Eh. I wouldn't jump to cigarettes to help weight loss. If you're having an oral fixation that needs being filled try chewing sugar free gum or something.

It sounds like you're trying to take on a million things at once. This is a recipe for failure. My advice is to try new one thing every couple of weeks and make them all a habit. For example, just focus on logging your calories for a week or two, regardless of whether you hit your goal or not. Then the next few weeks, try…

I think it just depends on personality. In the beginning I needed a cheat day but for the past couple of months I haven't really felt the need for it at all. It just doesn't appeal to me anymore.

$35 a month. It's a women's gym, very small, hometown. Open 24/7 and often I don't have to deal with anyone else in there with me. It's also right down the road, when all the other gyms are 15-20 miles away-- although Planet Fitness is only $10 a month, going every day adds up in gas and ends up making it a lot more…

:) Yep. Though I'm still curious why 1200 is the magical cut off number.

I'm female, quite short (5'2"), and have a lot to lose (I'm 194lb right now.) I net between 1200-1400 cal/day. I never find myself hungry, and I make sure that I hit my nutritional goals for the day. Sometimes I eat under that range, sometimes I eat over it. I'm taking responsibility for my own health. I don't see how you…

Yes it is :) But I'm not op I'm not having troubles, I just wanted to chime in with what I've seen consistently.
-
I weigh 196 and the treadmill says I burn 300 calories walking 2.3 mph for an hour (with incline-- that's going to change the burn as well)
-
Oh okay I misunderstood, sorry. Although I'm always skeptical about supposed burns. My advice still stands though :)
-
You're telling an anorexic that? You're seriously disgusting.
-
I'm sorry but there's no way you're burning 2000+ calories even walking ~5.5 miles. My advice is to not worry about net and just try to hit at least 1200 a day actual intake.

Can't tell if trolling or not

Your caloric overages according to your diary, not taking exercise into account because MFP overestimates like crazy. Wednesday- over by 300 cals Thursday- over by 217 cals Friday- over by 165 cals Saturday- over by 610 cals (900+ calories of exercise??) Sunday- over by 176 cals Monday- over by 94 cals Tuesday- over by 80…

You might be overestimating calories burned while exercising. If you do that, and then eat back your exercise calories, you're not going to lose any weight.

Falling off the bandwagon for a little bit isn't necessarily the worst thing in the world. It's been a bad few weeks but that doesn't mean you can't get back up and back to eating right. :)
-
Yep. Only been off sugary foods for about a month. Tried to eat a slice of cheesecake, which used to be my favorite. Couldn't even finish it, it was too sweet and actually kind of disgusting. :( I've grown fond of bitter foods more lately, I think! (Still crave salty food all the time though...)

If you're expecting anything else you've come to the wrong place-- it's the most responsible answer that anyone could ever give you. Getting advice from unqualified strangers on the internet is about the least helpful thing that you could do at this point. If you have access to a ride, try to find a walk-in mental health…

This is a forum full of people who aren't educated enough to help you. Enthusiasts, maybe, but it seems to me like there's a lot of psychological issues around the way you eat. I'm going to echo everyone else here and say seek a professional (a psychiatrist who may also refer you to a nutritionist.)

Hi. I have PCOS too, feel free to add me

homestucks on mfp. *chants "one of us, one of us"* Anyway I'm 23 and I have 60+ to lose :)
-
Not understanding the point of being nasty about techniques that might work for people.

Genetics, the way I was raised, and my own personal error. Genetics: I have PCOS which makes it a little more difficult to lose weight. Additionally my mother's side of the family has always been very heavy. The way I was raised: I was raised on spaghetti and frozen pizza. Wasn't ever forced to eat vegetables or anything…

^Thanks! bump for other opinions though.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, imho, less reps with higher weight > more reps with less weight. Seems like women always get this "advice" idk why.
-
yep, this. Eating disorder thinking.
-
That's a pretty outrageous statement to not be sourcing.
-
Eat less calories than I burn per day. Not too worried about anything else right now.
-
Lifting more weight less reps > lifting less weight more reps.

Not all people who are skinny are in shape! Why is it that it's just acceptable to judge those who are overweight when there are plenty of "skinny fat" people that get basically no flack about being unhealthy and eating a ton of garbage and not exercising a day in their life? Whoever says that they are against…

After doing a little poking around I realized that back when I wasn't using my Fitbit it assumed 1600 calories TDEE which is actually a few hundred under. I guess since I've been exercising on a daily basis it just assumed that I'm going to burn 2200 because that's what I've been burning daily lately. I'll just have to…
