  • Beyond is good! I also like these ones by the brand "Light Life" that I find sometimes at Walmart! They cook up really well. When in doubt, I gravitate to anything with a black bean base though! Most grocery stores I have been to have some version of those. :)
  • They're a little pricey, but I love Vega bars (their sea salt dark chocolate ones are sooooo good). 100% vegan (and I believe GF!)
  • 1 cup of grilled or roasted veggies, 1/2 cup brown rice, 2 hard boiled eggs OR a serving of tofu. :) +/- 2 TBS of dressing. Sometimes I also up the protein if I know my other meals will be lower (ie more of the listed protein, or adding beans etc).
  • Hi! Fellow vegetarian here. I find it easiest to kind of begin with the lower cal stuff. So, for instance, I'll decide on veggies I want to have or what kinds of flavours I want. Then, I work from there, making sure to add protein, carbs, and then paying extra attention to what my other meals from that day may be…
  • I'd also love friends to motivate/be accountable with! :) I have struggled a lot with my own body image and relationship with food. I'm now vegetarian and working hard on being gentle with myself while making the best choices I can!
  • Do you get Becel in the UK? Here in Canada, Becel makes a vegan margarine that I love for baking! (Could be other places too, I've never had to look!) [/quote] According to the internet we do, it's branded as Flora, not Becel...not seen a dairy free version of it though, but I'll definitely keep my eyes open for it and…
  • I really love the PC Blue Menu alfredo sauce - I add in some minced garlic and black pepper and it satisfies the craving.

  • The best advice I have is research, research, research, and don't take anything at face value. Different things work for different people. You also need to ensure you're mindful about supplements (which, granted, I think everyone needs to do anyway). For instance, I'm a vegetarian that eats eggs, but few dairy products. I…
  • I'm afraid I'm not 100% sure on the caloric info because the website doesn't give much regarding soy based drinks, BUT I have found a great way to cut cals/sugar is to ask for half sweet! Less of the flavoured syrup = less sugar! Plus, I honestly find it tastes better. My favourites to do this way are: caramel brulee,…
  • My biggest tips/what has worked for me is: 1) Don't go on an empty stomach. I'm generally not tempted by meat, but I don't enjoy being hungry while everyone else is able to eat everything. 2) (As mentioned) bring a dish that is nutritionally complete. I try to think of it as: if this is the only thing I can eat, will I be…
  • I love protein snack bars when you need something quick and convenient (just try to look for ones that don't have TOO much sugar/sodium). They're not a perfect solution, but good in a pinch (and satisfy a sweet/salty craving sometimes). I go for Vega snack bars, if that helps! Otherwise, when I plan ahead enough, I love:…
  • I super would love suggestions on this too. Lately I've been trying to go to my favourite coffee shops, order herbal tea, and visit with friends/write/read. I've found going to the places I enjoy and making better food choices to be helpful! I've found I can still go to some of my favourite restaurants, but I look up the…
  • Hi! I have been vegetarian for about 2 months now, and I am trying to reduce my consumption of animal products gradually (however, still getting used to not cooking with meat). I'd really like to connect with others who are vegetarian/vegan, as I'm committing to making healthier choices this year! :)
  • Hi Alex, I'm Ali, and I'm also a 21 year old student! I'm finding it difficult to keep up with eating right and having such a hectic schedule, as I'm sure you can relate to. Especially all the "Hey, let's all go grab quick lunch!" stuff that tends to happen when you're studying in groups or running from one class to…
