The truth... without the BS: 1) If you want to lose fat, you'll need to eat in a caloric deficit. 2) It is best to lose weight slowly, around 1- 1.5 lbs a week is a good, steady rate of fat loss and is sustainable for the long term. 3) You will get the best benefits from your training if you do some form of resistance…

I don't plan to use short rest intervals but I do sometimes out of necessity. I have a lot of other things going on so I don't always have the time to train that I'd like. On those days I rest long enough to add some more weight to the bar and that's it. I'm not sure why everyone's tripping on it so bad though. It's not…

There is no hope for this thread. Nothing here has anything to do with leaving a squat rack open anymore.

You wouldn't happen to be on a keto diet would you?
-
Resistance bands alone aren't ideal but it's better than nothing if you're in a pinch. If you combined resistance bands with some bodyweight exercises and cardio you should be alright.

The clean and press was an Olympic evwnt Hahaha, good point. Apparently people don't have an issue giving that guy a hard time over the internet though.
-
You should check out DeFranco's agile 8.

That is actually pretty common place in training for powerlifters (especially those who follow westside barbell principles) and olympic lifters. It's called "active recovery" and it doesn't necessarily have to be something super light like walking. Westside followers will use moderate weight repetitive effort lifts, sled…

You'll actually pack on a little more mass and gain a little less strength if you train with higher (10-15) reps per set vs. Training with lower reps (2-5) per set which will help you to build more strength than mass. If you're interested in learning more about why, Google "sarcomeric vs sarcoplasmic hypertrophy".

I like your tactics; attack the person instead of their argument, that's how OJ got off.
-
You are pretty muscular but you're not really that big which probably has a lot to do with it. I'm not sure how big op is but he did say he fights in mma as well so he likely also comes to work with bruises and scuffs all over his face. That has been kind of a problem for me in the past as well. When you always have a fat…

I am betting they won't but at least I can say I tried.
-
Hahaha, true. Obvious statement is obvious... I just wanted the people who were involved in that reaction to realize it.
-
Yea, you actually did. I never said that the only goal of overhead pressing was to get strong so you can lift a heavy box over your head. You are intentionally causing a causation fallacy. I did say that overhead pressing would help a person get stronger so that is probably why OP is doing them and that cleaning your…

I know, it's impossible to have good technique when pressing from a clean. Those oly lifters don't know what they're doing....
-
Lol, you're good at trying to twist up what people say to make it sound ridiculous. I will give you that. The only problem is that you had to twist it up to make it sound that way because that is not how I argued it. Nice try though.

Yes, the op asked how to get around doing cleans and I said to not get around them, do them, because they are beneficial and will make you a stronger person overall. I would have said the same thing if someone asked how to get around doing squats, or deadlifts, etc.... unless that person was injured in some way that…
-
^You, my friend, have hit the nail directly on the head.
-
Yes, because people lifting to get stronger is completely unsupported...
-
Lol, no. That would have been funny though. Someone was asking about other ways to improve their conditioning aside from running and I said HIIT was useful and suggested a list of ways to do HIIT, one of which was weighted carries.

Again, just putting words in my mouth because you don't have a valid retort to what I ACTUALLY said. You don't see me giving advice in the distance running threads because that is not what I do. I do; however, know a lot about lifting and gaining strength so that's the area in which I offer my advice. If you don't like…

The op did seem a little braggish; however, he stated that he was going to be venting about all these things so it should be expected that he's going to bring them all up. We also don't know how he behaves at work so a lot of the responses here seemed like you were just adopting a mob mentality and attacking him based off…
-
I don't insist that at all. You just put those words in my mouth. I do; however, logically conclude that a person who is lifting weights would like to cause some form of physical benefit from doing so.
-
Strength and muscle cross sectional area are directly correlated. Because of this, bodybuilders must become stronger if they intend to continue building muscle mass. They do not have to specialize in strength; however, you cannot build muscle without building strength. Science and stuff.
-
Lol, Wow... I suspect that you all do understand my point but are just trying to find ways to argue around/deflect it. My point is that we know that the OP is trying to get stronger/build muscle because they are lifting weights. An easy way to leave the squat rack open while doing OHP's is to clean the bar. Cleaning the…
-
False sense of superiority through the use of deflection and rhetoric is also false.
-
I never argued that they were the same. My point was that the OP is lifting weights so they must therefore intend on becoming stronger or developing more muscle. Cleaning the weight will only aid in those efforts and will keep the squat rack clear for other people who want to use it for its intended purpose. Your argument…

If you work on your grip strength, the bar will slide less while you're deadlifting. The tearing of callouses happens when your fingers start to extend. Using chalk and filing down your callouses helps a lot as well. Tearing a callous here or there when we're deadlifting comes with the territory but you can minimize how…
-
So they strength train but they don't want to get stronger.... That makes sense...
-
I could understand that. Personally, I like doing cleans on my push days because they get me "loosened up" from the deadlifting earlier in the week. Since I'm just doing cleans to get ready to do my strict presses I am never really handling big weights though.
