healthy" If you're craving a hamburger, you're better off just getting a small hamburger and nothing else. The small burger does have 0.5 g of Trans Fat and about 500 mg of sodium, but it is about 250 calories. If I had to make a choice, I would go for their…

You can manually do that in "change goals". Go to "custom settings", and in this mode you can set your own calorie goal and set the percentages for fat, protein and carbs yourself. Personally, I wouldn't lower your protein intake - it's a vital part of building muscle and suppressing cravings.

Your diary looks very good! You are making a lot of smart and healthy choices, so I would say you are on the right track! Good job!

Roasting and grilling are good options. If you grill asparagus, try to find a slotted metal tray that you can put on the grill and drizzle with olive oil, basic seasoning (salt, pepper), and a few crushed garlic cloves. You can use the same ingredients for roasting, just make sure that the pan you use for roasting does not…

As far as I can tell, I have a good amount of energy during the day. Mornings are usually tough, but once I eat something, then I am good to go for the day! I have still been losing consistently - my weight loss may have slowed up a little bit, but overall, not that much. I'm getting plenty of water during the day and my…
